Marie Bilslend
Marie K. Bilslend, 84, of Grand Island died Thursday, April 11, 2002, in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate.
Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church or Shriners Children's Hospital.
Mrs. Bilslend was born May 25, 1917, at Boelus to Niels and Marie (Nielsen) Christensen.
She grew up and was educated in the Dannebrog area.
She married
Merton A. Bilslend on May 12, 1962, in Dannebrog.
The couple lived in Grand Island.
She was employed at O.P. Skagg's and later at Nebraska Consolidated Mills.
Her husband died April 21, 2000.
She continued to live in the Grand Island and Kearney areas.
She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Grand Island Secretaries Association, Ladies Shrine Club, Riverside Ladies Golf Club and various card clubs.
She enjoyed crocheting, needle point and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Joan M. Payton of Colorado Springs, Colo., three step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and two sisters.
Lawrence Meyer
Lawrence F. Meyer, 83, of Grand Island, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at his home.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Satie Olson
Satie Marie Olson, 89, of Grand Island died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at her home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Messiah Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Jack Eske will officiate.
Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Viona Trueblood
Viona E. Trueblood, 79, of Grand Island, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Charlene Arndt
HASTINGS -- Charlene M. Arndt, 67, of Hastings died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brand-Wilson Mortuary Chapel in Hastings.
The Rev. Dean Joy will officiate.
Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Ansley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday at the mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Arndt was born May 23, 1934, at Mason City to Charles and Lillian (Engleman) West.
She married
Gary K. Arndt on May 25, 1963, in Broken Bow.
She moved to Hastings in 1965 from Broken Bow.
She worked in shipping at Dutton Lainson and later at Hastings Regional Center as an HRT.
She was a member of Eagles Club Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Soni Fitzpatrick of Garfield, Ark., Sheila Panowicz of Hastings, Shelli Moore of Bellevue and Sherri Heeren of Hastings; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Doris Runyan of Hastings; and a brother, Keith "Smokey" West of Kearney.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild and a brother, Darrell.
Sharon Hudson
STROMSBURG -- Sharon M. Hudson, 68, of Stromsburg, died Thursday, April 11, 2002 at BryanLGH West in Lincoln.
Services are pending with Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.
Monte Kyes
ORD -- Monte D. Kyes, 36, of Ord, formerly of Central City, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairview United Methodist Church near Central City.
The Revs. Rich Savage and Cliff Reynolds will officiate.
Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggest to the family for foster youth programs.
Wagner Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Kyes was born Jan. 13, 1966, at Central City to Marvin and Mary Ann (Wells) Kyes of Central City.
He grew up on the farm, 11 miles northwest of Central City and attended Central City Public Schools.
He graduated in 1984.
He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated in 1989 with a degree in sociology.
He was employed by the Nebraska Social Services with residences in Kearney, Hastings, and Broken Bow, and at the Lutheran Family Services in Broken Bow.
He was working with Region III Behavioral Health Services in Burwell.
He enjoyed playing cards, find-a-word puzzles, music and being with his family.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and the Huskers.
Mr. Kyes kept score and officiated basketball games for youth leagues and tournaments at the YMCA.
He was active in the United Methodist Church and sang in the choir.
He was a member of the Methodist Mens Group and traveled to Texas and Mexico with the church to repair and build homes and churches.
He participated in the YMCA Big Brother program, provided respite service for foster families and was a foster parent to Matt and Josh.
Survivors include his parents; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Jeffrey Kyes of Rising City, Chad Kyes of Lincoln, and David and April Kyes of Brandon, S.D.; a sister-in-law, Terri Kyes of Fremont; and grandmothers, Erma Kyes of Central City and Virgie Wells of Norfolk.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dean Kyes and Clyde Wells.
Robert Schroeder
PHILLIPS -- Robert Schroeder, 63, of Phillips died Thursday, April 11, 2002, at Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery.
