Juanita Roman
Juanita Roman, 86, of Grand Island, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at the Beverly Healthcare at Lakeview.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev. Yolanda Arcio will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.
Mrs. Roman was born on April 25, 1915, at Cotulla, Texas.
She married
Rufino Roman on March 6, 1932, in Karnes City, Texas. They lived in Chicago and later moved to Grand Island. He died in February 1982.
She was a member of the Templo Cristo La Roca Assemblies of God. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, telling stories and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include six sons, Tony, Phillip, Greg, Rick, Robert and Frank, all of Grand Island; four daughters, Pauline Roman of Holland, Mich., Dementina Ramirez, Mary Monie and Lucy Luevano, all of Grand Island; 31 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, two sisters and one brother.
Eloise Scheffel
Eloise L. Scheffel, 83, of Grand Island, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at the St. Lukes Hospital in San Francisco, Calif.
All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Chester Babcock
ARCADIA -- Chester M. Babcock, 90, of Arcadia died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at St. Elizabeth's Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Berean Fundamental Church in Broken Bow. The Revs. Victor Crawford and Nathan Goshert will officiate. Burial will be in Arcadia Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Custer/Blaine Gideon Camp.

Mr. Babcock was born Aug. 27, 1911, at Nortonville, Kan., to Clarence R. and Martha (Jacky) Babcock. In 1923, he moved with his family to North Loup. He graduated from North Loup High School in 1929.
He married
Ruth Horton on Feb. 23, 1935, in Loup City. The couple lived in the Clear Creek community between Ansley and Arcadia where they farmed. In 1970, they moved to Arcadia and he drove a school bus for 16 years.
He was a member of Independent Bible Church and enjoyed carpentry.
Survivors include his wife of Waverly; three sons and daughters-in-law, Vern and June Babcock of Broken Bow, Gary and Carolyn Babcock of Waverly and Chester and Fern Babcock of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Gilbert Babcock of Ord, Merwin Babcock of Chico, Calif., Iradell Babcock of North Loup and Donald Babcock of Hickman; three sisters, Marguerite Scott of North Loup, Ida Babcock of Dodge Center, Minn., and Benita Severance of North Loup.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Babcock, and a sister, Lillian Barber.
Mildred Clark
ST. EDWARD -- Mildred V. Clark, 98, of St. Edward, formerly of Randolph, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward.
Services are pending with Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.
LeRoy Hackbart
HASTINGS -- LeRoy Hackbart, 50, of Hastings died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at his home.
Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Purdum Cemetery. The Rev. Linda L. Martin will officiate. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregation United Church of Christ in Halsey.
Memorials are suggested to Opportunity House in Hastings.

Mr. Hackbart was born Sept. 9, 1951, at Halsey to Richard and Caroline (Swisher) Hackbart. He graduated from Halsey-Dunning High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 27, 1977, to April 8, 1983. He moved to Hastings in 1997 from Central City and became involved with Opportunity House.
He enjoyed country music, dancing, boating, fishing, camping and riding horses.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Caroline and Chester Harden of Miller; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Ida and Marvin Serr of Kearney, Ellen and Lorne Boswell of Denver, Colo., Rita and Alan Hurt of Fremont and Linda and Terry Rickert of Wood River; a brother, Harvey Harden of Miller; a sister-in-law, Elaine Hackbart; and special friend, Jeanette Hansen of Hastings.
He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Loren Hackbart and Alan Harden.
Raymond Ivey
75, Retired Truck Driver
DANNEBROG -- Raymond D. Ivey, 75, of Dannebrog, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Barry Arndt will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakridge Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Ivey was born Jan. 27, 1926, on the family farm near Palmer to Harry and Violet Packard Ivey. The family moved to Grand Island, where he attended school.
As a young man, he drove a cab in Grand Island. At age 18, he moved to Los Angeles and began driving freight trucks.
He married
Dorothy Hilton on Aug. 3, 1946, in Los Angeles. The couple lived in Los Angeles and he drove a truck.
In 1969, the couple moved to Dannebrog and he drove a truck for several companies until his retirement in 1985.
After his wife's death on Jan. 7, 1991, he continued to live in Dannebrog until entering Beverly Healthcare Lakeview Nursing Home in Grand Island in July 2001.
He enjoyed collecting model toy trucks, cups and caps.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Shawn Lehn and Ruth and Randy Trebbe, all of Dannebrog; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randolph and Laura of Grand Island and Robert of San Bernardino, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Coleman.
Leone Krikac
COMSTOCK -- L. Leone Krikac, 96, of Comstock died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at the Beverly Health Care Center in Sargent.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Comstock. The Rev. Mark Crist will officiate. Burial will be in the Douglas Grove cemetery in Comstock.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Rhoad Funeral Home in Sargent.
Memorials are suggested at the donor's choice.
Mrs. Krikac was born Sept. 18, 1905, near Bartlett, Iowa, to Charles and Josephine (Chambers) Pierce. She attended Pleasant Valley Rural School and graduated from Thurman High School in Thurman, Iowa, in 1923. She attended college in Tabor, Iowa, for two years and then Peru State Teacher's College receiving her associate in business administration degree in 1927. She moved to Comstock and taught in high school for one year.
She married
Edward Krikac on May 18, 1928, in Taylor. She assisted her husband in publishing the Comstock News until 1981.
She enjoyed collecting barb-wire and fishing.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sharon of Comstock; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and four sisters, Daisy Steels of Stanwood, Wash., Maxine Hauptmann of Federal Way, Wash., Lilith Glinkman of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Wilma Weber of Herderson, Nev.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Sheila Moody Martin, three sisters and a brother.
