Bridget Gottsch
GENOA -- Bridget M. Gottsch, 16, of Genoa died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in Lincoln from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa. The Rev. Kelley Pedersen will officiate. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. until service time Monday, all at St. Rose Catholic Church.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Anson Funeral Home in Genoa is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Gottsch was born Feb. 21, 1985, in Genoa to Doug and Michelle (Reeg) Gottsch. She attended grade school in Genoa and was presently an 11th-grade student at Twin River High School. She was employed as a certified nurse's aid at the Country View Care Village in Genoa at the time of her death.
She was a member and was also baptized and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa, the high school band and F.B.L.A. at Twin River High School.
She enjoyed softball, horses, basketball, spending time with her friends, movies, fishing, music, her family's yearly boating trip and babysitting.
Survivors include her parents; one sister, Chelsey and one brother, Shane, both of Genoa; grandparents Keith and Rose Reeg of Genoa, and Ted and Charlotte Gottsch of Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents.
Raymond Knerl
RAVENNA -- Raymond Knerl, 74, of Ravenna died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services are pending with Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna.
Gladys Lamphear
ALDA -- Gladys F. Lamphear, 86, of Alda died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Center of Wood River.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Island. Rev. Rose Bartleson will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Alda united Methodist Church or the family.
Mrs. Lamphear was born April 14, 1915, in Merrick County to Henry and Laura (Beberniss) Vogt. She grew up and received her education in Merrick and Hamilton Counties.
She married
Floyd Lamphear on March 12, 1937, at Rawlings, Wyo. The couple lived in Rawlings until moving to Alda during World War II. She was employed as a clerk at the Alda Post Office fro 21 years and retired in 1976.
She was a member of the Alda Methodist Church and the Platt-Duetsche.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Larry Hettler of Grand Island; one son, Leanord of Alda; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, George Vogt of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Paul Moore
ALBION -- Paul Florian Moore, 71, of Albion died Friday, Jan. 25 2002, of natural causes at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Father Ralph Steffensmeier will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish cemetery with military rites conducted by Dan Cox American Legion Post 44.
Visitation will be from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids with a 3 p.m. Rosary, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a wake service and from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Moore was born Jan. 11, 1931 at Albion to Ilo and Elizabeth (Yilk) Moore. He received his education at Boone County District 48.
He served in the U.S. Army as a cook in Germany during the Korean Conflict from 1951 until he was honorably discharged in 1953.
He married
Margaret C. Syslo on Sept. 27, 1954, at Cedar Rapids. He lived in Cedar Rapids all his life and worked as a meat cutter at the locker, and as a bricklayer. He also worked for 40 years as a mechanic for Orshek's and Jackson Motors in Cedar Rapids.
He was a volunteer fireman and an assistant chief for the fire department. He was also a member of the American Legion where he served as membership officer for seven years. He was also a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Pattie Heiser and husband Bill of Columbus; three sons, Bob and his wife Norma, Mike and his wife Kim, all of Cedar Rapids, and Jim and his wife Bev of Glenvil; three brothers, Joe and Don of Columbus and Fritz of Boulder; seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one sister Mary Elizabeth; and two brothers, Anthony and Carroll.
Roger Hanson
HOLDREGE -- Roger D. Hanson, 78, of Holdrege died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, of Wegeners Disease at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege. The Rev. Kevin Lund, Don Leff and Murray Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Moses Hill cemetery in Phelps County.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Nelson-Harris Funeral Home in Holdrege with the family greeting friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial has been established.
Mr. Hanson was born June 8, 1923, at Elwood to Earl W. and Tillie (Nelson) Hanson. The family made their home near Loomis and he attended rural school near there. He graduated from Loomis High School in 1940.
He married
Isla Richman on Feb. 19, 1944. He farmed until March of 1945 when he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater until his honorable discharge on June 20, 1946.
Following his service he returned to Holdrege and farmed until retiring in 1984.
He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, the Holdrege CO-OP board and was a member of the American Legion in Holdrege. He also enjoyed baseball, yard work and sporting events.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Nick Zedicher of Columbus, Linda and Keith Wagner of Lincoln, Marcia and Robert Almquist of Wood River and Connie and Mike Burgeson of Holdrege; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Wilmer Hanson of Loomis, Earl and Mary Hanson of Holdrege and Sherrod and Doris Hanson of Loomis; and four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Dean Almquist of Funk, Doris Hollinger of Papillion, Dorothy and Bob Novak of Pleasant Dale and Gladys and Gerald Cole of Curtis.
He was preceded in death by one infant sister, Helen and one brother, Lawrence "Bob" Hanson.
Ed Stengel
RIVERDALE -- Ed E. Stengel, 86, of rural Riverdale died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. Rev. Charles Torpey and Tim Stoner will officiate. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery. A wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the church.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at the Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney and prior to services at the church Monday and Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the St. James Catholic Church, Kearney Catholic High School Foundation or the Good Samaritan Hospital Heart Fund.
Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stengel was born Dec. 15, 1915, at Kearney to John and Mary (Altmaier) Stengel. He grew up north of Kearney and attended Concord, Mount Pleasant and Pleasant Hill Schools.
He married
Marie Markus on Sept. 6, 1956, at Lincoln. The lived and farmed north of Kearney.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Kearney, Kearney Eagles Lodge 2722, Kearney Elks Lodge 948 and the Kearney American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, card playing and his family.
Survivors include his wife; and one brother Glen of Kearney.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Dale Fredrickson
PLEASANT VIEW, Tenn. -- Dale Ansel Fredrickson, 67, of Pleasant View, Tenn., formerly of Stromsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at his home in Pleasant View.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home. The Rev. Arno Melz will officiate. Burial will be in the Swede Home Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg.
Mr. Fredrickson was born Feb. 16, 1934, at Sioux City, Iowa, to Ansel Oscar and Mary Helen (Ferrell) Fredrickson. He attended High Prairie and Swede Home schools and then attended Stromsburg High School.
He began trucking shortly after high school. He was a truck driver most of his life. He lived in various places such as Stromsburg, Waterloo, Iowa, and Pleasant View.
He married
Conne Jo Stanley on Dec. 21, 1979, in Waterloo. He later owned and operated F & R Trucking Company. He retired from the trucking industry in 1996.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Rhonda Richards of North Platte, Lana Gannaway of Stromsburg and Janis Wren and Julie Downs, both of Waterloo; two sons, Max Fredrickson of Lincoln and John Fredrickson of Waterloo; one stepson, Jim Clements of Waterloo; one stepdaughter, Michelle Britt, also of Waterloo; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Price of Carroles, N.M.
