Phyllis Morgan
FAIRMONT -- Phyllis J. Morgan, 84, of Fairmont, formerly of Fullerton, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at the Fairview Manor in Fairmont.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton.
The Rev. Larry Phillips will officiate.
Burial will be in the Fullerton Catholic cemetery in Fullerton.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Fullerton Rescue Squad.
Mrs. Morgan was born May 31, 1917, in Butler County to Ottis and Jessie June (Moore) Clark.
She attended Kramer High School in Columbus and graduated in 1935.
She married
Frank Morgan on May 17, 1941, in Columbus.
They live in Columbus, rural Clarks and moved to Fullerton in 1967.
Mr. Morgan died on Oct. 7, 1984.
Mrs. Morgan moved to the Fairview Manor on Dec. 15, 1995.
She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Fullerton.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, working crossword puzzles, and being with her family.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Douglas Ratcliff of Fullerton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Francis and Lureen Morgan of Joplin, Mo., Bill and Charlene Morgan of St. Paul, and Mike and Patty Morgan of Fullerton; seven grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, George and Howard Clark; and two sisters, Orma Harris and Florence Harris.
Rosa Athey
EUDORA, Kan. -- Rosa K. Athey, 86, of Eudora, Kan., formerly of Brewster, died Monday, April 8, 2002, at Eudora Nursing Center in Eudora, Kan.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at United Church of Christ in Brewster.
The Rev. Larry Milliken will officiate.
Burial will be in Purdum Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Mrs. Athey was born April 15, 1915, in the Purdum area to Harry P. and Hulda C. (Neubauer) Johnston.
She grew up in the Purdum area and graduated from Dunning High School.
She later graduated from Kearney State College with a degree in education.
She married
Earl A. "Buck" or "Brown" Athey in Bassett.
The couple lived in Nebraska all their married
life.
In 1948, the family moved to Brewster where she taught school and her husband ran the Kaiser-Frazier car dealership.
Around 1962, they moved to Shelton and later lived in Elba and St. Paul.
She taught for many years in rural schools and St. Paul.
She retired from teaching after 37 years.
She later carried mail in the Brewster area.
Her husband died Sept. 10, 1979.
She continued to lived in Nebraska until moving to Eudora Nursing Center.
She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Broken Bow, Delta Kappa Gamma and Rural Mail Carriers.
She enjoyed spending time with family and visiting with former students.
Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Alma Wiggins of Broken Bow, Veta and Ken McNair of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Phyllis and Richard McNair of Grand Junction, Colo., and Valene and K.P. Vanice III of Kansas City, Kan.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Jane Athey of Lincoln and Donnie Athey of Kansas City, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harry Johnston of Brewster and Bob Johnston of Dunning.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, a brother and a son-in-law, Don Wiggins.
William Cummings
NORTHGLENN, Colo. -- William O. Cummings, 70, of Northglenn, Colo., died Saturday, April 6, 2002.
Services were held April 9 at Gethsemene Lutheran Church in Northglenn, Colo.
Burial was in Fort Logan National cemetery in Denver.
Horan & McConaty Family Chapel in Thorton, Colo. was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the church or Warren Village in Denver.
Mr. Cummings was born Oct. 8, 1931, at Grand Island to Orr and Marie J. Cummings.
He graduated from high school in Grand Island in 1950.
He joined the U.S. Navy on June 15, 1950.
He served for four years on the USS Blue, a destroyer.
He was retired from Gates Rubber Company.
He married
Marlene Jessen on Sept. 10, 1960, in Northglenn, Colo.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law Lisa Marie and Tom Corley of Westminster, Colo.; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott O. and Mary Anne Cummings of Albany, Ore.; two grandchildren; two brothers, James Cummings of Grand Island and Larry Cummings of Superior; and a sister, Frances Miller of North Platte.
August Voigt
RICHMOND, Va. -- August W. Voigt, 92, of Richmond, Va., formerly of the Loup City area, died Nov. 12, 2001, in Richmond.
Private graveside service will be Saturday at Litchfield cemetery with military rites provided by Litchfield American Legion Post 293.
A memorial luncheon will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Colony Club in Loup City for family and friends.
Those attending need to call the Colony Club with names and number of people attending.
There will also be a sign up sheet at Litchfield Bank.
Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Voigt was born Nov. 16, 1909, at St. Libory to August and Marie Voigt who came from Germany.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1929 and retired 22 years later as a Chief Warrant Officer III.
His career was spent aboard ships prior, during and after World War II.
He received many medals.
He married
Crystal Gilmor in 1938.
The couple lived in California.
They then farmed outside of Loup City.
He spent the last seven years living in Olympia, Wash., and Cumberland, Va.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Jerry Baxter of Cumberland, Va., and Yvonne and Jim Mares of Wenatchee, Wash., eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, Christy and a grandchild.
