Dale E. Sullivan
PALMER -- Dale E. Sullivan, 71, of Palmer died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at the Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. Burial will be in the Fullerton cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Mr. Sullivan was born Jan. 21, 1930, at Merrick County to H. Wyndham and Mildred (Morrison) Sullivan. He grew up in Merrick County and attended School District No. 51. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954 then returned to Merrick County, where he began to farm.
He married
Barbara Good on May 6, 1956, in Fullerton and farmed in Nance and Merrick County until the mid-1980s. He then worked for Grigsby Trucking and was currently employed at Aurora Co-op.
He was a member of Fullerton American Legion and Eagles Club. He enjoyed raising and working with quarter horses.
Survivors include two sons, Donald of Fullerton and Dennis of Polk, Iowa; two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and Rod Wetovick of Fullerton and Jody and R. Scott Gleason of Kildeer, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert and Harold, both of Palmer.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
Richard R. Meyers
ELKHART, Ind. -- Richard R. Meyers, 66, of Elkhart, Ind., died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at Elk-hart General Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Solt Funeral Home Chapel in Central City. The Rev. Joy Savage will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Meyers was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Omaha to Edward and Mary (Rodewald) Meyers. He attended school in Lincoln and entered the U.S. Army on March 11, 1955. He served in the Korean.
Dorothy Jordan
Dorothy A. Jordan, 78, of Grand Island died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Jose Chavez will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. parish rosary, Wednesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jordan was born on Feb. 7, 1922, at Cozad to Benjamin and Nettie L. (Spain) Ganow. She attended various schools throughout Nebraska, including schools at Valentine and Grand Island. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1940.
She married
Bernard F. Jordan on Jan. 22, 1944, at St. Mary's Cathedral.
She attended Central Community College in Hastings and earned her degree as a dental assistant. She worked for Dr. Ben Sommer and later for Dr. D.L. Herzog. She retired in 1985 after 22 years with Dr. Herzog.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral parish and the altar society.
Survivors include four sons, Tom of Grand Island, Tim of Moab, Utah, Sam of Lincoln and Patrick of West Virginia; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lola Engle of Exeter.
Her husband died in 1972. She also was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.
Henry Aldana
ALDA -- Burial of the cremains of Henry N. Aldana Jr., 50, of Alda will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
The Rev. Don Larmore will officiate.
Mr. Aldana died on Dec. 14, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center Skilled Care Unit.
His body was donated to the University of Kansas Anatomical Board.
A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lillian Pesek
ORD -- Lillian Ruth Pesek, 88, of Ord died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at the Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Michael Laing will officiate. Burial will be in the National cemetery northeast of Comstock.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
Memorials are suggested to Western Fraternal Life Association Lodge 112 or the Ord Rescue Unit.
Mrs. Pesek was born on Feb. 7, 1912, in Corner Township of Custer County to Frank and Mary (Palan) Ruzicka. She completed her education at Snowball District 47 School, northeast of Sargent.
She married
Frank George Pesek on Sept. 28, 1932, at Burwell. They farmed northeast of Comstock for 34 years before moving to Ord in March 1966. She began working at the Ord Vets Club in February 1968 and retired in October 1973. She came out of retirement and worked at the Vets Club from October 1975 to March 1981.
She was a 65-year member of the ZCBJ Lodge, Slavin 112, and attended meetings regularly until her death. She also was a member of the No Low Pinochle Club. She enjoyed bingo and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Jean (Mrs. Lumir) Hulinsky of Lincoln; two brothers, Edward Ruzicka of St. Paul and Emil Ruzicka of Grand Island; and two sisters, Rosie Buckbee of Ord and Emily Cooper of Sargent.
Her husband died on April 25, 1984. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Joe.
Berenice Belford
IRVINE, Calif. -- Berenice Beckman Belford, 98, of Irvine, Calif., died Aug. 7, 2000, at the Windcrest Convalescent Home in Irvine.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Belford was born on Aug. 1, 1902, to Alfred and Hannal Beckman.
She married
Leslie Belford on June 2, 1932, at Hastings. The couple lived in Grand Island. They moved to California in 1977. Mr. Belford died in 1980, and Mrs. Belford continued to live in California.
While living in Grand Island, she was a worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, charter member and president of Chapter EZ, PE Sisterhood, and an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
She was also a member of a sewing club and enjoyed gardening and baking.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters.
Robert Hinman
LAS VEGAS -- Robert E. Hinman, 88, of Las Vegas, formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, Nev.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Grand Island City Cemetery. The Rev. Patrick Grindol will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Hinman was born on June 27, 1912, in Loup City to Harry and Zula (Lundy) Hinman. Mr. Hinman was educated in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island High School in 1930.
He married
Marie Stahlnecker on Oct. 22, 1945, in Smith Center, Kan.
Mr. Hinman worked as a meat cutter for 45 years in Grand Island, Omaha, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Las Vegas.
Me was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing golf.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Eagles Club.
Survivors include his wife; and two brothers, Jack of Boulder, Colo., and Allen of Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.
