Muriel McArthur
Muriel L. McArthur, 84, of Grand Island died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Kleine Funeral Home. The Rev. Cheryl Lamb will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Mrs. McArthur was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the Oncology Center.
Mrs. McArthur was born May 12, 1917, in Hastings to Guy and Nancy (Dew) Munn. She attended Hastings College and the University of Ohio. She was executive director of We-Fo-Braska and the Golden Rod Girl Scout Councils.
Survivors include two daughter's, Carol Nissen of Anchorage, Alaska and Kathy McArthur of Grand Island; one son, Robert Douglas Cruit of California; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel L. McArthur and one daughter, Nancy E. Glandt.
Glen McLean
87, Railroad Engineer
Glen L. McLean, 87, of Grand Island, formerly of Central City, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare Park Place in Grand Island.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Richard Fairbanks will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Pierce Chapel cemetery near Clarks.
Mr. McLean was cremated. There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. McLean was born on July 30, 1913, in Clarks, to Len and Iva (Inbody) McLean. He grew up in Clarks and attended school at Pleasant Hill and then graduated from Clarks High School in 1931.
He married
Ruby Haynes. The couple lived in Omaha where he was employed by Martin Bomber Plant and Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1979. He married
Lola J. Husman on July 14, 1969, and the couple moved to Central City where they lived for thirty years before moving to Grand Island in 1999.
He was a member of Pierce Chapel Church near Clarks and enjoyed working on automobiles and reading.
Survivors include his wife, Lola of Grand Island; one son, Francis McLean of Littleton, Colo.; one daughter, Elaine Shea of Omaha; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Joanne Husman of Wichita, Kansas; two step-daughters and one son-in-law, Yolanda and Tom Rathman of Grand Island and Sharron Ryba of Lincoln; five grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard McLean.
Cecil Cole
86, Heavy equipment owner and operator
BROKEN BOW -- Cecil L. Cole, 86, of Broken Bow, formerly of Merna, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Jim Stark will officiate. Burial and military rites will be in teh Merna cemetery with Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to the Anselmo Merna Scholarship Fund.
Mrs. Cole was born Jan. 19, 1915, at Merna to Alvin and Eva (Sommer) Cole. He attended school in Merna. Later he served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945.
On March 19, 1945, he married
Helen Zubrzycki. Mr. Cole worked as a heavy equipment owner and operator. The family lived for several years at Eagle, Colo. In 1970, they moved to Merna, where they lived since.
Mr. Cole was a member of the American Legion at Merna and was a lifetime honorary charter member of the Elks Lodge at Glenwood Springs, Colo.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Sue Cole and Gary and Beth Cole, all of Merna; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Wayne Cole of Casper, Wyo., and Bruce Cole of Henderson, Nev.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Cole; and brother, Dwight Cole.
Doyle Harders
70, U.S. Marine Corps
WOOD RIVER -- Doyle E. Harders, 70, of Wood River died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Riverside Lodge in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church in Cairo with the Rev. Glen Keylon officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church.

Mr. Harders was born Dec. 20, 1930, on the family farm north of Wood River to Ernest and Lula (Kroeger) Harders. He grew up north of Wood River and attended District 37 elementary school. He graduated from Cairo High School in 1948. He entered the United States Marine Corps on Aug. 6, 1951. He served as a tank operator on the front lines during the Korean Conflict and was honorable discharged on Aug. 5, 1953.
On Aug. 30, 1953, he married
Donna Smith at Wood River. The couple lived their entire married
life north of Wood River, where he farmed and fed cattle.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cairo and was past church elder. He was also a member of District 16 school board.
He enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Arizona and being with his family.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Lora and Gary and Lisa of Wood River; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Lonnie Spiehs of Boelus; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, Vernon and Lyle of Wood River.
Larry Langenberg
KEARNEY -- Larry Langenberg, 57, of Kearney died Friday, May 18, 2001, at the Grand Island Veteran's Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jer Gilbreath will officiate. Burial will be in the Overton cemetery with graveside military rites by VFW Post 759 and American Legion Post 52.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney and prior to service time Wednesday at the Church.

Mr. Langenberg was born on Feb. 20, 1944, in O'Neill to Henry A. and Thelma J. (Hart) Langenberg. When he was an infant, his family moved to Kearney where he lived since that time. He attended school in Kearney and then entered the service. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam and returned to Kearney after his discharge.
Survivors include his wife of Kearney; two daughters, Kami Brantley of New London, N.C., and Shari Luther of Aurora; two sons, Aaron and Jeff of Kearney; his father; two grandchidren and two brothers, Ron of Fairview Heights, Ill., and Tracy of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one son.
'Brad' Kaufman
42, Retired Restaurant Manager
SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Robert "Brad" Kaufman, 42, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Albion, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in San Diego after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Akron Presbyterian Church in Albion with the Rev. Mary Avidano officiating. Burial will be in the Akron cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion and V.F.W.
Visitation will be from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mr. Kaufman was born on May 28, 1958, in Friend to Bob and Carla (Gentry) Kaufman. He was baptized at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Friend and attended the Friend Public Schools, graduating in 1976.
Following high school, he moved to Hawaii, where he lived on the islands of Hilo and Wailuku. He attended the University of Hawaii for a short time, later working at the Hyatt Regency. He returned to Nebraska, where he worked as a chef at the Elks Club in Lincoln.
In 1980, he joined the United States Navy. He served on the USS Enterprise on the Flight Deck in Aviation Ordinance from 1981 to 1985, then as an "A" School Instructor in Aviation Ordinance from 1986 to 1991, in Millington, Tenn. He was discharged on Feb. 22, 1991. Following his discharge, he worked as a restaurant manager in San Diego until retiring in 1996, due to failing health.
Survivors include his mother, Carla Kaufman of Albion; and two sisters and brother-in-law, Valerie and John Hoover and Vicki Luscomb, all of Albion.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandmother, Matie Gentry.
