WOLBACH -- Gertrude L. Bandt, 90, of Wolbach, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Burial will be in the Hillside cemetery in Wolbach. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Medical Center Hospice.

Elaine M. Arends, 81, of Grand Island, died Monday, April 1, 2002 at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island.

Marguerite J. Davis, 75, of Grand Island died Monday, April 1, 2002, at Grand Island Veteran's Home.
Services are pending at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Jared Lammers
Jared William Lammers, infant son of William and Cindra (Kasson) Lammers of Grand Island, died March 24, 2002, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev. James Murphy will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Greeley Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Lana Lammers and two brothers, Kevin Bogus and Jacob Lammers, all of the home; and grandparents, John and Phyllis Kasson of Grand Island and John and Patricia Lammers of Greeley.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jack.
Jerry Sheffield
Jerry Lee Sheffield, 60, of Grand Island died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Onamae Waddel will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Make A Wish Foundation or the family's choice.
Mr. Sheffield was born July 1, 1941, at Grand Island to Charles and Margaret (Shriner) Sheffield. He grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1959. He attended Kearney State College.
He married
Barbara Baxter on Aug. 16, 1962, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. The couple lived in Denver, Kearney and Scottsbluff before moving to Grand Island in 1972. He owned and operated his own cash register business.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Platt-Duetsche Society. He enjoyed playing cards, Nebraska football and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; a daughters and son-in-law, Brandie and Doug Giffin of Omaha; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bret and Nicole Sheffield of Olathe, Kan., and Bart and Heidi Sheffield of Prior Lake, Minn.; seven grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Lois Sheffield of Grand Island; and a sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Dennis Edwards of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild.

GOTHENBURG -- Isabel Beran, 82, of Gothenburg died Monday, April 1, 2002 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

Clyde E. Clark, 90, of Central City, formerly of Hordville, died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Central City Care Center.

Leo Cordes
SHELTON -- Leo T. Cordes, 88, of Shelton died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Gibbon.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton. The Rev. Paul J. Colling will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kleine Funeral Home with a 6:30 p.m. rosary wake.
Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Shelton Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Cordes was born Sept. 5, 1913, near St. Libory to Conrad and Elizabeth (Kerssens) Cordes. He attended St. Libory Catholic School, then began farming near St. Libory and east of Grand Island.
He married
Alice Scherzberg on Sept. 19, 1940 at the St. Libory Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II and continued to farm after his discharge until 1954. The couple moved to Shelton where he became owner/operator of a Shelton business, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton, Knights Of Columbus in Grand Island Platt-Duetsche, American Legion Club of Shelton and Shelton Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing and drinking coffee with friends.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Roger Bombeck of Scotia and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Robert, and infant twin Daniel and David, a brother, Henry, three sisters, Helen Cordes, Frances Dingwerth and Rosella Mamot.
Dorothy Garretson
Dorothy E. Garretson, 76, of Creston, died Monday, April 1, 2002, at BryanLGH East in Lincoln.

Leona Knopik
ORD -- Leona Knopik, 92, of Ord died Sunday, March 31, 2002, at Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Bob Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in Ord Catholic Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to Valley County Nursing Home or local hospice.
Mrs. Knopik was born Jan. 25, 1910, in Valley County to Michael and Mary (Kapustka) Kaczka. She graduated from Hillsdale Rural School.
She married
John Knopik on Feb. 15, 1928, at Boleszyn Catholic Church northwest of Elyria. The couple farmed in Valley County until 1948 when they moved to Ord. Her husband died March 31, 1967. She did baby-sitting and alterations for area people.
She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a past member of the Altar Society and Rosary Society.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis J. and Anne Knopik of Casper, Wyo.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Kaczka of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Anna Sobon, and a grandchild.
