Ruth Petersen
CEDAR RAPIDS -- Ruth E. (Dobson) Petersen, 87, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at the Friendship Villa Nursing Home in Spalding.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Timothy Wagner will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset cemetery at Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
Mrs. Petersen was born to Earl and Lena (Tate) Watts on Dec. 22, 1914, at Albion. She grew up in the Primrose area, receiving her education at the Primrose School and through the 10th grade at Primrose High School.
She married
George Dobson on April 6, 1935. They moved to Powers, Ore., and later to John Day, Ore., where she worked in the timber camps. She later was the owner and operator of a cafe. Mr. Dobson died while living in Oregon.
She married
Wilfred "Silk" Petersen in Reno, Nev., on May 31, 1965. They returned to Nebraska, where they lived on a Greeley County farm in the Cedar Rapids and Primrose area.
They attended St. John's Lutheran Church. Mrs. Petersen was a lifelong member of the Lutheran faith, a lifetime member of the Women of the Moose, and an avid bowler.
Because of failing health, the Petersens entered the Friendship Villa Nursing Home in Spalding.
Survivors include her husband, Wilfred of Friendship Villa Nursing Home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet Sworab of Ramsey, Mich., and Judy Gibbs Thomas and Bill of John Day, Ore.; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Nancy Dobson of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma Fraka of Republic, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her first husband; five brothers, Warner, Lyle, Harold, Frank and Leonard; and a sister, Neva Mackey.
Tomas Gaspar-Zacarias
Tomas Gaspar-Zacarias, 31, of Grand Island died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, of injuries from an automobile accident.

Madeline Luebs, 89, a resident of Park Place Care Center in Grand Island died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Park Place.

Jean Quandt, 68, of rural Grand Island died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at her home.

Steven Boyd
HASTINGS -- Steven Boyd, 31, of Hastings died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hastings. The Revs. Michael Houlihan and David Bourek will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery in Hastings.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings. Visitation will continue at the church from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., with a 7:30 rosary, Monday at the church and one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Steve Boyd Memorial Fund for Easton Boyd at City National Bank in Hastings.
Dorothy Brown
BROKEN BOW -- Dorothy A. Brown, 81, of Broken Bow died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Larry Jaynes will officiate. Burial will be in Janesville cemetery near Berwyn.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Brown was born Sept. 14, 1920, in the Janesville Community in Custer County to Richard and Florence (Eddy) Dinwiddie. She attended school at Janesville and Berwyn High School.
She married
Ray Brown on Nov. 6, 1938, in North Platte. The couple lived in Broken Bow.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sunny Wilcox of Omaha and Sabra Hughes of Milford; a son, D. Ray Brown of Beatrice; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bob Dinwiddie of Mary Esther, Fla.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers and a grandchild.
Anna Crisco
LOUP CITY -- Anna E. Crisco, 64, of Loup City died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at her home.
Services are pending at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City.

Allan Waltman
ASHTON -- Gerald Allan Waltman, 31, of Ashton, formerly of Broken Bow, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, near Loup City due to a car accident.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Todd Philipsen will officiate.
Additional services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City. The Rev. Reginald A. Urban will officiate. Burial will be in Posen cemetery in Farwell.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City and will continue from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City with a 7 p.m. rosary.
Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City and Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow are in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family for a memorial park bench.
Mr. Waltman was born Sept. 23, 1970, at Grand Island to Gerald H. and Betty (Ferguson) Waltman. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1988. He was involved in 4-H and FFA, top judge of livestock and chosen for several tours in 15 states. He won the All Around 4-H award and was the Custer County 4-H King in 1987-88. He showed the Grand Champion Gilt at the Nebraska State Fair in 1986. He also served as an altar boy at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Broken Bow.
He farmed near Ashton and was a heavy equipment operator for Lammers Land Leveling in Pleasanton.
He liked livestock, art, music, welding, mechanic work and cooking.
Survivors include his fiancé, Andrea Jerabek of Farwell; his mother, Betty Bicking of Broken Bow; his father, Gerald Waltman of Loup City; a brother, John Waltman of Broken Bow; three stepbrothers and their wives, Jerry and Debbie Bicking of Fremont, Terry and Kris Bicking of Omaha and Gary and Stephanie Bicking of Oakland; a stepsister, Cheri Tingler of Omaha; and a grandmother, Theresa Waltman of Loup City.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bob Bicking, and grandparents, Don Waltman and Elmer and Goldie Ferguson.
Austyn Wysocki
Infant
KEARNEY -- Austyn Rae Wysocki, infant daughter of Stacy Wysocki of Kearney, died shortly after birth Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic cemetery near Farwell with the Rev. Michael McDermott officiating.
Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Survivors include her mother of Kearney and her grandparents, Joan Wysocki of Farwell and Craig and Mary Howard of Odessa.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Gaylen Wysocki.
