Clarice Luby
Clarice L. Luby, 71, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Wedgewood Care Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Kleine Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cameron cemetery near Cairo.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family in her name.
Rosella Anding
ALBION -- Rosella E. Anding, 94, of Albion died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel-Zion Lutheran Church in rural Albion. The Rev. Bruce Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery in Madison.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Miss Anding was born Aug. 29, 1907, in Madison County to Charles and Ellen (Reigle) Anding. The family moved to a farm in Boone County in 1918. She attended District 52 School in Madison County and District 73 School in Boone County. She became a member of the Immanuel-Zion Lutheran Church in rural Albion in 1927.
She kept house for her brothers on the farm from 1928 to 1936. She then moved to California for two years where she worked and visited relatives. In 1939, she lived in Lincoln and then in 1947 she moved to Norfolk where she was employed at Montgomery Ward. In 1949, she moved back to the farm and kept house for her brother until moving to Albion in 1983. She entered the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion on Sept. 7, 2001.
Survivors include five nieces and nephews, including Donald and his wife Ellie Anding and Larry and his wife Judy Anding, all of Albion.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy, Lester and Guy Anding and a sister, Viola Anding.
Charles Harrold
HASTINGS -- Charles R. Harrold, 55, of Hastings died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Hastings. The Rev. Judith Allen will officiate. Private burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday with family present from 6 to 9 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Harrold was born Dec. 9, 1945, at Bloomington, Ill., to Ross and Alice (Bottrell) Harrold. In 1964, he graduated from high school in Wapella, Ill. He graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana, Ill., in 1968.
He married
Martha Ellis on June 10, 1967, in Wapella. After graduating, he worked for Illinois Foundation Seeds in Champaign, Ill., from 1968 to 1974. He worked for Edward J. Funk & Sons from 1974 to 1984 as product manager at Kentland, Ind. He was a founding partner of Ag Venture, Inc. in Kentland from 1984 to 1986. He moved to Hastings in 1986 and was manager of operations for NC+ Hybrids until his retirement in 2001.
He was a member of Covenant Federation Church in Kentland and American Seed Trade Association. He also was a member of Masonic No. 50, A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rites, Elks Lodge and Southern Hills Golf, all in Hastings.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Adam Harrold of Lincoln; a daughter and son-in-law, Penny Harrold de Gonzalez and Jorge Gonzalez of Monterrey, Mexico; a grandchild; a sister, Carol Harrold of Hastings; and a brother, Roy Harrold of Clinton, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Clara Janulewicz
LOUP CITY -- Clara A. Janulewicz, 99, of Loup City died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reginald A. Urban will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Loup City.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City with a rosary at 4 p.m., and from 6 to 9 p.m. at the church with a vigil at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Janulewicz was born June 7, 1902, at Duncan to Michael and Mary (Wondra) Eurek. In 1910, she moved to Sherman County.
She married
Joe Janulewicz in 1920.
She enjoyed crocheting, working with flowers in her garden, prayer, fishing and friends.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Jean Janulewicz of Ashton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and John Riskowski of Omaha, Betty and Harry Czarnek of Houston, and Mary Spotanski of Ashton; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Thomas; a daughter-in-law, Emily; and a son-in-law, Hubert.
Bernice Kelly
ALBION -- Bernice E. Kelly, 85, of Albion, formerly of Bayard, Iowa, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services are pending at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Barbara Phelps
CLARKS -- Barbara Phelps, 85, of Clarks, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at her daughter's home in North Platte.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church near Clarks. The Rev. Valjean Warman will officiate. Burial will be in the Bureau Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.
Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Phelps was born Nov. 14, 1916, at Clarks to Gustave and Catherine (Gorgen) Schultz. She attended Pleasant Hill School and graduated from Clarks High School in 1935.
She married
Harvey Phelps on June 5, 1938, in Merrick County. They lived in Merrick County and farmed. Mr. Phelps died on Oct. 29, 1972.
In 1973, Mrs. Phelps began working at Simonson-Kramer Veterinary Clinic in Fullerton. She worked there until retiring at age 81 and lived on her farm near Clarks until moving to live with her daughter in North Platte in May.
She was a member of the Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church, served as president of the Senior Center in Clarks, served on the Bureau cemetery Board at Pierce Chapel and was active in local cancer drives.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Arlis Phelps of Clarks; one daughter and son-in-law, Rex and Doris Anne Cross of North Platte; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Bobby Schultz of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Irene Schultz of Clarks; and a sister-in-law, Irene Schultz of Columbus.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy, Frank and Henry Schultz; and two sisters, Caroline Craig and Clara Graves.
'Bud' Sample
ALBION -- Albert "Bud" Sample, 101, of Albion, formerly of Fullerton, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare in Columbus.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Valjean Warman will officiate. Burial will be in Fullerton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Robert Lee Shoemaker-Ferrick
HASTINGS -- Robert Lee Shoemaker-Ferrick, 4, the son of Bryan F. Ferrick of Long Branch, N.J., and Debra Shoemaker-Ferrick of Hastings, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at his home in Hastings.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Butler-Volland Chapel in Hastings. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery in Hastings.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Grand Island Physical Therapy Children's Center in Grand Island.
Robert was born Nov. 21, 1997, in Long Branch, N.J. He moved to Hastings with his mother in September 2000. He attended Hawthorne Pre-School and therapy classes at Grand Island Physical Therapy Children's Center.
He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and NEAT in Phillips.
Survivors include his parents; half-sisters, Gomma Ferrick and Kayla Ferrick of New Jersey; and grandparents, Donna Shoemaker of Hastings and Cathy Ferrick of Brigantine, N.J.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Robert Shoemaker and Frank Ferrick.
