Elmer Dasenbrock
Elmer F. Dasenbrock, 81, of Grand Island died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mr. Dasenbrock was born July 11, 1920, on the family farm near Leigh to Henry and Anna (Jenny) Dasenbrock. He was educated at District 45 and District 20 and graduated from Liberty Consolidated High School in Madison County in 1936.
He entered the University of Nebraska in September 1941 and, because of the attack on Pearl Harbor, left school in January 1942. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in September 1942 and was called to active duty in February 1943.
He married
Adeline Wilke on Dec. 29, 1945, in Columbus. From 1946 until 1964, the couple lived on and operated the family farm, including 13 years of operating a Grade A dairy. In 1965, the couple moved to Hooper, and he was employed as a field man for the Hooper Cooperative.
He retired in 1982 and moved to Lincoln in 1983. In 1994, he moved to Grand Island and had been a resident of the Grand Island Veterans Home since May 2000.
He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and the American Legion in Wood River.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Dinah and Bob Kerksieck of Ames, Iowa, Kaye and Phillip Ernstmeyer of Grand Island, Dawn and Ron Rhoades of Hutchinson, Kan., and Jill and Dave Vanos of Spokane, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and one sister, Elaine Houfek of LaGrange, Ky.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert, Edmund and Maurice Dasenbrock, and two sisters, Irma Luchsinger and Estella Gee.
Robert Kaumans
Robert W. Kaumans, 69, of Grand Island died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Frank Hoelck will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Kaumans was born Nov. 13, 1932, at Kearney to Nicholas and Maude (Winters) Kaumans. He grew up in Grand Island and attended St. Mary's Catholic School, graduating in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy from April 1951 to April 1955. Following the service, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He also worked as a commercial painter until becoming disabled.
He was a member of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed fishing and horse racing.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Cindy Kaumans of Eagle Bend, Minn., and Matthew and Jammie Kaumans of Henderson, Nev.; three grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Don Rock of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Halpin.
William Smith
William C. Smith, 71, of Grand Island, formerly of Lincoln, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Nebraska Veterans Home.
Services will be private to the family.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Mr. Smith was born March 13, 1930, at Crete to Peter C. and Helen B. (Strelow) Smith. He grew up in Crete and Jefferson counties and graduated from Fairbury High in 1948. He entered the U.S. Navy on July 14, 1951, serving in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on June 28, 1955.
He was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include three sons, William Smith, Dana Smith and Greg Smith, all of Seattle, Wash., and a daughter, Josanne Smith, all of Seattle, Wash.; three brothers, Clarence Smith of Washington, Kan., Robert Smith of Alexandria and Leo Smith of Ohiopyle, Pa.; and three sisters, Mildred Kreuzberg of Lincoln, Esther Schiermeyer of Orion, Ill., and Helen Smith of Imperial.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin C. and Lester L. Smith.
Mabel Buettner
ST. EDWARD -- Mabel R. Buettner, 85, of St. Edward died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Cloverlodge Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Presbyterian Church in St. Edward. The Revs. Jim Novotny and Edward Gill will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Catholic cemetery in Albion.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Miller-Levander Funeral Home in St. Edward, with a rosary at 3 p.m.
Mrs. Buettner was born May 21, 1916, at Cedar Rapids to Charles and Etta (Schulta) Fisher. She attended Boone County District 47 School.
She married
George J. Buettner on Dec. 27, 1927, in Greeley. She was baptized at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion in 1938. The couple lived in Albion, where she worked as a cook in Pittenger Hotel and various other places in Albion. After her husband's death in 1967, she moved to St. Edward. She entered the Cloverlodge Care Center on Oct. 28, 2000.
She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and Altar Society.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Delores of St. Edward; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Grace Kraft of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, Clara Nuernberger, Tena Brandt and Rieka Bergantzel, and a brother, George Fisher.
Christol Cramer
POLK -- Christol Mae Cramer, 91, of Polk died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Polk. The Rev. Anderson W. Kwankin will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Solt Funeral Home in Polk. Burial will be in the Arborville cemetery near Polk.
Memorials are suggested to the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg or the United Methodist Church in Polk.
Mrs. Cramer was born May 5, 1910, in Polk County to John Henry and Adella Fern (Doremus) Quick. She attended Polk County and Cheyenne County schools and later the Grand Island School of Business.
She married
Cleo R. Cramer on Oct. 19, 1929, at the First Methodist Church in Grand Island. They lived in the Polk area. She was a homemaker and worked 18 years at the Good Samaritan Center in Osceola on the care staff. Mr. Cramer died Nov. 29, 1983. Mrs. Cramer had been living at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg since 1994.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Polk, the Rebekah Lodge, and she enjoyed crocheting, sewing and gardening.
Survivors include five daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Elwood Brinley of San Jacinto, Calif., Joyce and Richard Sealey Jr. of Polk, Judy Jones of Whitewater, Wis., Joan and Everett Frahm of Kansas City, Mo., and Jackie and Gerald Cline of Central City; three sisters, Dorothy Strohman of Worland, Wyo., Beverly Smith of Hanna, Wyo., and June Wunder of Torrington, Wyo.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Georgia Loveland of Las Vegas and Don and Marge Loveland of Long Pine, Wyo.; 21 grandchildren; two step granddaughters; 54 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanette Shostrom; two grandsons and seven brothers.
Evelyn Peetz
PALMER -- Evelyn A. Peetz, 64, of Palmer died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Palmer. The Rev. Robert Schilling will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Palmer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home in Palmer.
LeRoy Snethen
EDDYVILLE -- LeRoy Edward Snethen, 60, of Eddyville, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at the Callaway District Hospital in Callaway.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Eddyville. The Rev. Dale Coates will officiate. Burial will be in the Lomax Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Govier Brothers Mortuary and from 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the church in Eddyville.
Memorials are suggested to the Lomax cemetery Fund or to the family.
Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Snethen was born March 14, 1941, at Johnson City, Ill., to LeRoy and Elsie (Alldredge) Snethen. At the age of 2, his mother died and his father raised the five children. His father died when he was 16 and he lived with aunts and uncles until he joined the service in 1961. After his discharge in 1963, he worked as a mechanic at various jobs from Illinois to the West Coast.
He married
Patricia Johnston in Dunning, and they lived in the Oconto and Eddyville communities for the last 14 years.
He attended the United Methodist Church in Oconto. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post No. 250 and Black Powder Club. He enjoyed black powder shooting, reloading, collecting guns, fishing, hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Mike Snethen of Eddyville; two daughters, Teresa Snethen and Tammy Trumbell, both of Zeigler, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Jerri Edelman of Poway, Calif.; one grandson, and two sisters, Mary Williams of Portland, Ore., and Betty York of Robbins, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lee; and two brothers, Charles and Russell.
