Lucille Thieman
PETERSBURG -- Lucille H. Thieman, 86, of Petersburg died on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at the Boone County Medical Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church in Petersburg. The Rev. Frank Baumert will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion. Visitation will continue at 7 p.m. at the church, with a wake service at 8 p.m.
Mrs. Thieman was born on Aug. 14, 1915, in Humphrey, to John and Mary (Loeffler) Thiem. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. When she was a young, she and her family moved to the Petersburg area where she attended rural schools.
She married
Henry 'Heinie' J. Thieman on Nov. 20, 1935. The couple lived and farmed near Petersburg all their married
lives. They ran dances at the White Barn on their farm.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Petersburg and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed baking, bingo, sewing and visiting with company.
Survivors include her husband; five sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Marjorie of Kilgore, Texas, Hank and Diane of Petersburg, David and Susie of Homewood, Ill., Jerry and Jane of Petersburg and Dan and Pat of Petersburg; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ramona and Ferd Schrage of Petersburg, Helen Hill of Omaha and Jean and Chuck Beda of Plattsmouth; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one brother and daughter-in-law, Duane and Mary Thiem of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Vincent, Raymond and Jerry; two sisters, Clara Becklun and Dolores Thieman and one granddaughter.
Maricela Velasquez
KEARNEY -- Maricela Velasquez, 52, of Kearney, formerly of Grand Island, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. The Rev. Jose Chavez will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Velasquez was born Nov. 5, 1949, in Raymondville, Texas, to Jesus and Maria Timotea (Hernandez) Quintana. She was raised and educated in Mercedes, Texas.
She married
Juan Angel Zepeda in 1965. Her husband passed away Jan. 1, 1978.
She married
Marco Velasquez on Nov. 29, 1978, in Edenburg, Texas. The couple lived in Washington until moving to Grand Island in 1985. They moved to Kearney in 2000.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. She enjoyed decorating, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Marco; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Carol Zepeda of Grand Island and Juan and Marla Zepeda of Amarillo, Texas; four daughters and sons-in-law, Janie and Fernando Nava of Washington, Nora Zepeda of Kearney, Marisol and Juan Vargas of Arizona and Nellie Velasquez of Kearney; 14 grandchildren; her father of Grand Island; two brothers, Jose and Vidal Quintana, both of Texas; and three sisters, Mercedes Gonzales, Eustorgia Gonzalez and Guadalupe Quiroz, all of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother, a brother and a sister.
Sharon Gleason
NORTH PLATTE -- Sharon L. Gleason, 66, of North Platte died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at her home south of North Platte.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore in North Platte. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
Her body was cremated. A memorial book may be signed from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. or before services at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gleason was born April 27, 1935, in Loup City to Wilbur A. and Mary "Esther" (Palser) Rowe. She grew up in Hastings and Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island High School in 1953. She wrote the words to the Walnut Junior High school song.
She was a homemaker until the early 1970s when she went into the Real Estate Brokerage and Property Management and was co-owner of Baker Realty in Grand Island. In 1987, she went to work for the F.D.I.C. and held various management positions in Dallas, Boiser, La., Baton Rouge, La., Trenton, N.J., and Hartford, Conn., where she retired in 1997. She moved to North Platte.
She married
Dale Gleason on Dec. 5, 1997, in Julesburg, Colo. The couple lived in North Platte.
She was a member of Grand Island Woman's Club and Hall County Historical Society and a past president of Grand Island Realtors Association. She enjoyed decorating and gardening.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Mike Casmere of LaCombe, La.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jon S. Baker of San Antonio, Texas, and Jeffrey A. and Loquetta Baker of Bellevue; two stepdaughters and a stepson-in-law, Shari and Murray Cecil of Paxton and Tiffany Gleason of Kearney; a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Bill and Rose Gleason of Champion; her mother of Grand Island; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Dale Gallaway of Grand Island and Marilee and Reo Weeks of Gibbon; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wesley and Marilyn Rowe of Central City and Gary and Dee Rowe of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Karen Roberts
LINCOLN -- Karen Roberts, 47, of Lincoln died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Lincoln. Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Aurora Cemetery. The Rev. Merv Groodrick will officiate.
Visitation for family only will be at 9 a.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mrs. Roberts was born Aug. 11, 1954, to Joe and Helen (Ruzicka) Janky at Grand Island. She was a staff assistant for the State of Nebraska.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Roberts of Lincoln; a son, Nick Roberts of Lincoln; a daughter and son-in-law, Dena and Ben Gilley of Springfield, Ill; her mother; seven brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Sue Janky, and John and Deb Janky, all of Grand Island, Mark and Leslie Janky, Paul and Nancy Janky, and Dave and Gladys Janky, all of Omaha, Bob and Fredly Janky of Denver and Ron and Jean Janky of Dannebrog; seven sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy Hansen of Lincoln, Barb Ruhe of Eureka, Calif., Michelle and Nick Peterson of Omaha, Mary Brown of Chapman, Joyce and Marlin Sekutera of Norfolk, Elaine and Gene Bishop of Grand Island and Marlene and Joe Bolen of Boise, Idaho.
Eileen Jones
BEND, ORE. -- Eileen M. Jones, 88, of Bend, Ore., formerly of Greeley, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002.
There will be a private family service in Bremerton, Wash., this summer.
There will be no visitation. Mrs. Jones was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Bend/La Pine, Ore.
Central Oregon Funeral Alternatives is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jones was born July 22, 1913, to Lee and Nellie (Donovan) Bly in Greeley.
She married
Harvey L. Jones in 1935. Mrs. Jones owned and operated the Drapery Den while living in Nebraska.
She enjoyed sewing, dancing, playing bridge, flower gardening and spending time with friends and family.
Survivors include two daughters, Dana Muller of Bend, Ore., and Jean Crover of Camas, Wash.; and four sisters, Rosalie Miller of Olympia, Wash., Margaret Mary McCone of Bellevue, Wash., and Catherine Sullivan, and Loretta Duryea, both of Bremerton, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987, and a brother.
Bertha Boardman
Bertha Mae Boardman, 91, of Grand Island, formerly of Fullerton, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Jim Howland will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Boardman was born on March 4, 1909, in Nance County, west of Fullerton, to Carl and Bertha (Runge) Swartz. She was baptized on July 6, 1909 at her parents' home. Her mother died before she was 2-years-old and her father died when she was 5-years-old. She was raised by her sisters and brothers. She started school is the Arcadia area and attended the L school west of Fullerton.
She married
George Boardman on Nov. 10, 1928 in Columbus. They farmed for several years in Nance County. In 1954, they moved into Fullerton.
In her early years she played for barn dances. She cleaned houses and did laundry for a local doctor. She also worked in the Fous Bakery and Clara's Cafe in Fullerton and the turkey plant in Central City. She was one of the first employees at the Fullerton Manor, where she retired after 27 years.
Her hobbies included decorating cakes, playing the piano, baking, flowers, decorating her home, and visiting with family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Mrs. Boardman was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fullerton.
Survivors include a son, Melvin Boardman of Fullerton; a daughter, Barbara (Mrs. Don) Julesgard of St. Libory; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Marjorie (Mrs. James) Good; four brothers, Fredrick, Henry, Carl and Harry Swartz; five sisters Emma Wilson, Edith Young, Minnie Sherman, Mary Collins and Annie Swartz.
