Mary Dubas
FULLERTON -- Mary A. Dubas, 89, of Fullerton, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Litzenberg Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton. Burial will be at the church cemetery at Fullerton. The Rev. Don Cleary will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. Scripture service and rosary all at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Marilyn Krolikowski
ORD -- Marilyn Fay Krolikowski, 55, of Ord died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center at Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ord. The Rev. Bob Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel.
Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Cheryl Nelson
KEARNEY -- Cheryl A. Nelson, 38, of Kearney died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Kearney. The Revs. Ron Roemmich and Ron Harris will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the church or her childrens' education fund.
O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Nelson was born March 4, 1962, to Mike and LeeAnn (Hannon) Schafer at Scottsbluff. She grew up in Grand Island and Kearney. She graduated from Kearney High School in 1980 and attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
She married
Robert Nelson on June 4, 1983, at Kearney. She was employed at EconoFoods in Kearney, but due to multiple sclerosis she was later confined to her home.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Kearney and had belonged to Brownie and Girl Scout troops in Grand Island and Kearney.
Survivors include her husband and her parents; a son, Justin, and a daughter, Destinee, at home and a sister, Tammy Nelson of Palm Bay, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Dorothy Baker
WILLS POINT, Texas -- Dorothy A. Baker, 76, of Wills Point, Texas, formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Mesquite, Texas, after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eubank Chapel in Canton, Texas. The Revs. Chuck Schorlemmer and Newell Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Haven of Memories Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baker was born on March 2, 1924, at Grand Island to Henry C. and Ruby M. Schoel. She grew up in Grand Island.
She married
O'Day Baker in 1945. She moved to Texas in 1972 and to Wills Point in 1986.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Wills Point.
Survivors include one son, Bobby O. of Wills Point, Texas; two daughters, Linda Sue (Mrs. Everet) Fox of Bedias, Texas, and Charline Lareau of San Benito, Texas; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchilden; her mother, Ruby Loop of Grand Island; one brother, Ercel Schoel of Afton, Okla; and two sisters, Marceline Frost and Monadine Dubas, both of Grand Island.
Her husband died in 1990. She also was preceded in death by her father and a brother, George Schoel.
Goldie May Bluss
NORTH PLATTE -- Goldie May Bluss, 96, of North Platte died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2001, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
Inurnment will be in the Kearney Cemetery. There will be no local services and no visitation.
Adams & Swanson Funeral Home of North Platte is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bluss was born on June 2, 1905, in Kearney to John R. and Nellie May Humphrey Kirkendall. She was raised and attended school in Kearney.
She married
Harvey F. Bluss on Oct. 13, 1946, in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island until Mr. Bluss' death on May 29, 1972. She then moved to North Platte, where she lived until her death.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was a past member of the BPO Does Drove #109. She loved all kinds of crafts, enjoyed music and dancing, and loved crocheting, knitting, tatting and all kinds of sewing.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, June Kirkendall of North Platte, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Lula Crawford, Esther Moe and infant sister Beulah Kirkendall, and one brother, Clifford Kirkendall.
Raymond Nielsen
OMAHA -- Raymond A. Nielsen, 56, of Omaha died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at his home in Omaha.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Omaha. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Roeder Mortuary in Omaha.
Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or to the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Nielsen; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ryan Nielsen and Mark and Melanie Nielsen; one daughter, Carrie Nielsen; his mother, Ruth Nielsen and two sisters, Shirley Nielsen and Patricia Prochnow.
Lillie Root
ENTERPRISE, Kan. -- Lillie M. Root, 98, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at the Enterprise Estates Nursing Home in Enterprise, Kan.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Danner Funeral Home in Abilene, Kan., with the Rev. Max Froelich officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery south of Enterprise.
Memorials are suggested to the Enterprise Estates Nursing home or Enterprise Public Library.
Mrs. Root was born May 1, 1903, in Staplehurst, Neb., to Harve and Ida Bye Gannon. She grew up there and attended the local school.
She married
Harry Root on Dec. 7, 1922. They farmed in Nebraska during the early years of their marriage and moved to Kansas in 1928. Most of their married
life was spent in Enterprise. Mr. Root died in 1960.
Mrs. Root was a member of the Enterprise United Metho-dist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Lurye Emig of Manhattan, Kan., and Opal Whitehair of Abilene, Kan.; a son, Norman Root of Manhattan; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren;
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Keith, in 1999.
Albert Weber
HERINGTON, Kan. -- Albert (Sam) Weber, 96, of Herington, Kan., died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Herington, Kan.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (Shadybrook) in rural Herington.
The Rev. Eugene Bicks and the Rev. Alan Stahlecker will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery in Herington.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Brockmeier Funeral Chapel in Herington. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to the Herington Municipal Hospital.
Mr. Weber was born on Dec. 30, 1904, in Herington, Kan., to Albert and Minnie Gottschalk Weber.
He married
Ruth Evelyn Cochenour on Nov. 5, 1955, in Herington. Mrs. Weber died on April 29, 1999.
He was with the Flint Hills Livestock Commission Company for over 44 years at the Union Stock Yards in Wichita, Kan.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church (Shadybrook) in rural Herington.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Earl Weber of Grand Island; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and one sister, Lorna Lueker of Herington.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur (Jack) and Otto (Pete) Weber and two sisters, Elsie Pufahl and Dora Schmid.
