Dorothy Dush
SILVER CREEK -- Dorothy E. Dush, 90, of Silver Creek died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at the Central City Care Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek. The Rev. Dave Korth will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Sunday at the church with a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
McKown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dush was born Nov. 18, 1911, in Osceola to George and Ann (Gembica) Sutko. She graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus.
She married
Andrew Dush on Oct. 19, 1938, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek. Following her marriage she lived near Duncan for a brief time before moving to a farm near Clarks in 1943. She continued living on the farm until she entered the Central City Care Center with her husband. They both lived there until his death on March 15, 1995. Along with raising her family she worked at Swift Packing in Columbus for several years.
She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew and Terri Dush of Columbus and Don and Terri Dush of Clarks; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gerri and Stanley Rinkol, and Joan and Danny Shefcyk, all of Columbus; a sister, Leona Mitzer of Chicago; 25 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Adolph Sutko and Louis Sutko; two sisters, Alice Kolanski and Laura Sutko; and three great-grandsons.
Wilma Karabel
ALBION -- Wilma Louise Karabel, 77, of Albion died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. The Rev. Larry Sydow will officiate. Burial will be in the Rose Hill cemetery in Albion.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mrs. Karabel was born on Oct. 20, 1924 on a farm east of Albion to William and Anna Karmann. She attended rural schools around Albion for her elementary education and went to high school in Loretto for two years. She graduated from Albion High School in 1942.
She married
Theodore Karabel on Aug. 23, 1952 in Fullerton. They lived on a farm west of Albion and moved into Albion on Nov. 30, 1967. She was a housewife and mother. For the past 15 years she helped her son Rex with his grave opening business.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Albion.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Ross and Deb of Miller, and Rex and Gary, both of Albion; two daughters and a son-in-law, Leann and Troy Ohnemus of Columbus and Linda Karabel; 4 granddaughters; one great-grandson and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane and Mary Ann Karmann of Albion and William and Monda Karmann of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Larry.
Etta Lewis
BURWELL -- Etta Nora Lewis, 89, of Burwell died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God church in Taylor. Burial will be in Kent cemetery near Taylor. The Rev. Michael Sullivan will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Lewis was born June 26, 1912 in Loup County to John Phillip and Nora Bell (Campain) Lewis.
She married
Claude Lewis on May 16, 1935. They farmed in Loup County until 1960, when they moved to a farm in Custer County south of Ansley.
They retired in 1974 and moved to Ravenna. They both mowed yards. Mrs. Lewis also worked at the cafe in the sale barn in Ravenna and cleaned houses. Mr. Lewis died in March 1986.
She purchased a home in Burwell in 1990, living there until 1998 when she moved to the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
She enjoyed gardening and children.
Survivors include three sisters and brothers-in-law, Alma and Frank Payton of Taylor; Fern Janitscheck of Ravenna and Mildred and Wayne Fales of Burwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her twin sister Retta, five sisters and five brothers.
David Frazier
OMAHA -- David L. Frazier, 57, of Omaha, formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Nebraska Rehab and Skilled Nursing of Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Island. The Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion United Methodist cemetery near Archer.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Mid-Nebraska Individual Services.
Mr. Frazier was born Aug. 24, 1944, in Grand Island to Donald and Wauneta (Bonness) Frazier. He was educated at Archer and later attended school in Cozad. He attended special education school in Grand Island. He was employed by Mid-Nebraska Individual Services.
He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church. He enjoyed music.
Survivors include many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Leonard Kropatsch
OSCEOLA -- Leonard J. Kropatsch, 87, of Osceola died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Center in Osceola.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Duncan. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus cemetery in Duncan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. vigil service, and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Arthur Bartlett
Arthur D. "Bart" Bartlett, 73, of Grand Island died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Revs. Martin P. Schmidt and Ronald Benson will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kleine Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Missouri Synod Lutheran Foundation, Bethphage Foundation, Grand Island Firefighters Foundation or Altrusa International Foundation.
Mr. Bartlett was born May 24, 1928, at Primrose to Dr. Grover and Mabel (Rave) Bartlett. In 1945, he graduated from Belgrade High School and then attended Christian College in Central City. He then attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont. He served in the Marine Corps and then returned to Grand Island and served as a fireman for 22 years.
He married
Verna Kuhn in 1949. She died in 1968.
He late married
Alice Beck on Aug. 10, 1968, in Omaha. In 1984, the couple moved to Mira Valley where they lived for 16 years before moving back to Grand Island. During his life he was co-owner and operator of Whiteway Tree Service in Grand Island, owner and operator of Dip-N-Strip, a furniture stripping and renovation service, and also served as a deputy fire marshall for the State of Nebraska.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Platt-Duetsche Society. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Cathy, and Daryl and Doris, all of Grand Island; a stepson, Gerald Beck of Grand Island; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Sok of Grand Island and Marcia Beck of Des Moines, Iowa; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Grover "Duke" and Joyce of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Harold Bartlett, a grandchild and his first wife, Verna.
