SCOTTSBLUFF -- M. Eleanor Butts, 65, of Scottsbluff, formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Beverly Health Care in Scottsbluff.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. Pastor Ed Hunzeker will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Phillips cemetery in Phillips.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or to Prairie Haven Hospice.
Mrs. Butts was born June 21, 1936, in Grand Island to Claud and A. Genevieve (Casler) Butts. She went to school in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954.
She moved to Grand Island and worked as a nurse's aide at Wedgewood, the Nebraska Veteran's Home and most recently, as a monitor technician in the intensive care unit at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, the Eagles and was an emergency medical technician.
Survivors include, her sister, Claudette Shapland of Torrington, Wyo; and four brothers, Eule Butts of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Wesley Butts of Sacramento, Calif., Robert Butts of Scottsbluff and Jimmy Butts of Colorado Springs, Colo.;
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mason Benn Jr.
65, Former Fullerton Manor administrator
BOWLING GREEN, Mo. -- Mason Cash Benn Jr., 65, of Bowling Green, Mo., formerly of Fullerton, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at the Moore Pike Nursing Home in Bowling Green.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green. Dr. Robert Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery in Frankford.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Benn was born Oct. 24, 1936, in Frankford, to Mason Cash and Kathryn Holman Benn.
He lived in Missouri most of his life. He lived in Fullerton the past 20 years before moving back to Missouri. He graduated from Frankford High School in 1954 and from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, now Truman State University, in 1958. In 1963, he received a master's degree from Colorado State College.
He taught six years in the St. Louis Public School system. He had been employed as credit manager for the Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana, administrator of Smith Barr Nursing Home in Louisiana and was the administrator of Fullerton Manor in Fullerton for 14 years.
He was formerly married
to Barbara Jean Stevens.
He was a member of the American Poultry Association, Cedar River Masonic Lodge in Fullerton, and was a national member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. He had been a member of the Frankford Christian Church and later transferred his membership to Fullerton.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Beth Gibson of Bowling Green and Barbie Sachs of Columbia; three step-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harry Benn of Frankford and Perry Benn of Michigan City, Ind.
Donald VanWey
79, Retired Air Force
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Donald L. VanWey, 79, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Evergreen Funeral Home chapel in Colorado Springs. Burial will be in the Fort Logan National cemetery in Denver.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society Research.
Mr. VanWey was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Shelton to Ervin VanWey and Mary B. (Russell) VanWey.
He married
Iola Hatcher on June 30, 1941. He married
Alice L. Nichols on Dec. 12, 1963.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 32 years. He retired as a maintenance engineer and steamfitter from the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Survivors include two daughters, Leola J. Cain of Sacramento, Calif., and Judith E. Anderson of Albin, Wyo.; one son, David A. VanWey of Sacramento, Calif.; one step-daughter, Sharon Brickley of Emporia, Kan.; one sister, Nancy Cord of Grand Island; one brother, James VanWey of Las Vegas; 12 stepchildren; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives; one son, Michael L. VanWey; three brothers; three sisters; and four great-grandchildren.
Allen Bales
Allen Bales, 75, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island.

Anne Saunders
Anne M. Saunders, 85, of Grand Island, formerly of Fremont, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora where she had lived for the past five months.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fremont Alliance Church in Fremont. The Rev. Curtis Holzworth will officiate. Burial will be in Valley cemetery in Valley.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home with a memorial at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Evangelical Free Church in Grand Island or Fremont Alliance Church.
Mrs. Saunders was born March 20, 1916, at Gretna to Charles and Sophia (Christensen) Schroeder. She attended a rural country school.
She married
Carroll A. Sanders on March 12, 1938. The couple lived near Waterloo. They moved to Fremont in 1971. Her husband died in 1982. In 1994, she moved to Grand Island to be near her daughter.
She was a member of Fremont Alliance Church and after moving to Grand Island she attended Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, baking, gardening and canning.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Larry Fowle of Grand Island; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Albert of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Duane C.; four brothers, Otto, Hank, Fred and Edward; and three sisters, Dora, Emma and an infant sister.
Geraldine Danker
ANSLEY -- Geraldine Danker, 71, of Ansley died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at Sandhills Manor in Broken Bow.
Services are pending at Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna.
May Gray
GREELEY -- May Gray, 93, of Greeley died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002 at the Val Haven Nursing Home in Valley.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Greeley Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Gerald Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a 7 p.m. rosary at the church.
