Clara Allan
WOOD RIVER -- Clara E. Allan, 89, of Wood River died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at the Western Hall County Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Cairo United Methodist Church in Cairo. The Rev. David Masten will officiate. Burial will be at the Cameron cemetery south of Cairo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Cairo.
Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Mrs. Allan was born July 31, 1912, at Seneca to Niels and Emma (Olson) Nielsen. She attended Litchfield Schools. After her schooling she spent time caring for elderly people. She also worked at the Cornhusker Ordnance Plant.
She married
Lue James Allan on June 1, 1944. The couple lived north of Wood River until 1975 when they moved to Cairo.
She was a member of the Cairo United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking and making quilts.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Lue Jr. and Margaret Allan of Grand Island and John and Connie Allan of Kearney; one daughter and son-in-law, Merna and Paul Wold of Dannebrog; one sister, Ollie Hanson of Scotia; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lillian Kramer, Dorothy Feldman and Anna Olmstead; and two brothers, Harold and Orville Nielsen.
Lyle Dilsaver
76, Farmer
TAYLOR -- Lyle Dilsaver, 76, of Taylor died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at Jennie M. Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Rhoad Funeral Home chapel in Sargent. Fred Cram will officiate. Burial will be in Madison Square cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Dilsaver was born May 10, 1925, on his parents' homestead in Loup County to Frank M. and Ruby A. (Moser) Dilsaver. He grew up on the family homestead and attended Madison Square Grade School. He graduated from Loup County High School in 1942.
After graduating he moved to Torrington, Wyo., where he worked as a farm hand until entering the U.S. Navy in 1944. He served as a gunner on a torpedo boat in the South Pacific. After being discharged in 1946, he returned to Loup County and farmed on the homestead with his father.
He married
Ione A. Hoins on Jan. 16, 1948, in Ord. The couple lived and farmed in Madison Square.
He was a lifetime member of Benhart-Klapal American Legion Post 104 and Clements VFW Post 6159, served as Loup County Commissioner and on the Madison Square School Board in Taylor. In August 2001, he received the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Family Award. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Dilsaver of Taylor; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Vickie of Bog Springs and Duane and Linda of Reno, Nev.; a foster son, Jim Hoobler of Spring Valley, Calif.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ivan and Edith of Wichita, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Douglas.
Agnes Henningsen
GREELEY -- Agnes A. Henningsen, 88, of Greeley, formerly of St. Paul and Wolbach, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at the Greeley Care Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Marsha Jark-Swain will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery in Wolbach.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach or the Greeley Care Home.
Mrs. Henningsen was born Feb. 9, 1914, at Chalco to Frederick and Emma (Brockman) Suhl. She was raised and attended grade school in Chalco. She graduated from school in Gretna in 1932.
She married
Henry Henningsen on Aug. 7, 1938, in Millard. They lived in Yutan, where they operated a cafe and bar for five years. They then moved to Omaha, where she did domestic work and then worked for Merchant Biscuit Co. They moved in 1948 to Wolbach, where they owned a bar. They sold the bar in 1961 and moved to Republican City, where they operated Hank and Aggie's Cabins. They retired in the early 1980s and moved to Wolbach.
They moved to Parkside Plaza in St. Paul in October 1989. Her husband died on Dec. 13, 1993. Mrs. Henningsen lived in St. Paul until June 15, 2001, when she moved to the Greeley Assisted Living Facility.
She enjoyed children.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Henningsen was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Claus and Arlie Suhl; and three sisters, Alice Peetz, Katherine Sievers and Clara Iverson.
Winifred Humphrey
BROKEN BOW -- Winifred Humphrey, 80, of Broken Bow died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Mortuary chapel in Broken Bow. Gene Goben will officiate. Burial will be in Cliff cemetery west of Merna.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Clover Jones
CENTRAL CITY -- Clover Jones, 81, of Central City died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at the Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Hordville. The Rev. Ralph Supernaw will officiate. Burial will be in the Lindale Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Hordville.
Mrs. Jones was born April 1, 1920, at Marquette to J. Glenn and Margaret (Wilson) Fowler. She attended and graduated from Marquette Public School.
She married
Wilbur "Bill" Jones on Feb. 18, 1939, at Marquette. She taught country school in Hordville, where they farmed until 1954. After moving to Central City, she was a sales lady for Minnesota Woolens, the Spence Shoppe and Nordstedts before establishing a boutique in her home called Clover's Closet. Later she assisted her husband with DHIA dairy testing.
Upon retirement in 1984 they moved to Sunset Manor and in 1996 became residents of Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care.
She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, the Central City Chamber of Commerce, Women's Missionary Society and the First Baptist Church in Hordville. She enjoyed flower gardening, baking, quilting, craft making and care giving.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bruce Jensen of Arvada, Colo; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sharon Jones and Gerald and Linda Jones of Central City; one brother, Merlyn Fowler of Hordville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Melvin and Milburn (Gene) Fowler.
'Fred' Schatz
ST. PAUL -- Frederick W. "Fred" Schatz, 60, of St. Paul died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Gary Karoly will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in St. Paul with military rites provided by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul.
There will be no visitation. His body was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Schatz was born June 10, 1941, at Detroit to Frederick and Louise (Ailward) Schatz. He grew up and was educated in Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1959 to October 1959. He moved to Nebraska in 1966.
He married
Phyllis E. Anglemyer on Aug. 8, 1967, in O'Neill. He worked at a variety of jobs throughout his life. He was a truck driver, worked at Hastings Pork and was a taxi driver in Grand Island.
He enjoyed collecting stamps, football and baseball cards, making sinkers and fishing lures and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Marlin Enquist, and Frieda and Marvin Schatz, all of St. Paul, Bobbi and Darrell Ives of Inland and Gwen and Matt Smith of Loup City; a son, Frederick "Freddie" Schatz Jr. of Ravenna; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Connor Metz, two brothers, Wally and Howard Schatz, and a sister, Beverly Laube.
