Daniel Traxler
Daniel Anthony Traxler, 24, of Grand Island, formerly of Aurora, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, in a car accident near Ponca.
Survivors include his mother, Patricia Traxler of Grand Island; two brothers, David and Patrick, both of Grand Island.
Services are pending.
Wendolyn Iverson
ALBION -- Wendolyn Iverson, 84, of Albion died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services are pending at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Levi Lindekugel
GIBBON -- Levi August Lindekugel, 9, of rural Gibbon died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at his home following a long illness.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Faith United Church of Gibbon. Burial will be in the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Bethel United Methodist Church in rural Gibbon.
Godberson Mortuary of Gibbon/Shelton is in charge of arrangements.
Angela Nabity
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Angela Nabity, 60, of Bloomington, Minn., formerly of Chapman, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Werness Brothers Chapel in Bloomington.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of donor's choice.
Miss Nabity was a teacher for many years in the Bloomington school district.
Survivors include sisters, Virginia Nabity; Martha Mae (Mrs. James) Dibbern; brothers, Dr. Stanley F., Raymond P., Alfred E., Joseph, Richard, and Virgil.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Wilhelmenia Nabity; brothers, George and Ernest.
Harold Townsend Jr.
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. -- Harold J. Townsend Jr., 74, of Lake Oswego, Ore., formerly of Grand Island, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, following a heart attack at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Ore.
Mr. Townsend was cremated. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lake Oswego United Methodist Church.
Sunnyside Chapel of Portland, Ore., is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the church building fund or the American Heart Association.
Mr. Townsend was born on July 9, 1924, in Lincoln to Harold J. Sr. and Persus (Hendrix) Townsend. He moved to Grand Island in 1926 and graduated from Grand Island High School in 1942.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He then attended the Kansas City Art Institute and American Academy of Art in Chicago.
He married
Jo Ann Wobbeking in 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa, where they lived until moving to Lake Oswego in 1992.
He worked as a graphic designer for advertising agencies in Chicago and Waterloo, Iowa, where he later established his own business, Townsend Creative Services.
He was active in many community projects in both Waterloo and Lake Oswego. He was a member and trustee of Lake Oswego United Methodist Church, a member of the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center and a volunteer trolley man on the Willamette Shore Trolley.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Betsy Fontenot of Lake Oswego; a son, Harold John Townsend III of Eden Prairie, Minn.; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Earl of Farmington, Minn., and Lloyd of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Geddes and Thelma Peoples.
Kathleen Beattie
Kathleen "Anita" Brandon Beattie, 84, of Grand Island died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Graveside services will be at a later date in Hay Springs. The Rev. Robert Karnish will officiate. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Beattie was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mrs. Beattie was born on Oct. 25, 1914, at Hay Springs to John and Celia (Peters) Reid. She graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1932 and went to Omaha Business College in 1933.
She married
Russell L. Brandon in 1933 in Montana. They lived in Iowa until 1937, when they moved to Hay Springs. They moved to Gordon in 1951. She worked as a cosmetologist most of her life until retiring. Mr. Brandon died on July 4, 1953. After his death, she lived in Scottsbluff and Sidney. She moved to California in 1968.
She married
Tom Beattie in 1974. He died in 1984. She moved to Grand Island in 1991.
She was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include three sons, Hugh Brandon of Grand Island, David Brandon of Loveland, Colo., and Bradley Brandon of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Kathleen McGuire of Lincoln and Bea Anne Taylor of Gordon; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Reid of Lubbock, Texas; and one sister, Lorna Corbetta of Menlo Park, Calif.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by one grandson; one brother, Jack; and one sister, Arleen.
Mary Elder
Mary Jean Elder, 43, of Grand Island died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Tim Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Berwick cemetery near Cairo.
A closed-casket visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
She was born on Dec. 22, 1955, at Ogallala to Roy and Betty (Bailey) O'Berg. She grew up at Ogallala and Imperial. She was educated at Imperial and graduated from Chase County High School in January 1974.
She married
Ken E. Elder on Oct. 17, 1981, at McCook. The couple lived in Grand Island. They later moved to Alda. She began working for Dr. Philip B. Sextro in 1982 at the Grand Island Foot Clinic as a podiatric assistant. They moved to Grand Island in 1997. She worked at the Grand Island Foot Clinic until the time of her death.
She enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, her dogs and bowling. She collected Christmas mice and salt and pepper shakers. She was also an avid cook and reader.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Blaine "B.J." of Grand Island; one daughter, Angela Elder of Chadron; three grandchildren; three brothers, Gary O'Berg of Richland, Don O'Berg of Columbus and Mike Van Vleet of Bandera, Texas; one sister, Pam (Mrs. Brad) Liebhart of Imperial; her dad, Wes Van Vleet of Bandera, Texas; and grandmother, Zella Bailey of Paxton.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother.
Fred Wilsey Sr.
Fred L. Wilsey Sr., 78, of Grand Island died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Warriner will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Wilsey was born on March 21, 1920, in Lexington to Leon and Lela (Collins) Wilsey. He grew up in Lexington and was educated there.
He entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 31, 1942, in Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and served during World War II. He was discharged on Feb. 6, 1946, in El Paso, Texas.
He married
Velma Sanders on June 11, 1946, in Lexington. The couple lived in Lexington and moved to Grand Island in 1960. Mr. Wilsey worked as an appliance repairman until he retired in 1980.
His hobbies included woodworking and gardening.
Survivors included his wife; five sons, Robert, Fred Jr. and Patrick, all of Grand Island, Raymond of Nampa, Idaho, and Gary of Beatrice; two daughters, Deborah (Mrs. Ron) Kalkwarf of Aurora and Patricia Wilsey of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Leon Wilsey of Grand Island; and six sisters, Fern of McCook, Thelma of California, June of North Platte, Beverly of Minden, Ladena of Spanish Fork, Utah, and Elsa Lou of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, one sister and two brothers.
