Ethel Diessner
ALBION -- Ethel I. Diessner, 79, of Albion died Friday, April 5, 2002, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding with the Revs. Frank Baumert and Joe Hanappel officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in Spalding.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Mrs. Diessner was born Dec. 1, 1922, in Atkinson to Casper and Anna (Anderson) Winkler. She attended elementary school at St. Mary's in O'Neill and graduated from there in 1940. After graduation she taught school.
She married
Magnus Diessner at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in O'Neill on Feb. 12, 1945. They farmed at Primrose until 1976 when they moved to Albion. She entered Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center on June 12, 1995.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding. She was also a member of St. Anne's Altar Society and belonged to the quilting club at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion.
Survivors include her husband, Magnus, of Albion; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Lynda Diessner of Primrose and Dan and Katie Diessner, all of Primrose; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Carl Heine of Omaha and Jeanne and Ed Mangers of Juniata; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, George Winkler of Grand Island; and three sisters, Pauline McKenzie and Maxine Posen, both of California, and Mary Van Every of O'Neill.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Rita Marie.
Doris Dorothy
BURWELL -- Doris I. Dorothy, 93, of Burwell died Friday, April 5, 2002, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.
Services will be at 10:30 am. Friday at the First Christian Church in Burwell. The Rev. Rolly Salts will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood cemetery in Burwell.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
Memorials are suggested to the Community Memorial Health Center.
Harold Hunkins
ANSLEY -- Harold Hunkins, 86, of Ansley died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Ansley with burial in the Ansley Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary and from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church.
Weldon Kleckner
KEARNEY -- Weldon L. Kleckner, 83, of Kearney, formerly of the Mason City area, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at St. John's Center in Kearney.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Burr Oak Church south of Broken Bow with the Rev. David Harder officiating. Burial will be in Box Elder cemetery southwest of Ansley.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Burr Oak Church, First Baptist Church in Kearney or the American Cancer Society.
Charlotte Miller
LOUP CITY -- Charlotte G. Miller, 90, of Loup City died Friday, April 5, 2002, at Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Loup City with the Rev. Del Unruh officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in Loup City.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City.
Memorials are suggested to the Miller family.
Mrs. Miller was born July 30, 1911, at Loup City to Charles and Laura (Benschoter) Briggs. She grew up in Loup City and graduated from Loup City High School in 1929. She taught three years in area rural schools: one year near Antioch and two years near Loup City. She attended Kearney Teachers College in the summers.
She married
Carl Moore at Loup City in December 1933. She worked in Sherman County judges and county attorney's offices for about 20 years. She moved to Grand Island from 1954 to 1967, where she worked for Federal Land Bank and at City Hall.
She married
Henry Miller in January 1967 in Grand Island. They lived in Pasco, Wash. He died in June 1970.
She married
J.J. Miller in October 1971 at Richland, Wash., and lived at Pasco and Grand Island. She moved back to Grand Island in 1985 and to Loup City in 1987.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church at the time of her death and had been a member of the Baptist churches in Grand Island and Washington.
Survivors include her son Richard Moore of Loup City; one stepdaughter, Ramona Bruggeman of Richland, Wash.; one stepson, Gordon Miller of California; and a special friend, Stanley Nordlund of Loup City.
She was preceded in death by three infant brothers and her husbands.
Alice Noyd
STROMSBURG -- Alice C. Noyd, 87, of Stromsburg died Thursday, April 4, 2002, in rural Stromsburg.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Evangelical Covenent Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Bob Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Salomea Skorniak
ASHTON -- Salomea Skorniak, 80, of Ashton died Sunday, April 7, 2002, at Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services are pending with Peters Funeral Home in Loup City.
Marie Tieman
ST. EDWARD -- Marie J. Tieman, 74, of St. Edward died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in St. Edward with the Rev. Tom Henstock officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery in St. Edward.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward.
Florence Murphy
Florence M. Murphy, 83, of Grand Island died Monday, April 8, 2002, at Bellevue.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the to the family.
Mrs. Murphy was born Feb. 23, 1919, at Edgemont, S.D., to George and Minnie (McGill) Crawford. She grew up and was educated in Edgemont, S.D.
She married
Harold Murphy on Oct. 25, 1934, in Hot Springs, S.D. The couple lived in Dewey, S.D. for one year before moving to Grand Island. She was employed by Jack 'N' Jill Bakery, Model Laundry and Lakeview Nursing Home.
She was a member of the Methodist Faith. She enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles, crafts and baby-sitting.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Milan and Joann Murphy of Lincoln, Harold D. Murphy of Bellevue and Dan and Velam Murphy of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Edward Junkers of Wood River; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Newton of Greenville, S.C., and Ruth Merrill of Kalispell, Mont.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, a brother and four sisters.
