Dorothy M. Evans, 63, of Grand Island died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at St. Francis Skilled Care Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Kleine Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at 2 p.m. MST Friday in Gordon.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family in her name.
Rev. Robert Dana
68, Retired minister
HASTINGS -- The Rev. Robert G. Dana, 68, of Hastings died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Congregational United Church in Hastings. The Rev. Barry Rempp will officiate. There will be a private family burial.
Memorial book signing will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home with family present from 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hastings or Mary Lanning Hospice in Hastings.
Dana was born May 30, 1933, at St. Johnsbury, Vt., to Clarence H. and Priscilla G. (Scott) Dana. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in St. Johnsbury, Vt., in 1952. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt., in 1956. He received his bachelor of divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological Seminary in Boston in 1961.
He married
A. Sheffield Wilson on Aug. 22, 1964, in Charleston, S.C. He was a minister in the United Church of Christ in various locations. They moved from Cambridge to Hastings in 1990 where he was a pastor at First Congregational United Church of Christ. After retiring, he served as a substitute minister.
He was a member of First Congregational Church of Christ in Hastings. He held offices in the Nebraska Conference United Church of Christ, South Central Association United Church of Christ and Hastings Ministerial Association and Cotner Commission (continuing education for clergy). He was a past member and officer in Kiwanis and Hastings Family Planning Board.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Mark Gillen of Kearney and Elizabeth and Terry Piening of Holdrege; four grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Clarence H. Jr. and Irene Dana of Monroe, N.H.
Philip Dowse
COMSTOCK -- Philip R. Dowse, 92, of Comstock died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Sargent Nursing Center in Sargent.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent. The Rev. Don Schauda will officiate. Burial will be in Douglas Grove cemetery in Comstock.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Wescott Baptist Church near Comstock.
Clifford Parkin
BURWELL -- Clifford A. Parkin, 86, of Burwell died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. The Rev. Marty Robbins will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Memorials are suggested to the Burwell Ambulance Supply Fund.
Helen Hoscheit
77, Homemaker
PLAINVIEW -- Helen Hoscheit, 77, of Plainview died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton. The Rev. Grant H. Graff will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery in Plainview.
Mrs. Hoscheit was born on Dec. 4, 1923, at Tilden to Arthur and Katherine (Batterson) Edwards. She graduated from Neligh High School in 1941.
She married
Vernard A. Hoscheit on May 26, 1942, at Joplin, Mo. She was a homemaker and was involved with her husband's career in professional baseball.
She raised hybrid irises and enjoyed birdwatching and spending time at the cabin on the river. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Plainview.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy J. and Jim Brodhagen of Grand Island and Sheri A. and Tim Huigens of Plainview; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy R. and Michelle Hoscheit of Plainview; six grandchildren; and a stepgrandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Genese Munn
COLUMBUS -- Genese Munn, 71, of Columbus, formerly of Grand Island died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in Columbus.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.
Virginia Hight
Virginia E. Hight, 97, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.
Private family services took place at 2 p.m. Friday at Grand Island City Cemetery. The Rev. Frank Hoelck officiated.

Mrs. Hight was born Dec. 23, 1901, to Frank and Theresa (Piper) Hermes at Fort Madison, Iowa. She grew up and attended school in Fort Madison.
She married
William B. Hight on July 19, 1926, at Neosha, Iowa. The couple lived in the Midwest including Chicago, moved to California, then moved to Grand Island in 1944. They later owned and operated Hights Drive Inn Restaurant, retiring in 1965. Mr. Hight died in 1994.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She enjoyed trading stocks and investing.
Survivors include one son, William John Hight of Dallas; one daughter, Ruth Boeka of Grand Island; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, David Hight; one brother and three sisters.
Carmen Ramirez
Carmen Ramirez, 100, of Grand Island died Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Jose Chavez will officiate. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mrs. Ramirez was born July 16, 1899, at Lagos De Moreno, Jalisco, N.M. to Canuto and Ygnacia Contreras. She was educated in Mexico, and her family later moved to Kansas.
She married
Seferino Ramirez on July 9, 1929, in Horton, Kan. The couple lived in Kansas for five years before moving to Minnesota. They moved to Nebraska in 1933.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
Survivors include three sons, Nino Ramirez and Lalo Ramirez of Grand Island, and Max Ramirez of La Mesa, Calif.; three daughters, Della Martinez and Nellie Salinas of Grand Island, and Ramona Linares of San Jose, Calif.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Seferino Ramirez; one granddaughter; three brothers; and two sisters.
