Leslie Isaacs
RAVENNA -- Leslie Isaacs, 71, of Ravenna, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Mark Cadenbach will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
'Dick' Whitaker
DONIPHAN -- Richard L. "Dick" Whitaker, 67, of Doniphan died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Doniphan United Methodist Church. The Rev. James Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedarview cemetery at Doniphan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the Doniphan Quick Response Team.
Mr. Whitaker was born May 24, 1934, at Hastings to Lewis C. and Bernadine A. (Vansant) Whitaker. He attended grade school in Rosedale and graduated from Doniphan High School in 1951.
He married
Susan Hendrickson on Jan. 17, 1954, at Doniphan. He worked for Weyerhauser Corp. in Hastings for 15 years. He later worked for MFS/York/Stormor in Grand Island, retiring in 1996.
He enjoyed refinishing antiques and traveling with his wife in their recreational vehicle.
He was a member of Doniphan United Methodist Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 378, served as scout master of Troop No. 251 from 1966 to 1972 and was a member of the Doniphan Volunteer Fire Departments, serving as fire chief in 1975.
Survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Carla Whitaker of Coppercove, Texas, Dan and Jeanne Whitaker of San Juan Capistrano and Roger and Reneé Whitaker of Golden, Colo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mike Gruener of Phillips; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, James Whitaker of Doniphan; and one sister, Mary Gloe of Wood River.
Robert Christensen
OMAHA -- Robert D. Christensen, 70, of Omaha, formerly of Grand Island, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, in Omaha after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Boyd E. Braman Mortuary in Omaha. The Rev. Michael Lincoln will officiate. Burial will be private. Mr. Christensen's body will be cremated.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association or Alegant Hospice.
Mr. Christensen was born Nov. 26, 1930, at Oval, Colo.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Clyde and Kathy Brown of Lincoln and Scott Brown of Omaha; six daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Sanchez of Omaha, Billie Joe and Leon Thompson and Bonnie Sue Keever, all of Lincoln, Cindy and Bruce Webster, Charlotte Koneck and Christine and Mark Webster, all of Blair; several grandchildren; three brothers, Jerry, Jim and Dennis Christensen; and three sisters, Betty Edwards, LaVonne Knuth and Dixie Christensen.
Orpha Hawthorne
VALENTINE -- Orpha A. Hawthorne, 84, of Valentine, formerly of Fullerton, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at Pine Valley Nursing Home in Valentine.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Fullerton.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Ariana Montgomery
LINCOLN -- Ariana C. "Pretty Princess" Montgomery, 6 weeks, daughter of Vern and Miki Montgomery of Lincoln, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Lincoln. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Kids Planet Daycare in Lincoln.
She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her parents; a brother, Darion; grandparents, Sharie Lemon of Chicago, Tom and Sherry Cook of Grand Island and the Rev. Homer Noley of Wilburton, Okla.; and great-grandparents, Norma J. Scott of Marianna, Ark., Don and Alice Allensworth of Macedonia, Iowa, and Mattie and Joyce Cook of Wilburton, Okla.
Dale Stewart
MADISON -- Dale N. Stewart, 91, of Madison died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Randall Ditts will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Resseguie Funeral Home in Madison.
Mr. Stewart was born April 6, 1910, on a farm near Dannebrog to Chancey and Bertha (Nielsen) Stewart.
He married
Eunice McMichael on April 30, 1933, at the Baptist Church in North Platte. The couple was married
for 63 years before her death in 1994.
He began his career as a tester for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association and later worked at the Tekamah Cooperative Co.
In 1936, the couple moved to Madison where he became the general manager of the Madison Co-op Butter Factory later the Madison Co-op Creamery. During his tenure, the Madison Co-op Creamery became the largest separated cream producer in the U.S. In the 1970s, he acquired the Hotel Madison and remodeled it into the present Elmdale Apartments.
He attended University of Nebraska College of Agriculture, served as president of the Nebraska Co-op Creameries, Inc., and organized the American Dairy Association of Nebraska, which he served as president for 14 years. He also served the AMA as treasurer and on its executive board. He was a member of the Masons, Odd Fellows, Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club. He also had represented Madison on the Madison County Planning and Zoning Commission. In 1999, he was inaugurated in Nebraska Co-op Hall of Fame.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn "Bunny Martin" and David Kurtzman of Alamo, Calif.; a daughter-in-law, Judy A. Stewart of Norfolk; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chancey of Dannebrog and Wayne "Joe" of Grand Island; and a sister, Marge Flynn of South Pasadena, Calif.
Other than his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Dale C. and Jerry W. Stewart.
Vee Clayton
AUSTIN, Texas -- Vee L. Clayton, 83, of Austin, Texas died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, after a brief illness.
All Faiths Funeral Service-North in Austin, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Clayton was born Aug. 4, 1918. She attended the University of Nebraska's School of Music and Oberlin Conservation. She studied piano, voice and organ. For many years, she was an organist for the First United Methodist Church in Grand Island.
She was married
to William G. Clayton for 58 years. Her husband died in January 1998. She lived in Indianapolis for 37 years, where she was an accompanist for the Columbians, a men's choral. Prior to living in Indianapolis, she lived in Grand Island. She moved to Austin because of an illness.
The couple enjoyed making movies and taking photos of their travels. She enjoyed telling stories and chronicled the couple's experiences. In 1999, she wrote a book about her life titled, "I Do Believe It's the Claytons. Reflections of a Charmed Life."
Survivors include three children, Nancy Bene, Courtney Klemstein and Todd Clayton, all of Central Texas.
Anna Loskill
Anna Loskill, 100, of Grand Island, formerly of Hastings, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Frank Hoelck will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery in Hastings with a committal service at 1:30 p.m.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with a scripture rosary service at 7 p.m.
Curran Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the church or Central Catholic High School.
Mrs. Loskill was born Sept. 29, 1901, in Overton to Nicholas and Susan (Mangers) Goedert. She lived on the family farm near Roseland. She attended Assumption Elementary School in Assumption.
She married
Theodore C. Loskill on Oct. 19, 1920, in Assumption. They farmed near Holstein, retiring in 1966. They moved to Hastings after retiring. Her husband died Aug. 1, 1975. She moved to Grand Island in 1990 to live with her daughter.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering and her family.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Lucile S. Koch of Grand Island and Darlene and Joe Tocchio of Drayton, N.D.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Harold Loskill; and a brother, Nicholas Goedert Jr.
