Irl Tolen
BROKEN BOW -- Irl C. Tolen, 84, of Broken Bow, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Genoa Community Hospital LTC in Genoa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Kathleen LaRocque will officiate. Burial will be in Ansley cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to the church or donor's choice.
Gladys Glantz
COSTA MESA, Calif. -- Gladys M. Glantz, 88, of Costa Mesa, Calif., formerly of Central City, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Central City Cemetery. Ellen Campbell will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to The Friends Meeting House or The American Legion.
Solt Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of arrangements.
'Blanche' Pierce
LOVELAND, Colo. -- Sara "Blanche" Pierce, 90, of Loveland, Colo., formerly of Hastings, died Dec. 7, 2001, at Loveland.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings. The Rev. Jim Miller will officiate. Burial will be private to the family.
Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings and United Methodist Church in Ericson.
Mrs. Pierce was born Dec. 12, 1910, at Cairo to Otis and Ethel (Peters) Burry. At 15, she graduated from Shelton High School in 1926. She attended college at Kearney Normal School that summer and began teaching in a rural school near Ravenna prior to her 16th birthday. Her parents relocated to Ericson and she taught there.
She married
Frank W. Pierce of Ericson on Dec. 27, 1938, in Gering. Her husband died in 1991. She retired from teaching to raise a family. They lived in Denver, Cairo and Ericson.
She began teaching again in 1955 in Ericson. She also taught in Bartlett and at rural Garfield County School until 1967. She served as Wheeler County Superintendent of Schools and as a member of Ericson Rural High School Board of Education. She taught for more than 30 years. She also assisted her husband who managed the Pierce Drug Store. In 1967, they moved to Sargent where they managed a jewelry and drug sundry store. She attended Cliff Mann Floral School in Denver and then worked at a floral shop in Sargent. She served on the Sargent Nursing Home Board of Directors and was a member of Sargent chapter of PEO. They managed the Hamilton Motor Inn in Aurora and then the Erin Rancho Motel in Grand Island before retiring to Hastings in 1978.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings. In Ericson, she taught Sunday School, led the junior and senior choirs, Methodist Youth Fellowship, served as Sunday School Superintendent and was a member of Women's Society of Christian Service. In Sargent, she was a member of Methodist Church Miriam Circle. She lived in Haven Home in Kenesaw from 1993 to 2001, when she moved to Sierra Vista Care Center in Loveland.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Muriel and Don Nelson of Chandler, Ariz., Lorrie and Dr. G. Lynn Nelson of Tempe, Ariz., and Linda and Bob Boysen of Loveland, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandchild; an infant brother, and a sister, Berniece Allen.
Marvin Rader
BELLA VISTA, Ark. -- Marvin J. Rader, 79, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Ark.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista. The Rev. Joseph J. Enderlin will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory in Bella Vista, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
A memorial service will be at a later date in Grand Island.

James Wood
FULDA, Minn. -- James M. Wood, 85, of Fulda, Minn., died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at his daughter's home.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Dec. 20 at First Baptist Church in Kearney.
Mr. Wood was born June 9, 1916, to Olin and Camilla (Bangs) Wood. He attended Haigler High School. He later attended Denver Bible Institute in Denver and Sterling College in Sterling, Kan. He attended Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Kan.
He married
Doris Puckett on Aug. 31, 1948, in Lincoln. He served as pastor in Chillicothe, Mo., and Flagler, Colo. The couple moved to Tura, Meghalaya, India, and then to Jorhat, Assam, India, where he and his wife served as missionaries for the American Baptist Church. When they returned to the U.S., they lived in Alliance, Kearney and Grand Island. In 1981, he retired but continued doing interim pastorate work. In March 2001, they moved to Fulda, Minn., where they lived at Maple View Estates until November 2001, when they moved to their daughter's home in rural Fulda.
He was a member of American Baptist Church. He was active on the board of the Center for Rural Affairs in Nebraska. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Wood of Denver and Linda and Bryan Lund of Fulda; two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Morna Wood of Chennal, India, and Bill and Pat Wood of Kearney; nine grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Alice Shaftstall of LaJunta, Colo., and Mary and Delmar Stevens of Lincoln; a brother-in-law, Arsenio Lewis of Lincoln; and two sisters-in-law, Donna Wood of California and Jewel Wood of Canon City, Colo.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and John Wood, and a sister, Ruth Lewis.
'Ronnie' Foster
ERICSON -- Ronald "Ronnie" Foster, 51, of Ericson died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Services are pending with Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Paul Glynn
PALMER -- Paul W. Glynn, 66, of Palmer died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at IHS Nursing Home in Palmer.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer. The Rev. Robert Schilling will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Palmer with military rites by American Legion Post 120.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Palmer.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice or to the family.
Mr. Glynn was born on July 30, 1933, at Palmer to Osvil and Grace (Weber) Glynn. He attended District 31 School and graduated from Palmer High School in 1951. He then worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. After his discharge, he returned to the Palmer area and started farming.
He married
Gloria Helzer on June 25, 1961, at Palmer. They continued to live on a farm northeast of Palmer. He retired in January 1999.
His main interests were farming and taking care of his cattle.
Mr. Glynn had served on the Palmer school board and was president for one term. He was a township officer and was a member of Palmer American Legion Post 120, which he served as post commander.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, John of Lincoln and Patrick and Russell, both of Palmer; eight grandchildren; his mother, of Palmer; three brothers, Ray of Central City, Jim of Indianapolis and Joe of Sandy Hook, Conn.; and three sisters, Lila (Mrs. Cleon) Schwarz of Palmer, Lorene Glynn of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Karen (Mrs. Larry) Lunn of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his father and an infant sister.
Grace Jensen
HAMPTON -- Grace P. Jensen, 82, of Hampton died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church in Aurora. The Rev. Jay Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
Mrs. Jensen was born on July 9, 1917, in Tulare, Calif., to David A. and Millie M. (Eagle) Price. She grew up in California. She graduated from beauty school and worked as a beautician in California.
She married
C. Denzil Jensen on Nov. 3, 1940, in Las Vegas. They lived in California until 1942. They moved back to the family farm north of Hampton, where they lived until retiring in 1974 and moving into Hampton. Mr. Jensen died on Jan. 30, 1997.
Mrs. Jensen enjoyed gardening and especially loved roses. She was a member of the First Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Survivors include her son, Garry of Hampton; two daughters, Darlene (Mrs. Allen) Klute of Hampton and Dianna Hinkle of Lincoln; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, David Price and Bob Price, both of California.
Kathleen Langan
CEDAR RAPIDS -- Kathleen V. Langan, 88, of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Ralph Steffensmeier will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., with a 3 p.m. rosary, Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will resume at 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
