Robert Rockford
Robert "Bob" Rockford, 64, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Services are pending with Kleine Funeral Home.
Gabriel Sanchez
Gabriel Moises Sanchez, 7 months, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Roland Borgstahl
WOOD RIVER -- Roland Borgstahl, 88, of Wood River, formerly of Dennison, Iowa, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at his home.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Shelton. The Rev. Jack Heck will officiate. Further services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Huebner Funeral Home in Dennison, Iowa. Private family burial will be at Morgan cemetery near Schleswig, Iowa, following the service.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to service time Wednesday at the church in Shelton and from 1 p.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home in Dennison, Iowa.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mr. Borgstahl was born on Aug. 28, 1912, at Howells to John and Agnes (Neuman) Borgstahl. When he was 2 years old, his family moved to Webster, Minn., where he was educated at Webster Rural Parochial School.
He married
Vernetta Grell on June 10, 1936, at Zion Lutheran Church in Dennison. They lived in the Dennison area, where he farmed. They moved in 1961 to Omaha, where he worked as a cement finisher. He retired in 1978.
Mrs. Borgstahl died in March 1983. Mr. Borgstahl moved to Shelton in 1984 and then to Wood River in 1997.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Shelton. He enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs, fishing, woodworking and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Rick of Wood River and John of Shelton; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Garnett Arnold of Dennison, Iowa, and Marcella Jenkins of Storm Lake, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, David; one brother; three stepbrothers; and one stepsister.
Erma Landon
LOUP CITY -- Erma M. Landon, 83, of Loup City died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Loup City with the Revs. Douglas DeNeui and Kevin Nihart officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Loup City.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Missionary Fund.
Miss Landon accepted the Lord while in high school, was baptized on Oct. 25, 1942, and joined Balsora Baptist Church. She maintained her membership there until 1947, when she transferred to the First Baptist Church in Loup City. She taught junior and primary Sunday school classes at First Baptist for more than 40 years.
'Art' Webb
ST. PAUL -- Arthur J. "Art" Webb, 85, of St. Paul died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The Rev. Marsha Jark-Swain will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rose Hill cemetery in Palmer.
There will be no visitation. Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the church or St. Francis Medical Center Hospice.
Mr. Webb was born on Jan. 3, 1916, in West Point to Edward and Carolina (Jurgensen) Webb. At the age of 5, he moved with his family to a farm in Nance County. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural school in the area.
He married
Edna McCoig on Aug. 6, 1936, in Columbus. They lived and farmed north of Palmer for 62 years. They moved into St. Paul in 1998.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Randy of Kearney; three daughters, Nancy Oeltjen of St. Paul and Juanita (Mrs. Bernard) Hirsch and Katherine (Mrs. Dale) Shaw, both of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Charlotte Baker of St. Paul and Ethel Larsen of Stromsburg.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Thelma; and three brothers, Alva, Edward and Elwood.
Mildred Frederick
BEATRICE -- Mildred Frederick, 88, of Beatrice died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, at Parkview Center in Beatrice.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell with Pastor Marty Robbins officiating.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
A memorial has been established to the Beatrice Humane Society or the Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation.
Miss Frederick was born on Feb. 26, 1912, at Adams to William and Mary (Atkins) Frederick. The family later moved to the Garfield and Loup County areas. She lived in that area until 1958, when she moved to Beatrice.
She worked as an examiner at Formfit. She retired after 14 years so she could care for her father.
Miss Frederick was a longtime member of the Beatrice Business and Professional Women's Club. She enjoyed gardening, reading, handcrafts and caring for her dog.
Survivors include a sister, Louise Frederick of Beatrice; a sister-in-law, Betty Frederick of Taylor; and two nieces, Vicki (Mrs. Bill) Shottenkirk of Grand Island and Lyn (Mrs. Charles) Nelson of Taylor.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell; and a sister, Doris Frederick.
Henry Nickels
BEATRICE -- Henry L. Nickels, 88, of Beatrice died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. The Rev. David Stout will officiate.
There will be no visitation. A register book will be available at the mortuary for signatures.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Nickels was born on April 22, 1912, in Beatrice to William and Anna (Rahorst) Nickels. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1930.
He married
Jeanette Currier in 1933. They lived in Beatrice for five years before moving to California, where he worked for Douglas Aircraft. He moved back to Beatrice in 1944 and bought Zigs Inn, while doing cabinet building on the side. He started working for Keys Manufacturing in the early 1950s and retired from there in 1960.
He married
Hazel Langley on Feb. 27, 1960. They lived in Pickrel until 1995, when they moved to Beatrice. He returned to woodworking until retiring for health reasons.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; two sons, Henry "Skip" Nickels of Charlotte, N.C., Gary Nickels of Chapman and Garry Ridgley of Wahoo; two daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Robert) Fralin of Lincoln and Sharil (Mrs. Leonard) Prall; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
