Reinhold Rauscher
STRASBURG, Colo. -- Reinhold W. Rauscher, 82, of Strasburg, Colo., formerly of Grand Island, died Saturday July 21, 2001.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist in Grand Island. The Rev. Del Roper will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Sutton cemetery in Sutton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Rauscher was born on Oct. 29, 1918, at Clay County to Wihelm P. and Martha (Ulmer) Rauscher. He attended District 8 School in Clay County.
He married
Alta M. Carriker on Dec. 23, 1945, at Harvard. The couple farmed in Clay County for two years. They moved to Saronville where they farmed until 1957.
In 1958, they moved to Grand Island where he attended the Grand Island School of Business and received his junior accounting degree. They then lived in Giltner and Cairo while he worked for grain elevators. They moved to Hastings in 1960 where he worked for Dutton Lainson Wholesale as a bookkeeper. In 1972, he worked for the Ordnance Plant in Grand Island, and in 1974 the couple moved to Grand Island where he worked for L&L; Distributing as a receiving and stock clerk until he retired in 1984.
In 2000, he moved to Strasburg, Colo., where he became involved with senior activities.
He enjoyed woodworking.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island for many years and later the Strasburg Community Church.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Steven Humphrey of Strasburg, Colo., and Susie and Thomas Hitchcock of Huron, S.D.; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Frieda Dobler of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister and six brothers.
'Lee' Wittman Sr.
BILLINGS, Mont. -- Frederick Leroy "Lee" Wittman Sr., 40, of Billings, Mont., died Friday, July 20, 2001, at his home.
Services were Tuesday at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings and will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harvest Time Baptist Church in Grand Island. Rob Inge will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Wittman was born June 2, 1961, in Grand Island to Donald and Mary (Sandquist) Mulinix. He attended Grand Island Public Schools and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School.
He was married
and had two children. He moved to Billings in 1986.
Survivors include his parents; a daughter, Joan Dell of Billings; a son, Frederick L. Wittman Jr. of Billings; brothers and sisters-in-laws and sisters and brothers-in-law, Tony Mulinix of Hastings, Danny and Donelle Mulinix of Greeley, Colo., Curtis Mulinix of Grand Island, Mike Mulinix of Long Beach, Calif., Linda Oxarart of Central City, Ricky Wittman of Littleton, Colo., and Donald A. and Patty Mulinix, Tony and Kristy Casarez, Cindy Mulinix, Johnny Mulinix and Jeffery Mulinix, all of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Sandquist, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wittman and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Mulinix.
Luella Brase
Luella Brase, 86, of Grand Island died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at her residence in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Brase was born Aug. 6, 1912, to George and Johanna (Siedel) Supencheck at David City. She grew up and attended school in Platte County.
She married
John Brase Aug. 2, 1933, in Columbus. She was a housewife and mother and also managed the Country Club in Fullerton for 17 years. She worked in Fullerton Hospital for five years and, upon her retirement, she moved to Grand Island in 1979.
She volunteered at the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the YMCA. She attended the Methodist and Catholic churches.
Survivors include a son, David; three sisters, Rose Hargens of Omaha, Marcella Cobb of Fullerton and Betty Dubas of Fullerton; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers and two sisters.
Charles Davis
Charles H. Davis, 80, of Grand Island died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending with Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Norah Davison
CENTRAL CITY -- Norah E. Davison, 77, of Central City died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at Integrated Health Services in Central City.
Grave-side services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rosehill cemetery in Palmer. The Rev. Gilbert Larsen will officiate. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Davison was born Jan. 14, 1922, in Reading, England, to Harold and Enid (Ward) Dicker. She grew up in England and Wales where she attended various schools.
She married
Glenn A. Davison on June 7, 1944, in Minchinhampton, England. She moved to the United States in 1946 and worked at Augustine's Book Binding and Wolbach's Department Store in Grand Island. She moved to Denver, Colo., and then to the Chicago area where she worked at Marshall Fields and Jerrold's Bridal Shop. She moved to Central City in 1991 where she was a resident at Integrated Health Services at the time of her death.
Mrs. Davison was an avid reader and loved baseball.
Survivors include one son, John of Central City; one sister, Irene Dixon of Sommerville; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Robert Dicker.
Florence 'Tina' Gappa
ASHTON -- Florence C. "Tina" Gappa, 83, of Ashton died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at Paplin with the Rev. Larry Coulter officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with an 8 p.m. rosary at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Gappa was born Oct. 20, 1915, on the family farm north of Loup City to Alozy and Regina (Grudzinski) Ziola. She attended Sherman County District No. 31 rural school. Upon completing her education, she worked at the Fairmont Creamery in Loup City and did housekeeping for several area families.
She married
Leo Gappa on Oct. 21, 1941, at Loup City. The couple farmed northeast of Ashton for many years. Mr. Gappa died on Feb. 2, 1981, and Mrs. Gappa moved into Ashton in September of 1981.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, its Altar Society and its Rosary Sodality.
Survivors include one son, Howard Gappa of Ashton; five daughters, Renee (Mrs. Delbert) Jonak and Deloris (Mrs. Jim) Stanczyk, both of Ashton, Sharon (Mrs. Dennis) Pedersen of Elba, Maxine Lewandowski of St. Paul and Linda (Mrs. Jerry) Polski of Elba; 24 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ernest Ziola of St. Paul.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, LeRoy Gappa; one daughter, JoAnn Gappa; one great-granddaughter and one brother, Ben Ziola.
