Josephine Harvey
Josephine V. Harvey, 88, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Tiffany Square Care Center.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Pauline Bossen
ORD -- Pauline Bossen, 94, of Ord died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Marty Robbins will officiate. Burial will be in Arcadia City Cemetery.
Family received friends Tuesday at the funeral home. The casket was closed.
Memorials are suggested to Valley County Hospital Foundation or the family's choice.
Mrs. Bossen was born Jan. 5, 1908, at Arcadia to Walter and Nina (Landers) Sorensen. She was raised at Arcadia and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1926. She then received her teacher's certificate and taught in rural schools near Arcadia for a couple of years.
She married
Floyd Bossen on June 12, 1928, at Arcadia. The couple lived on a farm near Arcadia. Due to her husband's job with the Bureau of Reclamation, the couple lived in Bismark, N.D., Denver and on Sept. 1, 1977, moved to Grand Island. Her husband died Sept. 2, 1978. She then moved to Ord. She was a resident at Valley County Nursing Home for the past 10 years.
She enjoyed traveling. She spent many winters in Mesa, Ariz., after the death of her husband.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Margene Bossen of Arcadia and Don and Joyce Bossen of Jolliet, Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law, Rae Jean and Calvin Treptow of Comstock; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and four step great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Ralph and Stanton Sorensen, and two sisters, Ruth Baird and Lucille Vescelius.
Isabelle Dowse
ANSLEY -- Isabelle (Reed) Dowse, 96, of Ansley died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Sandhills Manor in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Mason City with the Rev. Victor Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Mason City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Iverson Memorial Chapel in Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.
Bernice Lock
CENTRAL CITY -- Bernice Lock, 86, of Central City died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. The Rev. Joy Savage will officiate. Burial will be in Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Merrick Foundation.
Mrs. Lock was born April 4, 1915, at Chapman to George and Amanda (Paustian) Ehlers. She grew up in the Chapman area and attended Chapman schools.
She married
Edwin J. Lock on April 1, 1950, in Hastings. The couple lived on a farm south of Central City. They worked together raising crops, gardens, chickens, cattle and fish. They prided themselves on fine quality in all their produce. Her husband died in 1988. She later moved to Merrick Manor for 21Ž2 years and spent the remainder of her life in Long Term Care.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, handwork, crocheting, needlework, garment making and crafts. She joined her husband in deer hunting and enjoyed other outdoor activities offered by their pasture, lakes and river property. The couple raised a rose garden and enjoyed being a Pioneer Farm Family.
Survivors include family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters, Alma, Laura and Edna; and five brothers, Willie, Hugo, Ralph, Earl and Floyd.
Eddie Pesek
ORD -- Eddie Pesek, 69, of Ord died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at his home.
Services are pending at Ord Memorial Chapel.
Irene Woodworth
ERICSON -- Irene C. Woodworth of Ericson died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ericson United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mike Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Bartlett Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mrs. Woodworth was born Feb. 14, 1921, to Omer V. and Francis (Schamp) Keezer. She was delivered by her grandmother at home in Wheeler County. She was raised in Wheeler County and was a 1939 graduate of Ericson High School.
She married
James "Jim" A. Woodworth on May 25, 1940, in Yakima, Wash. While her husband was in the U.S. Army, the couple lived in various place in the United States. When he was sent overseas, she returned to Ericson to live with her family. When her husband was discharged in 1946, he joined her in Ericson. She was a homemaker. Her husband died Nov. 13, 1992.
She was a member of Ladies Legion Auxiliary for 36 years. She enjoyed trees, baking pies, canning and making jelly. She also enjoyed children and family gatherings.
Survivors include a daughter, Donice Woodworth of Central City; a son, Mike Woodworth of St. Paul; a foster daughter, Judy Janovec of Central City; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lottie Rowe of Vineland, N.J., and Rosealee Svoboda of Danevirke.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Don Keezer.
Richard Cushing
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Richard H. Cushing, 74, of Surprise, Ariz., formerly of Hastings, died Jan. 9, 2002, at Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Ariz.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery in Hastings with military rites.
A rosary will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings.
Pohn Aspen
63, Locksmith
John A. Aspen, 63, of Grand Island died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings. The Rev. Larry Gyhra will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery in Hastings with military rites.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Aspen was born Dec. 1, 1938, at Yankton, S.D., to Lester M. and Lucille (Buschelman) Aspen. He moved with his family to Hastings in 1944. He attended St. Cecilia's Catholic Schools and graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1956. He attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1969, serving in Germany, Japan, Philippines and various locations in the United States.
He married
Dorothy Grace on July 18, 1964. The couple late divorced. He lived in Omaha from 1968 to 1972 and in Hastings from 1972 to 1974. He moved to Grand Island in 1974 where he owned and operated Johnny's Lock & Key.
He was a member of Experimental Aircraft Association.
Survivors include two sons, Roger and Chuck Aspen, both of Hastings; a grandchild; his mother of Hastings; a twin sister, Joan Nelson of Westminster, Calif.; four sisters, Diann Aspen of Hastings, Adrienne Gogan of Lincoln and Mary Erion of Lincoln; and two brothers, Joel "Pete" Aspen of Hastings and Michael Aspen of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his father.
