Margaret Burr
Margaret M. Burr, 78, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at BryanLGH East Campus in Lincoln.
Memorial services at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church. The Rev. Sheri Lodel will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.
There will be no visitation. Her body was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the church or donor's choice.

Beverly Gronewold
Beverly J. Gronewold, 52, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at her home.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Julie Bringelson will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Her body was cremated. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Curran Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may area suggested to the family or church.
Russell Martinez
Russell Martinez, 54, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln following heart surgery.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Virginia Garcia
FULLERTON -- Virginia L. Garcia, 73, of Fullerton died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at her daughter's home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Mary Auidanlo will officiate. Burial will be in Fullerton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Harold Klein
WOOD RIVER -- Harold E. Klein, 87, of Wood River died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at his son's home north of Wood River.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Wood River. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant cemetery south of Cairo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.
Memorials are suggested to the church, Good Samaritan Center or the donor's choice.
Mr. Klein was born March 15, 1914, at the home of his parents north of Shelton to Fred C. and Millie (Vavrina) Klein. He was educated at District 61 School. He farmed with his brother and father.
He married
Marie E. Eickhoff on April 11, 1937, at the Zion Lutheran North Shelton Church. The couple farmed northwest of Wood River where he served on the District 33 School Board.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and participated in the building of the current facility. He was active in the family farming business. The couple enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time with their grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence E. and Angeline of Wood River and Ivan H. and LeAnn of Gibbon; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris Y. and J. David Arterburn of Pleasanton, Calif.; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a step great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby, and a brother, Lester.
'Jackie' Schmid
68, Retired nurse
MONROE -- Jaqueline "Jackie" M. Schmid, 68, of Monroe died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church in Monroe. The Rev. Nancy Peebles will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church with at family prayer service at 9:45 a.m.
Memorials are suggested to American Legion Auxiliary, the church or Make a Wish Foundation.
Mrs. Schmid was born Aug. 30, 1933, at Clarks to Clyde and Mildred (Britten) Mustard. She graduated from Clarks High School in 1951. She then attended St. Catherine's School of Nursing in Omaha, graduating in 1954.
She married
Paul Schmid on April 13, 1955, at the Congregational Church in Clarks. She worked at the old St. Mary's Hospital in Columbus from 1954 until it merged with the Behlen Hospital. She retired from nursing in 1989. For several years she worked under Dr. Bruce Cowgill at the ESU 7 unit as a traveling school nurse.
She was a member of United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary in Monroe. She had been active as a Cub Scout leader and Brownie Scout leader. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, embroidery, crocheting, reading and spending time with her family. She gave elderly people home care. She helped take care of her grandchild after she was diagnosed with cancer.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Scott Gottsch and Chris and Dave Jenkinson, all of Monroe; two sons, Dave Schmid of Tucson, Ariz., and Doug Schmid of Rapid City, S.D.; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Rose Mustard of Littleton, Colo.; a sister, Frances Rice of Clarks; a brother-in-law, Hollis Campian of Brady, Texas; and three sisters-in-law, Linda Mustard of Commerce City, Colo., Loretta Mustard of Yakima, Wash., and Marge Mustard of Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild, a brother, Donald Mustard, a sister, Wilma Campaign, a brother-in-law, Albert Rice.
Christopher Watts
26, Hunting and pack trip guide
WAPITI, Wyo. -- Christopher D. Watts, 26, of Wapiti, Wyo., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, as the result of an automobile accident near Cody.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Ralph Steffensmeier will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids, after 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the church with a 7 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. Friday until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Watts was born Dec. 3, 1975, at Albion to Robert and Joan (Syslo) Watts. He was baptized Dec. 8, 1975, and later confirmed at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1994. While in school, he participated in football, wrestling, FFA and was a member of the One Act stage crew. He graduated from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis with a feedlot technology degree in 1996 and from Oklahoma Panhandle State University with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture in 1998. After graduation, he moved to Lexington where he worked at a feedlot. In 1999, he moved to Wyoming where he was working as a hunting and pack trip guide at Wapiti.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his parents of Cedar Rapids; a sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Dave Hilmer of Albion; and grandparents, Bob and Rita Watts and a great-grandmother, Clara Rutten, all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Teresa and Alois Syslo and great-grandparents, Martin Rutten and Mary and John Medinger.
Ina Klein
Ina F. Klein, 82, a resident of the Grand Island Veterans Home, formerly of Kearney, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney. The Revs. Russ Sommerfeld, Dean Hansen and Herbert Schutte will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary and prior to services Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church or the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Mrs. Klein was born June 23, 1919, on the family farm north of Amherst to Herman and Emelia (Maack) Dahlke. The family moved to Grand Island where she graduated from Grand Island Senior High School.
She married
Harvey Klein on Oct. 11, 1943, in Orlando, Fla. She and her husband farmed in the Ravenna/Pleasanton area until moving to Kearney in 1970. They moved to Grand Island in 1996.
She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney and the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of Grand Island; a daughter, Gaylene Mays of Kearney; a son, Roger Klein of Pleasanton; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a brother, Earl Dahlke of Imperial Beach, Calif.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter and three brothers.
