Frank Dutcher
GREELEY -- Frank Charles Dutcher, 91, of Greeley died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at the Greeley Care Home in Greeley.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Scotia Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Middendorf will officiate. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Greeley City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church, Greeley Rescue Unit or the donor's choice.

Margery Melkus
Margery Melkus, a longtime Grand Island resident and widow of the late Leonard Melkus, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Velma Reed
ANSLEY -- Velma B. Reed, 82, of Ansley, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Ansley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sherry Sklenar will officiate. Burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to the Ansley United Methodist Church or the rescue unit.
Mrs. Reed was born on Jan. 2, 1918, in Warrensburg, Mo. to Edwin and Alta (Dennis) Nierstheimer. As a young girl, she lived in Ohiowa and in 1930 her family moved to the Dry Valley community. She attended Dry Valley High School and graduated in 1935.
She married
Frank Reed in 1940 at the Custer County Fair. They lived north of Milburn for one year and then moved back to the Algeron community. Most of their married
life they lived in the Ansley-Mason City area.
Survivors include two sons, Larry and Lonnie, both of Ansley; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Irven Nierstheimer of Broken Bow.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Magdalen Sautter
SCOTIA -- Magdalen V. Sautter, 96, of Scotia died Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at the Howard County Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Scotia Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Middendorf will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope cemetery in Scotia.
Visitation will be prior to the service at the church Monday.
Memorials are suggested to the Scotia Zion Lutheran Church or the Scotia Rescue Unit.
Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sautter was born Aug. 5, 1904, in Deshler to Charles and Lousia (Thom) Landgraf. She grew up in the Scotia area and was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She married
Guy Sautter on July 3, 1925, in Scotia. She was a school teacher for many years. She taught at Cotesfield, District 42 School and retired from North Loup Scotia Elementary.
Her favorite activities were playing bridge and working at the Scotia Public Library.
Survivors include one daughter, Thelma (Mrs. Merlyn) Schudel of Scotia; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Hattie Menze of Bellevue Wash.; and one brother, Edward Landgraf of Porterville, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, Leona Thomas, Mable Varner and Esther Splittgerber and an infant brother.
Berenice Belford
IRVINE, Calif. -- Berenice Beckman Belford of Irvine, Calif., died Aug. 7, 2000, at the Windcrest Convalescent Home of Irvine.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Grand Island Cemetery. The Rev. Tim Anderson will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Mrs. Belford was cremated.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Belford was born to Alfred and Hannal Beckman.
She married
Leslie Belford on June 2, 1932, at Hastings. The couple lived in Grand Island. In 1977, the couple moved to California. Mr. Belford died in 1980.
While living in Grand Island, she was a worthy matron of Eastern Star, charter member and president of Chapter EZ, PEO Sisterhood and an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
She also belonged to a sewing club and enjoyed gardening and baking.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters.
Merna Davis
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Merna M. Davis, 91, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday Sept. 14, 2000, at Tucson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 2, at the Cameron Cemetery. The Rev. Delvin Roper will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Oct. 1, with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Revs. Delvin Roper and Jim Keyser will officiate.

Mrs. Davis was born June 23, 1909, to Carl and Mabel (Taylor) McGlasson in Wood River. She graduated from Wood River High School in 1927. She graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University at Lincoln in 1931.
She married
Laurence R. Davis on Aug. 26, 1931, in Wood River. The couple lived in Evanston, Ill., where she was a substitute teacher in the public schools and later a social worker for the Unemployment Relief Services in Chicago. While her husband was an army chaplain in World War II, she worked at a doctor's office in Wahoo.
After her husband was discharged in 1945, the couple returned to Nebraska where she was a substitute teacher in the Lincoln Public Schools. For a number of years, she taught Bible study class in Fremont and Grand Island. She served with her husband, the Rev. Davis, at the United Methodist churches in Decatur, Oakland, Wahoo, Lexington, Lincoln, Grand Island and Fremont/Nickerson. In the late 1970s and 1980s she worked as a volunteer at the Memorial Hospital in Grand Island. In 1999, she moved to Tucson to be closer to her older daughter and son-in-law.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, PEO Chapter EH, Grand Island Woman's Club, Wahoo Eastern Star, and United Methodist Women. She served in both district and conference offices in the United Methodist Women. She was active in alumni activities at Nebraska Wesleyan, including serving as a secretary of the Alumni Association, a member of the Women's Educational council and a class representative for the alumni association. In 1988, she and her husband received the Medal of Honor for service to Nebraska Wesleyan University in recognition of their years of service to the church, the university and the community.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Ben) Roe of Denver and Jeanne (Mrs. Tom) George of Tucson; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a brother, C.M. McGlasson of Omaha.
Leona Nissen
AURORA -- Leona Frances Nissen, 80, of Kronborg, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg. The Rev. Jack Eske will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
Mrs. Nissen was born on a farm near Marquette on Nov. 8, 1919, to Sigvard and Julia (Kaae) Andersen. She grew up on the family farm near Marquette.
She attended rural school and graduated from Marquette High School. She attended Midland College for teachers training. She taught rural school for five years. She spent one summer employed in Santa Barbara, Calif., prior to her marriage.
She married
Guilford Nissen on March 22, 1942, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg.
She served as a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, was in the Parent Teacher Organization and received an Honorary Life Membership for service at the State Level. She was employed for the World Book Products. She and her husband were involved in a prison ministry, including opening their home to assist prisoners from prison life to civilian life. The couple retired from the farm to Kronborg in 1969.
Her enjoyed writing letters to family members. With her husband, she enjoyed entertaining her young grandchildren in the summers.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Marlys (Mrs. Alex) Snyder of Marquette; two sons, LaWayne of Marquette and Leo of Lincoln; one sister, Stella Danhauer of Aurora; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Herluff and Elwood; one sister, Helga Kauffman; and one granddaughter.
