Mervin Winter
SCOTIA -- Mervin Winter, 82, of Scotia died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at the Greeley Care Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia. The Rev. Bob Paulson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery at Scotia.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the Scotia Rescue Unit.
Arthur Stewart Jr.
RANDOLPH -- Arthur A. Stewart Jr., 74, of Randolph, formerly of Alda, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Norfolk.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Johnson's Funeral Chapel in Randolph. The Rev. Marcille Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in the Randolph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Stewart was born on June 17, 1924, at Lynch to Arthur Sr. and Frances (Stuart) Stewart. He attended high school to the 11th grade.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from Feb. 25, 1946, to March 27, 1947.
He married
Kathleen Strathman on May 12, 1964, at Randolph.
He lived at Kearney for 10 years and Alda for 24 years. He worked as a television repairman in Alda. He had just moved to Randolph.
Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Evelyn Landrum and Lois Furr, both of Yuma, Ariz.; and four brothers, Leon of Spring Valley, Calif., Kenneth of Brea, Calif., Keith of Yuma, Ariz., and Dean of Riverside, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Norma Jean Funderburg
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Norma Jean Funderburg, 68, of North Little Rock, Ark., formerly of Howard County, died July 24, 1998, at North Little Rock.
Services were on Monday at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock. The Rev. James Thomason officiated. Burial was in Edgewood Memorial Park.
North Little Rock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Funderburg was born on Dec. 15, 1929, in Howard County to Robert and Anna (Mortensen) Nielsen.
She married
Doyle Funderburg on Dec. 5, 1948.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Delinda Strozyk of North Little Rock and Brenda Brewer of Byron, Ill.; a son, Doyle Robert Funderburg of North Little Rock; five grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Belle Lynch of Wichita, Kan., Alda B'hle of St. Libory and Mary Jane Trentman of Grand Island; and four brothers, Donald and Mickey Nielsen, both of St. Libory, Wilber Nielsen of Grand Island and Robert Nielsen of Rock Springs, Wyo.
Fred Hill
SALEM, Ore. -- Fred Hill, 66, of Salem, Ore., formerly of Grand Island, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in Oregon.
Services were on July 24 at the Virgil T. Golden Chapel in Salem. Burial was in Belcrest Memorial Park.
Memorials are suggested to Evergreen Hospice or Salem Hospital Home Care.
Mr. Hill was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and moved to Salem in 1954. He was administrative manager for the Oregon State Hospital for 32 years and was co-owner with his brother of Noble's Tavern from 1985 to 1996.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene; one daughter, Wendy Parr of Maitland, Fla.; one son, Larry of Salem; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and three brothers, Billy and Jack, both of Salem, and Charles "Bud" Hill of Grand Island.
Thomas Lanigan
GLENDALE, Calif. -- Thomas Lanigan of Glendale, Calif., died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in California.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart cemetery in Greeley. The Rev. Gerald Carlson will officiate.
T.J. Finn and Sons Mortuary of Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
Lorraine Ramsey
BENTON, Ky. -- Lorraine Marie Ramsey, 73, of Benton, Ky., died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at her home.
Memorial services will be at noon Saturday at the Maple Spring United Methodist Church in Benton. The Rev. Bob Saywell will officiate.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.
Memorials are suggested to the wellness program at Lakeland Wesley Village or the church.
Mrs. Ramsey was born to Wilbur R. and Josephine Thorndyke.
She married
James Ramsey.
She was a member of the Maple Spring United Methodist Church and Church Women and served as choir director. She was also a member of the Lakeland Wesley Village Residents Association, Village Panhandlers Band and the Order of the Eastern Star in Benton.
Survivors include two daughters, Rene'e Brodine of Kearney and Michele Sherrill of Indianapolis; a son, Craig Ramsey of Milan, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; her mother, of Calvert City, Ky.; and one sister, Maurita Mason of Hardin, Ky.
She was preceded in death by one son, Alan Dana Ramsey; two grandchildren; and her father.
Jack Schaaf
RENO, Nev. -- Jack Richard Schaaf, 66, of Reno, Nev., formerly of Grand Island, died Monday, July 27, 1998, at his home.
Services will be at a later date. Mr. Schaaf was cremated. Walton Funeral Home of Reno is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Schaaf was born on July 30, 1931, at Grand Island to Emil Sr. and Viola (Wilde) Schaaf. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High and Hastings College.
He moved from Nebraska to Reno, Nev., in 1972. He was facility manager at the Sands Regency Hotel in Reno.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Layne; two sons, Pat Schaaf of Kenesaw and Ted Schaaf of Scottsbluff; one daughter, Kay Sidders of Kenesaw; nine grandchildren; and one brother, Emil Schaaf Jr. of Grand Island.
Margaret Potter
Margaret Potter, 86, of 508 S. Shady Bend Road died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at the Skilled Care Unit of St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Donald Coslor
SARGENT - Donald Coslor, 77, of Sargent died Monday, June 15, 1998, on his way to the Sargent District Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent. The Revs. Samm Johnston and Denny Brechbill will officiate.
Burial will be in West Union cemetery with military graveside services.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
