Lucille Marth
BROKEN BOW -- Lucille C. Marth, 80, of Broken Bow died Saturday, June 19, 1999.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. The Rev. Cliff Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Survivors include two sons, Allen of North Platte and Gerald of Broken Bow; one daughter, Cheryl (Mrs. Bill) Simonson of Lexington; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roland Bivens of Roseburg, Ore.
Charles Rodenbaugh
DANNEBROG -- Charles D. Rodenbaugh, 71, of Oak Street Manor in Dannebrog died Friday, June 18, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Kleine Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Gloria Schlachter
HANSEN -- Gloria A. Schlachter, 71, of Hansen died Friday, June 18, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hastings. The Rev. Harold Stromer will officiate. A private family burial will be at Parkview cemetery in Hastings.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings.
Memorials are suggested to the First St. Paul Lutheran Kitchen Fund.
Mrs. Schlachter was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Surprise to Forest and Daisy (Brogan) Smith. She grew up in the Surprise and David City areas. She moved from David City to Hastings in 1943.
She married
Harlan Schlachter in 1946 in Hastings. She began working for the Dutton-Lainson Co. and in later years as the deputy register of deeds in Adams County.
She was a member of the Adams County Extension Club and the Hastings High School Alumni Association and the Elks Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Bill and Mike, both of Grand Island and Roger of Atoka, Tenn.; one daughter, Vickie (Mrs. Preston) Hesselgesser of Highland Village, Texas; two sisters, Pat (Mrs. Roger) Grannis of Cameron Park, Calif., and Yvonne Loy of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother Gail.
Wayne Jackson
BELLEVUE -- Wayne Summerfield Jackson, 77, of Bellevue, formerly of Dannebrog, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at Bellevue.
Services were June 9 at the Bellevue Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the restoration fund for Columbia Hall in Dannebrog.
Mr. Jackson was born July 12, 1921, at Dannebrog.
He was a retired United States postal worker and mini van bus driver for Bellevue senior citizens.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria (Mrs. David) Gleason of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Glenrose (Mrs. Robert) Meier of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two sons, William of Omaha and Thomas of Papillion; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Virgil of Parachute, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, and a brother, Ronald.
Sidney Allison
Sidney Allison, 93, of Grand Island, formerly of Scotia, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at St. Franics Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are pending with Ord Memorial Chapel.
Kathleen Branson-Powers
Kathleen Branson-Powers, 55, of Grand Island died Sunday, April 14, 2002, as the result of a traffic accident near Syracuse.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral Church. The Rev. Jose Chavez will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with an 8 p.m. rosary.
Mrs. Branson-Powers was born Feb. 26, 1947, at Berkley, Calif., to Robert and Mary Jean (Thompson) Branson. She moved to Grand Island when she was young and attended St. Mary's School for two years before moving to Colorado Springs. She completed her elementary education at Corpus Christi Elementary School and graduated from Security High School in Colorado Springs in 1965. She attended Alamosa State College for two years. She was an accomplished vocalist. She came to Grand Island in 1988.
She married
Allan Powers on Oct. 18, 1991, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. She worked for Fonner Park and several other race tracks.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral Church. She enjoyed music and horses.
Survivors include her husband and two sisters, Barbara Arnold of Arvada, Colo., and Agnes Jarvis of Littleton, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marsha Moreno-Montano
Marsha Moreno-Montano, 51, of Grand Island died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jim Keyser will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Moreno-Montano was born February 23, 1951, to Edmund J. and Lupe (Dominguez) Madagame at North Platte. She grew up and was education at North Platte.
She married
Pete T. Moreno in the late 1960s in North Platte. Mr. Moreno died and she continued to live in North Platte.
She married
Francisco Montano on June 6, 1998, in El Dorado, Kan. The couple lived in North Platte and later Grand Island.
She enjoyed spending time with family and cooking.
Survivors include her husband; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Dominic and Nikki Moreno of North Platte and Victor Moreno and Jeremy Arriola, both of Grand Island; a daughter, Maranda Moreno of Lincoln; five grandchildren; her mother of Lincoln; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, David and Michelle Dominguez of Las Vegas, Michael and Jan Vieyra of Elm Creek, Valentino and Claudia Madagame of Cozad, Timothy Madagame of Sturgis, S.D., and Mark and Keona Madagame of Las Vegas; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and David Sandoval of Las Cruces, N.M., and Rita and Mark Hernandez, and Nita Madagame, all of North Platte.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, a sister, Rosa L. Madagame and her father.
Berniece Brandes
CENTRAL CITY -- Berniece M. Brandes, 87, of Central City died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Fairview United Methodist Church near Central City. The Rev. Rich Savage will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Fairview United Methodist Church or donor's choice.
Mrs. Brandes was born March 21, 1915, in Merrick County to Albert and Martha (Wegner) Suck in Merrick County. She grew up in Merrick County.
She married
Harold M. Brandes on Sept. 17, 1939, at EUB Archer Zion near Archer. She worked for Hudgens Dime Store while in Central City. A few years later, the couple moved to a farm north of Central City.
She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Friendship Club and United Methodist Women. She was also a 50-year member of a Pinochle Club. She spending time with family and friends, the outdoors, cooking, traveling and watching birds.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Cheryl Brandes Rose of Indianola, Iowa; three grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Darlene Suck of Palmer.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Greenwood, and four sisters, Esther Goerl, Mildred Rawlings, Dorothy Conway and Elberta Chestnut.
