Ryan Nelson
ORD -- Ryan C. Nelson, 18, of Ord died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ord High School Gymnasium. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery. The Rev. Gerald Roggow, the Rev. Roger Leavitt and the Rev. Alfred Broady will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Ryan Nelson Memorial Fund.
Mr. Nelson was born Jan. 16, 1983, at Ord to Glen and Denise (Knight) Nelson. He grew up in rural Ord and was a senior at Ord High School.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, NASCAR races and Ford automobiles. He was an avid Huskers and 49'ers football fan. He also enjoyed watching his peers play high school sports.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Kasi Nelson of Ord; grandmother, Gloria Knight of Ord; grandparents, Les and Mary Ann Nelson of Ord; and great-grandmother, Billie Veskerna of Ord.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles "Bud" Knight.
Carl Rasmussen
75, retired farmer
NORTH LOUP -- Carl C. Rasmussen Jr., 75, of North Loup, died Monday, Oct., 8, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Inurnment will be in Hillside cemetery in North Loup.
Memorials are suggested to the North Loup Community Building through the Harmony Extension Club or the North Loup-Scotia Rescue Unit.
Mr. Rasmussen was born April 21, 1926, at Rockville to Carl Sr. and Marie (Keldsen) Rasmussen. He grew up in the Rockville area, where he attended rural school District No. 12 and the Rockville Public School.
He attended and graduated from the Loup City High School in 1944. He then farmed with his parents in the Rockville area.
In 1949, he and his parents moved to a farm in the North Loup area. He lived there and farmed with his parents until they died, by which time he was retired. He continued to live on the farm.
He was affiliated with the Scotia Baptist Church and enjoyed raising purebred shorthorn cattle.
Survivors include a nephew and his wife, Densel and Carolyn Rasmussen of Grand Island and a niece and her husband, Cindy and Tom Zimmer of Norfolk.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lyle.
Amelia Sell
86, Homemaker and farm wife
ARCADIA -- Amelia G. Sell, 85, of Arcadia died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Arcadia United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Brian will officiate. Burial will be in Lee Park cemetery west of Arcadia.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ord Memorial Chapel with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Lee Park cemetery Association, the Arcadia United Methodist Church or to the Arcadia Fire and Rescue Unit Fund.
James Snyder
86, Self-employed
FULLERTON -- James D. Snyder, 86, of Fullerton, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Valjean Warman will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Thelma Weeks
KEARNEY -- Thelma E. Weeks, 85, of Gibbon, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services are pending with the Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon.
Jack Lee
BEDFORD, Ind. -- Jack D. Lee, 73, of Bedford, Ind., died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Phillips and the Rev. Darrell Flynn will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Run cemetery in Lawrence County, Ind.
Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lee was born Feb. 12, 1928, at Bedford, Ind., to Thomas L. and Roxie (Smith) Lee.
He married
Etta M. Englehaupht. They were later divorced.
He married
Zellma L. Grubbs Spinks on Dec. 25, 1975, in Orleans, Ind. He was a truck driver. He retired from Peake, Inc.
He was a member of Bedford Boat and Sportmen's Club, Teamsters Union, an avid fisherman and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Rick Spinks of Bedford, Ind., Byron Wilson of Grand Island; Jack H. Lee of Bedford, Ind., and Nathan Lee of Bedford, Ind.; six daughters, Linda Kavanaugh of Linton, Ind., Kathy Ruyan of Ellettaville, Ind., Cindy Inman of Linton, Ind., Ramona Stultz of Bedford, Ind., Sarah Stewart of Indianapolis, Ind., and Shelia Terrell of Bedford, Ind.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a sister, Juanita Meadows of Bedford, Ind.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Jim and Bob Lee.
Orville Henderson
Orville R. Henderson, 85, of Grand Island died Tuesday July 24, 2001, at the Nebraska Veterans Home.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Virginia Kerr
83, Homemaker
Virginia Kerr, 83, of Grand Island, formerly of Hastings, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at St. Francis Skilled Care in Grand Island.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Butler-Volland Chapel in Hastings. The Rev. Julie Bringelson will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the services Saturday. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice in Grand Island.
Mrs. Kerr was born June 21, 1918, at Sutton to John and Ida (Biegert) Willey. She graduated from Sutton High School in 1936. She graduated from Hastings Beauty Academy in 1938. She was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II from Aug. 4, 1943, to Dec. 16, 1945.
She married
Dean D. Kerr on May 23, 1944. They lived in North Platte before moving to Hastings where they lived for 45 years. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Hastings.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Sandy Kerr of Grand Island, and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and three sisters.
