Myrtle Sylvara
BURWELL -- Myrtle Sylvara, 85, of Burwell died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Ericson. Burial will be in Bartlett City Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Anderson will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Memorials are suggested to the family.

'Don' Etherton
JOHNSON LAKE -- Donald "Don" E. Etherton, 71, of Johnson Lake, formerly of Grand Island, died Dec. 30, 2001, at Alvardao Hospital in San Diego.
Memorial services will be in Grand Island at a later date. His body was cremated. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to United Congregational Church in Grand Island, Johnson Lake EMS or the donor's choice.
Mr. Etherton was born April 20, 1930, at Grand Island to James C. and Goldie (Martin) Etherton.
He attended Grand Island schools and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1951. He then worked for Silas Mason and Company.
He married
Bonnie Hueneke on Dec. 30, 1951, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. In 1956, they moved to the San Diego area. He worked for Rohr Industries, attaining the position of senior grade industrial engineer. The couple returned to Grand Island in 1972. He was instrumental in establishing Chief E-Z-Liner (Chief Automotive) and was the first production manager for that facility.
Later, he transferred to Chief's corporate offices where he was director of purchasing. He retired from Chief Industries, Inc., on June 30, 2000, after 28 years of service.
Mr. Etherton died on his 50th wedding anniversary.
He was a member of Ashlar Lodge 33 A.F & A.M. of Grand Island, American Legion of St. Paul, United Congregational Church and Platt-Duetsche.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce and Kim Etherton of San Diego and Craig Etherton of Ft. Collins, Colo.; three grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Shick of Omaha; and a brother, Gary Etherton of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Thavenet, and two brothers, Wesley and Darrell Etherton.
Cindy Lloyd
MONROE -- Cindy Lloyd, 47, of rural Monroe, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, in Columbus.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa. The Rev. Robert Nienaber will officiate. Burial will be in Gruetli cemetery near Monroe.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a wake at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Monroe Fire and Rescue Squads, Genoa Fire and Rescue Squads or Gruetli Cemetery.
Anson Funeral Home in Genoa is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lloyd was born March 9, 1954, at Columbus to Quentin and Elaine (Schreiber) Tiaden. She attended rural Monroe school and graduated from Monroe High School in 1972.
She married
Bob Lloyd on Feb. 18, 1972, at St. Luke's Church in Columbus. The couple lived in Oconee from 1972 to 1979. They then purchased the old Okay school house and lived there from 1979 to 1989. In 1989, they moved to the family farm northwest of Monroe. She was employed at Photographic Memories by Kim.
She was a member of St. Rose Church and a longtime supporter of Monroe Booster Club. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, traveling and her work. She also enjoyed helping her husband obtain his seat as a Platte County Supervisor and campaigning door to door.
Survivors include her husband; her parents of Columbus; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steve and Kristi of Columbus and Jason of Monroe; a daughter, Heather of Monroe; a grandchild; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tim and Maureen Tiaden and Mike Tiaden, and a sister and brother-in-law, Connie and John Eckholt, all of Columbus; and a grandmother, Martha Schreiber of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother and grandfather Tiaden and grandfather Schreiber.
Thelma Neth
BROKEN BOW -- Thelma Neth, 93, of Lexington, formerly of Broken Bow, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002 at the Tri County Area Hospital in Lexington.
Services are pending with Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.

Leon Wiegand
PETERSBURG -- Leon F. Wiegand, 70, of Petersburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg. The Rev. Frank Baumert will officiate.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 334 of Petersburg.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church with a wake at 8 p.m.
Lance Mann
COCHITI, N.M. -- Lance L. Mann, 48, of Cochiti, N.M., formerly of Grand Island, died Dec. 15, 2001, at Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M., due to complications of lymphoma.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Gothenburg.
Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society.
Mr. Mann was born Jan. 12, 1953, in the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in Gothenburg. He attended Gothenburg Public Schools through the 10th grade and graduated from Eustis High School in 1971.
After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1971 to 1975, he attended Kearney State College.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Ruth Ann and Loren Grone, and a brother, Lane Mann, all of Mesa, Ariz.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mindy and Tom Willits of Englewood, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Mann, and grandparents, George and Ruth Mann and Gene and Effie Robertson.
Marion Winchell
PARNELL, Mo. -- Marion W. Winchell, 78, of Parnell, Mo., formerly of the St. Paul area, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Thomas G. Hyde will officiate. Burial will be in Elwood cemetery in St. Paul with military honors provided by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Jose Alfredo Murillo Godina
Jose "Wero" Alfredo Murillo Godina, 26, of Grand Island died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, in Grand Island.
Services and burial will be in Tlaltenango, Zacatecas, Mexico, at a later date.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, with a rosary service at 4 p.m., at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jose Chavez will officiate.
Memorial donations for the family will be accepted at Home Federal Savings and Loan.
Mr. Murillo was born Jan. 19, 1975, at Tlaltenango, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Alfredo and Dolores Murillo Godina. He attended school in Tlaltenango. He came to the United States in 1993 and did construction work in Longmont, Colo. He moved to Grand Island in 1996 and most recently was employed as a foreman for Staroska Construction Co.
He married
Anita M. Rodriguez on April 26, 2001, at Ogallala. The couple lived in Grand Island.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and dancing.
Survivors include his wife; his parents of Mexico; five brothers, Pedro, Armando, Fernando, Slavador and Antonio; three sisters, Juanita, Blanca and Patricia, all of Mexico; father-in-law, Jose Rodriguez; mother-in-law, Beatrice Rodriguez; stepmother-in-law, Judy Rodriguez; stepbrother-in-law, Terry Schweitzer; two stepsisters-in-law and stepbrother-in-law, Shelly Perez and Julie and Mike Knenans, all of Grand Island; and a brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe and Krista Rodriguez of Grand Island, Sofia (Rodriguez) Maldonado of Omaha and Holly Rodriguez of Grand Island.
