Joseph Warta
77, Farmer
SUMNER -- Joseph Warta, 77, of Sumner died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Sumner with the Rev. Joe Harder officiating. Burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney.
Memorials are suggested to the Cozad Area Hospice or First Baptist Church of Sumner.
Mr. Warta was born Jan. 27, 1924, at Sumner to Ben and Emma (Hynek) Warta. He grew up in Sumner and graduated from Sumner High School. On Aug. 24, 1944, he entered the United States Navy, serving during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 19, 1946.
On June 17, 1946, he married
Elva Sheehan in Norton, Kan. They lived in the Overton and Grand Island areas before moving to a farm near Sumner, where he was engaged in farming and raising cattle.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion.
He enjoyed planting trees and flowers, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his son, Gary of Grand Island; four daughters, Sharon Warta and Connie Larsen, both of Kearney, Jane Kreun of Pleasanton and Renee Sazama of Grand Island; one brother, Ed of Miller; one sister, Anna Beckoff of Ansley; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Ben, Emil, Eman and Jake; sisters, Emma and Blanche; and one infant sister.
Lorine Witte
FRIEND -- Lorine El. Witte, 81, of Friend died Friday, May 18, 2001, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cordova with the Rev. Arnold H. Jurchens officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Riverside cemetery in Crete.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Witte was born Oct. 18, 1919, at Milford to Louis and Elfriede (Eicke) Kahle. She was baptized on Nov. 16, 1919, in Crete. In 1934, she was confirmed. She attended and graduated from Dorchester Public Schools.
On Feb. 14, 1942, she married
Erwin J. Witte at Crete. They lived on a farm south of Friend until retiring and moving into Friend in 1959. After their move, she was employed by Warren Memorial Hospital for a number of years, retiring at age 75.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Cordova and was an active member of the Dorcas LWML. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Friend.
She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and card groups at Friendship Terrace. She also enjoyed raising a garden and growing flowers.
Survivors include her two daughters and son-in-law, Margaret Witte of Crete and Esther and Douglas Stearley of Lexington; four grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Emilie Mares and Wilma Adcock, both of Crete.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; and brother, Elmer Kahle.
Marvin Faling
Marvin R. Faling, 83, of Grand Island died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at his home.
Services will be at a later date at Wyuka cemetery in Lincoln.
There will be no visitation. His body was cremated.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Faling was born March 27, 1918, at Lincoln to William R. and Mary Ann (Ebben) Faling. He was raised and attended school in Lincoln, where he graduated from Jackson High School.
He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps on March 24, 1941. He served during World War II as a staff sergeant with the 454th Bomb Squadron. He was honorably discharged Oct. 24, 1945.
He married
Erma M. Sieck on Oct. 12, 1943, in Atlanta. He worked for Olson Construction in Lincoln. In 1962, the couple moved to Grand Island where he was owner and president of the B. & G. Lath and Plaster Co.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and Cornhusker football.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert and Ann Marie Faling of Washington, D.C., and Jeffrey and Andrea Faling of Lincoln; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marva Jo and James Morgan and Janice Faling-Fortner and Clark, all of Aurora, Colo., and a grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Faling and two sisters, Dorothy Faling and Majorie Currier.
Boone Boden
Infant
ORD -- Boone A. Boden, infant of Scott A. and Melanie L. (Krajnik) Boden of Ord, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney due to complications at birth.
Boone was born in Ord on Sept. 26, 2001.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ord Heartland Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Donald Pelto will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Dalton and Barrett of Ord; a sister, Sydney of Ord; grandparents, Duane and Laureen Krajnik of Ord, John and Coyne Quinn of Cleveland, Ron and Marilynn Boden of Sterling and Richard and Linda Ramsey of Firth; and great-grandparents, George and Clarale Krajnik of Ord and David Mecklem of Mitchell.
Sheyanne Hervert

RAVENNA -- Sheyanne J. Hervert, infant daughter of Gene Hervert and Jennifer Lowery, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Ravenna. The Rev. Rod Pruss will officiate. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus cemetery south of Ravenna.
Rasmussen Mortuary in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
Sheyanne was born Sept. 19, 2001, in Omaha.
Survivors include her parents; two brothers, Donovan and Jeremiah; a sister, Barbara; and grandparents, Ron and Lorrine Hervert of Ravenna.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Venessa.
Frank Novak
83, Farmer
ORD -- Frank J. Novak, 83, of Ord died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. The Rev. Bob Rooney will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ord Memorial Chapel with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to The Valley County Hospital.
Mr. Novak was born Jan. 17, 1918, in Valley County to William and Sophia (Verzal) Novak. He attended school in Ord. He farmed and raised cattle in the Springdale area of Valley County.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Survivors include numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Joe.
