Della Fowle
Della M. Fowle, 83, of Grand Island, formerly of Fremont, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Riverside Lodge Retirement Community.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fremont Alliance Church at Fremont. The Revs. Curt Holzworth and Phil Ronzheimer will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge cemetery in Fremont.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Lola Silk
Lola L. Silk, 93, of Grand Island, formerly of St. Paul, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Park Place Nursing Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Denny Silk will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery at St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Howard County Historical Society or the family.
Mrs. Silk was born on April 6, 1907, in Greeley County to Pete and Bessie (Imus) Berney. She was educated in a rural school nine miles northeast of Wolbach. After her schooling, she played piano for a band and also worked at the Glen View Hotel in Wolbach.
She married
Tim Silk on July 5, 1927, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple farmed near Wolbach and then moved to the Cushing area, where they farmed for 40 years.
They moved to St. Paul in October 1968. She worked at the Heritage Living Center for five years. Her husband died on May 28, 1993. She moved to the Coleridge Center in Palmer on Sept. 1, 1994, and then to Park Place Nursing Home in Grand Island on May 2, 2000.
Her hobbies included making afghans.
Survivors include one son, Wayne of Mesa, Ariz.; three daughters, Fern (Mrs. Max) Kunze of Grand Island, Lavona (Mrs. Fay) Gillham of Scotia and Connie (Mrs. Gary) Parmley of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Virgil Berney of Palmer; and one sister, Velda Vogt of Green City, Mo.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Leland and Loyal.
Alexander Donovan
ORD -- Alexander Jacob Donovan, infant son of Matthew and Deborah (Martin) Donovan of Ord, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart cemetery in Greeley. The Rev. Michael Chase will officiate. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Megan Donovan of Ainsworth; three brothers, Phillip Donovan of Ainsworth, Joseph Morrow of Elba and Caleb Donovan of Ord; paternal grandmother, Nancy Donovan of Greeley; maternal grandfather, David Martin of Edgewater, Colo.; and paternal great-grandmother, Monica Karre of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard Donovan.
Lillie Foth
ORD -- Lillie Ethel Foth, 98, of Ord died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mira Valley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Paixao Baptista will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the Valley County Hospital Foundation.
Mrs. Foth was born on Feb. 28, 1902, near the Fish Creek area of Scotia to Joseph and Sophia (Schoemaker) Cook. When she was a young child, the family moved to the Mira Valley area south of Ord. She attended District 9 School until the eighth grade and then attended Valley Side District 10 School. As a young woman, she helped her father on the family farm.
She married
Will Foth on Feb. 12, 1925, at her sister's farmstead in Mira Valley. The couple lived and farmed in Mira Valley all their lives. They moved to the Valley County Nursing Home in 1995. Mr. Foth died on June 30, 1997.
Mrs. Foth was a member of the Mira Valley United Methodist Church, where she was involved in various capacities including teaching Sunday school. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Mutual Benefit Extension Club and the Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (Mrs. Bryan) Peterson of Ord and Ellen Jean Weeks of Omaha; nine grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lois Ackerman of Aberdeen, S.D.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Henrietta Cook, Esther Lukesh and Anna Kingston.
Tillie Wuehler
COZAD -- Tillie Wuehler, 91, of Cozad died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Gothenburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad. The Rev. Robert E. Sachs will officiate. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
A memorial has been established.
Mrs. Wuehler was born on April 19, 1909, at Pleasanton to Amo and Bertha (English) Lammers. She attended rural school near Pleasanton.
She married
Carl Wuehler on June 7, 1930. They lived on farms at Amherst and Sumner before moving to Darr in 1950. They moved to Cozad in 1952. She worked as a cook at Cozad restaurants for 25 years.
After retiring, she operated a registered baby-sitting service, was an Avon representative and baked many pies for area functions and individuals. She also found time to crochet many items.
She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church of Lexington and transferred her membership to the American Lutheran Church of Cozad.
Survivors include two sons, Verlin and Eddie, both of Cozad; two daughters, Lola Mae (Mrs. Kenneth Sr.) Ver Maas of Lexington and Mardy (Mrs. Dave) Schley of Cairo; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Her husband died in 1983. She also was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Mary Walker
Mary E. Walker, 85, of the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island, died Saturday, July 22, 2000 at the Veterans Home.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
David Crick
HASTINGS -- David L. Crick, 50, of Hastings, died Saturday, July 22, 2000 at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Brand-Wilson Chapel in Hastings. The Rev. Steve Markel will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings.
Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the New Life Community Church or to the family's choice.
Mr. Crick was born on Feb. 18, 1950 in Grand Island to Bernard and Ilene (Bigger) Crick. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1969 and attended Central Community College.
He married
Glenda Frydendall on May 27, 1989. The couple lived in Hastings where he was employed by Major Oil.
He was a member of the New Life Community Church, the Masonic Lodge #50 in Hastings, the Knights of Pythias and the Four Rivers Sportsmen's Club. He was an avid bass fisherman.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; two daughters, Lisa Crick of Grand Island and April Dulitz of Hastings; one brother, Michael of Grand Island; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
