David Cynova
JUNCTION CITY, Kan. -- David S. Cynova, 78, of Junction City, Kan., died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at the Geary Community Hospital in Junction City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. Al Brungardt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery at Junction City.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Junction City, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House.
Mr. Cynova was born Jan. 2, 1924, at Loup City to Alex and Clara (Grudzinski) Cynova. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1941 to 1943. He then served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946 as a Tech-5.
He married
Virginia Cross on Jan. 4, 1944, in Oberlin, Kan. He worked for Alexander Implements and Mohn Implements until 1980. He then started his own business, Dave's Repair, until his retirement in 1996. He lived in Junction City for 55 years.
He was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church and served as the head usher for 28 years. He was also a member of the Eagles and Third Degree in the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include five sons, Jerry Cynova of Memphis, Tenn., Jim Cynova of Junction City, William Cynova of Wichita, Kan., Robert Cynova of Jeff City, Mo., and Daniel Cynova of Rockledge, Fla.; two daughters, Janet Miller of Junction City and Beverly Thornberg of Omaha; two brothers, Leo Cynova of Columbus and Ralph Cynova of Grand Island; one sister, Frances "Fran" Evans of Clifton, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosella and Cecelia; one brother, Bruno and one great-grandchild.
Merrill Dallegge
Merrill Dallegge, 47, of Grand Island died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at Brian LGH East in Lincoln.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Marjorie Buhlke
Marjorie M. Buhlke, 78, of Grand Island, died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church in Burwell with the Rev. Kevin Jay officiating. Burial will be in the Burwell Cemetery.
Visitation will be prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Buhlke was born Jan. 30, 1924, in Chambers to William and Daisy (Palmer) Gumb. She married
John J. Buhlke on Oct. 17, 1942, in Ord. The couple lived on a ranch northeast of Burwell and various other Nebraska communities, before they moved to Grand Island in 1960.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Burwell.
Survivors include her husband, John of Grand Island; a son and daughter-in-law, Don N. and Judy Buhlke of Kearney; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Yvonne Gumb of Cheyenne Wells, Colo., Bill and Darlene Gumb of Sargent, and Ray and Margie Gumb of Burwell; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Norma and George Dunkel of Valentine, Lilly Hoxie of Woonsocket, S.D., Doris and Kelly Bilstein of Amelia, Wilda George of Winner, S.D., and Ilene and Frank Hulinsky of Broken Bow.
She was preceded in death by a son, Johnnie.
Donald Jones
SILVER CREEK -- Donald C. Jones, 47, Silver Creek, died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek with the Rev. Bev Minor officiating. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home in Silver Creek and from 9:30 until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Jones was born April 19, 1955, in Fullerton to Clarence and Dolores (Heins) Jones. He grew up on a farm near Silver Creek before moving into Silver Creek, where he attended schools. He graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1973.
He married
Sharon K. Peterson on May 31, 1975, at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek. He farmed and worked for Becton-Dickinson in Columbus.
Mr. Jones enjoyed hunting, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors include his mother, Dolores Jones of Silver Creek; a son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Crystal Jones of Osceola; two daughters, Michelle Jones and Stacia Jones, both of Osceola; two brothers and sisters-in-law; Dale and Nancy Jones of Grand Island, and David and Shari Jones of Silver Creek; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Mike Valasek of Omaha, Connie Vanek of Silver Creek, and Susan and Carroll Wilcox of Silver Creek; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence; an infant brother, Daniel; and his grandparents.
Lyle Steiner
HASTINGS -- Lyle E. Steiner, 59, of Hastings and formerly of Kenesaw died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings as the result of a car-train accident.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brand-Wilson Chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial with military rites by Kenesaw American Legion Post 268 will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Brand-Wilson Chapel. Friends may also sign the book at the Kenesaw Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Steiner was born July 15, 1942, at Hastings to Godfrey and Golda (Faber) Steiner.
He attended Holstein schools and graduated from Holstein High School in 1959. He entered the U.S. Air Force on Dec. 11, 1963, and served in the Vietnam War. He married
Rogene Bruhn on June 14, 1964, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Mr. Steiner was discharged from the Air Force on Dec. 30, 1983.
The Steiners moved to Kenesaw in 1983 and lived there for 19 years before moving to Hastings in September 2001.
Mr. Jones was a member of Eagles Aerie 592 in Hastings and the Disabled American Veterans in Hastings.
Survivors include his wife, Rogene; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Wendy Steiner, and Scott and Carrie Steiner, both of Lincoln; two brothers, Lloyd of Kenesaw and Harold of Holstein; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger.
Wilma McAhren
WOOD RIVER -- Wilma McAhren, 83, of Wood River died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at Western Hall County Good Samaritan Center in Wood River.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River with the Rev. Rose Bartelson officiating. Burial will be in the Wood River Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.
Memorials are suggested to the Wood River Fire Department or the Wood River cemetery Fund.
Mrs. McAhren was born Jan. 4, 1919, at Alda to Martin and Caroline (Huebner) Kenny. She grew up in the Wood River area and graduated from Wood River High School in 1936.
She married
John McAhren on July 13, 1940, at Grand Island. They couple farmed in the Wood River area until their retirement.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry of Wood River and Larry of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Jolene and Dan Smith of Wood River; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993 and three brothers, Edward, Thomas and Martin.
Erma Nitzel
Erma B. Nitzel, 87, of Grand Island died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at her home after an apparent heart attack.
Graveside services will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kleine Funeral Home.
