Anne Zebert
Anne E. Zebert, 48, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001 at her home after an illness.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the United Congregational Church. The Rev. Lonnie Logan will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Kleine Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society for Research or the Crane Meadows Nature Center.
Carl Christensen
TAYLOR -- Carl Christensen, 83, of Taylor died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Evangelical Free Church in Taylor. The Rev. Roy Kiester will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Ft. McPherson National cemetery in Maxwell with military rites.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rhoad Funeral Home in Sargent.
Memorials are suggested to Loup County Rescue Unit or the church of the donor's choice.
'Louie' Greenwalt
ELYRIA -- Aloysius "Louie" Greenwalt, 101, of Elyria died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Bob Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in Ord Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ord Memorial Chapel with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the church or donor's choice.
Leo Haith
CENTRAL CITY -- Leo G. Haith, 81, of Central City died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Central City. The Rev. Joy Savage will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Lillian Nickerson
KEARNEY -- Lillian I. Nickerson, 89, of Kearney died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Ravenna Good Samaritan Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church. The Revs. Charles Torpey and Tim Stoner will officiate. Burial will be in Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary chapel in Kearney with a wake service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the church or Ravenna Good Samaritan Center.
Mrs. Nickerson was born March 31, 1912, on a farm in Valley County north of Ord to Frank and Julia (Slavacek) Krikae. She graduated from Comstock High School in 1930 and then attended Grand Island Business College. She worked in Grand Island until 1938 when she moved to Kearney.
She married
Fred L. "Nick" Nickerson. Her husband died March 20, 1980.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and Eagle's Auxiliary in Kearney for more than 50 years.
Survivors include a brother, Emil Krikae of Renton, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and a sister.
'Minnie' Risan
ORD -- Wilhemenia "Minnie" Risan, 93, of Ord died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at her home 12 miles northeast of Ord.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Bob Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in Ord Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Risan was born June 7, 1908, on a farm south of St. Paul to Louie and Mary (Tuma) Svoboda. She attended school at Elm Creek, Brick School and Sumner and graduated from Farwell High School. She lived in Omaha and Ord doing housework after graduating.
She married
Ernest Risan on April 2, 1934, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Farwell. The couple lived on the family farm 12 miles northeast of Ord. She was the caretaker of her mother-in-law, Frances Risan, from 1934 to 1958. Her husband died in 1990. She remained on the farm until her death.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and the Catholic Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, cards, crocheting, sewing, quilting and embroidering.
Survivors include three daughters, Evangeline Svitak of Chapman and Donna Ries and Mary Ann Zebert, both of Ord, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son-in-law, James Q. Ries; and two infant brothers.
Harold Roach
ST. PAUL -- Harold I. Roach, 92, of St. Paul died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Doniphan. The Rev. Steve Major will officiate. Burial will be in Cedarview cemetery in Doniphan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Roach was born Jan. 22, 1909, at Sargent to Fred and Clara (Hohman) Roach. He received his education in Grand Island.
He married
Johanna Warnke on March 19, 1929, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple lived in Omaha. He was employed by the Jesse Bakery in Grand Island for 32 years. He then managed the Scoular-Bishop fertilizer plant in Boelus for several years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockville. He was an avid rock collector and operated Red's Rock Shop for several years in Boelus.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Harold Roach Jr., Michael Roach and Stanley Roach, all of Doniphan, Eugene Roach of Ashton, Gerald Roach of Ft. McCoy, Fla., and Gregory Roach of Palmer; seven daughters, Patricia Nunnenkamp of California City, Calif., Charlotte Tully of Belton, Mo., Antoinette "Toni" Hurst of Doniphan, Suzanne Kelsey of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Janet Hill of Osteen, Fla., Carol Caudill of Grand Island and Karen McIntosh of Colton, Ore.; 42 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Roach of Central City; and four sisters, Marion Dahlke of St. Paul, Dorothy Worrell of Burleigh, Idaho, Ruth Henning of Lincoln and Joyce Hodtwalker of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kaye Kelsey; five brothers, Vern, Jim, Bob, Lee and Billy Roach; and two sisters, Lucille and Doris.
Rhonda Gauthier
LINCOLN -- Rhonda M. Gauthier, 38, of Lincoln died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Hospice House in Omaha.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhorn. The Rev. Ron Wasokowski will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery in Elkhorn.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice House in Omaha.
Miss Gauthier was born Dec. 31, 1962, at Grand Island to Marlin and Jan (Gregg) Gauthier. She grew up in Grand Island where she attended Stolley Park Grade School, Barr Junior High School and Grand Island Senior High School, graduating in 1981. She also attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for one year and the School for the Visually Impaired in Lincoln for two years.
After her schooling, she worked for one year at the School for the Visually Impaired. After a short period of employment, she worked for two years at Husker Cab Company in Lincoln as a dispatcher until her health forced her to quit.
She was active in church and volunteer work for the blind and enjoyed being with her friends.
Survivors include her parents of Omaha; two brothers, Mark Gauthier of Pawleys Island, S.C., and Perry Gauthier of Lincoln; and a sister, Renee Mack of Omaha.
