Marvin Faling
Marvin R. Faling, 83, of Grand Island died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at his home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rudge Chapel in Lincoln. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate. Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery in Lincoln.
There will be no visitation. Mr. Faling's body was cremated.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert and Ann Marie Faling of Washington, D.C., and Jeffrey and Andrea Faling of Lincoln; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marva Jo and James Morgan and Janice Faling-Fortner and Clark, all of Aurora, Colo.; and a grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Faling; and two sisters, Dorothy Faling and Marjorie Currier.
Ramiro I. Garcia

Ramiro I. Garcia, infant son of Remijio I. Garcia and Isabell Lopez of Grand Island, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jose Chavez will officiate. Burial will be in Babyland of Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Ramiro was born Sept. 29, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Survivors include his parents; grandmother and stepgrandfather, Teresa Delacruz and Jose Guitterez of Grand Island; grandfather, Carlos Lopez of Austin, Texas; and grandmother, Rebecca Torrez of Lansing, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jose Garcia.
Vernon Johnson
Vernon B. Johnson, 82, of Grand Island died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Beverly Health Care-Lakeview in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kleine Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Faith Methodist Church or the family in his name.
Survivors include his wife, Erma and three daughters, Gale Enevoldson of Grand Island, Barbara Huryta of Elwood and Myrna Glause of Grand Island.

Cecilia M. Nason, 63, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at BryanLGH in Lincoln

Gladys Hackett
KEARNEY -- Gladys M. Hackett, 87, of Kearney died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney. The Rev. Dr. Ron Roemmich will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Ord Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Hackett was born Jan. 8, 1914, in rural Ericson to Fay and Cleo (Van Horn) Patrick. She grew up in Wheeler County and graduated from high school in Ericson. She received her licensed practical nurse training in Kearney.
She married
Jay M. Hackett on July 5, 1935, in Ord. The couple lived in Ord, Kearney and at Johnson Lake. She was employed at the T.B. Hospital in Kearney, Kearney Clinic, St. John's Good Samaritan Center and the Elwood Care Center.
She was a member of the Chapel of the Lake at Johnson Lake. She was an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Jay K. Hackett of Greeley, Colo.; three daughters, Sharon Fehringer of Sidney, Carol Kealy of Waterloo, Ill., and Sandra Hindalong of Floral City, Fla.; five brothers, Don Patrick of Scotia, Bill Patrick of Hastings, George Patrick of Scotia, Gene Patrick of Casper, Wyo., and Kenneth Patrick of Ashboro, N.C.; two sisters, Gertrude Vogeler of North Loup and Beth Hill of Ord; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Timmerman; and a brother, Paul Patrick.
Harry Schamp
ORD -- Harry W. Schamp, 76, of Ord died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell. The Rev. Murry Johnston will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Mr. Schamp's body was cremated.
Hitchcock Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Donna Braun
Donna L. Braun, 56, of Grand Island died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Salvation Army Church at Seventh and Sycamore streets. Mrs. Braun was cremated, and inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Melissa Combs of San Pedro, Calif., Nadine Anderson of Grand Island and Tammy Johnson of Bradshaw; one son, Robert Miller of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Alvin Kolb of Grand Island; and a sister, Bertha Hines of Washington.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Detra; and her parents, Fenner Eugene and Helen Lucille (James) Kolb.
David Ellington
David Al Ellington, 55, of Grand Island, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. H. Allen Runyon will officiate. Following services, Mr. Ellington will be cremated. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Mr. Ellington was born Jan. 5, 1944, to Forrest "Bud" and Betty (Talbott) Ellington at Mattoon, Ill. The family came to Grand Island in 1953. He attended schools in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1962.
After graduating, he was employed by Herman Plumbing before going into business for himself. He was self-employed in the plumbing and excavating business for nearly 30 years.
He married
Earlene Jenkins on April 3, 1965 in Grand Island.
He invented and patented a portable concrete breaker.
He enjoyed horses and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Todd Ellington of Omaha; and one brother, Robert Ellington of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joe D. Ellington.
