Faye Larkowski
RAVENNA -- Faye Larkowski, 86, of Ravenna died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland Park cemetery in Ravenna. The Rev. Mark Cadenbach will officiate. Those attending are asked to gather at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna prior to service time.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.
Mrs. Larkowski was born April 20, 1915, in Sweetwater to William and Mary Ann (Pickett) Roberts. She attended Newburg school and graduated from Ravenna High School. Following graduation, she was a teacher at Newburg school.
She married
Stanley Larkowski on May 22, 1933, in a double ceremony with Carl and Evelyn Stark. The couple lived in Ravenna. She worked in the Cozy, Palace and Corner Bars. Her husband died Oct. 4, 1985.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and four sisters.
Ida Spencer
94, School teacher and Bookkeeper
BROKEN BOW -- Ida M. Spencer, 94, of Broken Bow died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Broken Bow. The Rev. Barbara Petersen will officiate. Burial will be in Broken Bow Cemetery. Her body was cremated.
Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Broken Bow Public Library and to the church.
Mrs. Spencer was born April 10, 1907, in Ord to William and Ella (Clement) Worm. She grew up in Ord, where she attended school, graduating from Ord High School. She also attended Kearney State Teachers College for two years. In 1931, she moved to Broken Bow.
She married
Lowell A. Spencer on June 1, 1932, in Merna. She taught school and was also a bookkeeper for many years. She worked at Christman Hardware, Dr. Blair's office, Production Credit Association and Coop Marketing Association. She retired in 1981. Her husband died in 1981. She continued to live in her home until moving to Independence Hall in Broken Bow where she lived for three years. She then became a resident at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Broken Bow, Episcopal Church Women, Senators Extension Club, Jennie Melham Hospital Auxiliary, Broken Bow Does and also did volunteer work. She enjoyed reading and cooking.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard W. and Carol Spencer of Broken Bow, Dr. Lowell and Clara Spencer of Phoenix and Dr. Berl and Barbara Spencer of Ogallala; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Worm and Clifford Vorm of Portland, Ore.; and a sister, Irene Ingraham of Burwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Forrest and Guy Worm, and two sisters, Margaret Spencer and Marie Swindell.
David Wrzenski
75, Farmer
GREELEY -- David J. Wrzenski, 75, of Greeley died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Rev. Gerald Carlson will officiate. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery in Elba.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a 6:30 p.m. vigil service.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Peters Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wrzenski was born on March 20, 1926, on a farm north of Elba to Stanley and Nellie (Zielinski) Wrzenski. He attended Elba Public School.
The family later moved to a farm south of Greeley, where he attended District 24 School. After completing his education, he began farming.
He farmed the rest of his life and also worked for several years at an Omaha meatpacking plant, as a truck driver for Knight Brothers Construction and for his brother, Lavern Wrzenski.
He enjoyed going for drives around the countryside.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include two brothers and a sister-in-law, Raymond and Geraldine of St. Paul and Lavern of Wolbach.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clifford.
Kim Beiriger
INLAND -- Kim R. (Christensen) Beiriger, 42, of Inland, formerly of Central City, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2001 as the result of a car accident.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Methodist Church near Central City. The Rev. Rich Savage will officiate. Burial will be in Burke cemetery in Central City.
Visitation will be from noon until services Thursday at the church.
Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton is in charge of arrangements.
John Crittenden
41, Carpenter
LINCOLN -- John Crittenden, 41, of Lincoln died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, in Lincoln.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen's Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Time Anderson will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Don Hanway will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to Sandra Crittenden, in care of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Grand Island, in order to support his surviving children.
Mr. Crittenden was born Jan. 7, 1960, in Kansas City, Mo., to Harry T. and Betty Lou (McCoy) Crittenden. The family moved to Grand Island, where he graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1978.
He married
Jacqueline Prince in 1980 in Grand Island. He later married
Sandra Marsh in 1986 in Denver.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. He was a carpenter by trade. He also enjoyed cooking, golfing, fishing, gardening and playing baseball.
Survivors include a son, Jordan; a daughter, Brittany; his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Craig Frederick of Page, Ariz.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jacob and Elisabeth of Pittsburgh, and Paul and Jane of Lincoln; and a special friend, Beth Beigert.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Brian, and a daughter, Mikayla.
Don Etherton
71, Longtime Chief Industries manager
JOHNSON LAKE -- Donald "Don" E. Etherton, 71, of Johnson Lake, formerly of Grand Island, died Dec. 30, 2001, in San Diego.
Services will be in Grand Island at a later date. His body was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to United Congregational Church in Grand Island, Johnson Lake EMS or the donor's choice.
Mr. Etherton was born April 20, 1930, in Grand Island to James C. and Goldie (Martin) Etherton. He attended Grand Island schools and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1951. He then worked for Silas Mason Company.
He married
Bonnie Hueneke on Dec. 30, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. In 1956, they moved to the San Diego area. He worked for Rohr Industries, attaining the position of industrial engineer. The couple returned to Grand Island in 1972. He was instrumental in establishing Chief E-Z-Liner (Chief Automotive) and was the first production manager for the facility. Later, he transferred to Chief's corporate offices, where he was director of purchasing. He retired from Chief Industries, Inc., on June 30, 2000, after 28 years of service.
Mr. Etherton died on his 50th wedding anniversary.
He was a member of Ashlar Lodge 55, American Legion of St. Paul, United Congregational Church and Platt-Duetsche.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce and Kim Etherton of San Diego and Craig Etherton of Ft. Collins, Colo.; three grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Shick of Omaha; and a brother, Gary Etherton of Grand Island.
