Charles Peirson
Charles W. Peirson, 82, of Grand Island died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at Park Place Health Care and Rehab Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Julie Bringlesen will officiate.
Cremation will take place following the services. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be prior to service time Monday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Mr. Peirson was born on July 7, 1915, at Alexandria to Edward and Elsie (Harnden) Peirson. He moved to Custer County in 1935.
He married
Winona Souders on March 17, 1938, at Broken Bow. They farmed and ranched throughout their marriage. He also owned several small businesses. He retired in 1977 and moved to Grand Island in 1981.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and numerous camping clubs.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Dale) Green of Sargent and Winnie Drugsvold of Grand Island; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mae (Mrs. James) Reed of Broken Bow.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Henry Anderson
FULLERTON -- Henry Anderson, 102, of Fullerton died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Palmer's Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Eric Biehl will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Genoa.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Robert Anderson
STROMSBURG -- Robert S. Anderson, 69, of Stromsburg died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg. The Rev. Keith Brozek will officiate. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday at Anderson-Dodds-Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg.
'Vickie' Baker
COLUMBUS -- Victoria "Vickie" M. Baker, 23, of Columbus, formerly of Silver Creek, died of a sudden illness Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence's Catholic Church in Silver Creek. The Rev. Ken Vavrina will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lawrence's Catholic cemetery at Silver Creek.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Sunday at the church with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
McKown Funeral Home of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Miss Baker was born on May 28, 1974, at Columbus to Daniel and Sandra (Prososki) Baker. She graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1992. She had worked in Schuyler since graduation.
She was a member of St. Lawrence's Catholic Church in Silver Creek.
Survivors include her parents, of Silver Creek; four brothers, Dale Baker, Daniel Baker and David Baker, all of Silver Creek, and Robert Baker of Columbus; and her maternal grandparents, Rudolph and Theresa Prososki of Silver Creek.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Victoria Baker.
Margaret Cahalane
Wood River -- Margaret P. Cahalane, 96, of the Good Samaritan Center in Wood River died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at the center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the cathedral, St. Mary's Convent or the Crosier Monastery in Hastings.
Mrs. Cahalane was born on Feb. 11, 1901, in Wood River to Thomas W. and Mary Marie (Malloy) Caveny. She was educated at a rural school near Wood River. After her education, she did housekeeping.
She married
Edward F. Cahalane on Nov. 19, 1925, in Grand Island. Mrs. Cahalane was the first licensed day-care provider in Grand Island. She worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant during World War II and continued in child care after the war.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and St. Mary's Altar Society.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia R' and Mary Lou Randolph, both of Grand Island; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Clark of Sterling, Colo.
Her husband died in 1962. She also was preceded in death by three sons, Edward, Raymond and Jerry; three brothers, Jim Caveny, Francis Caveny and Thomas Caveny; and two sisters, Nelle Bryson and Catherine Johnson.
Annabel Dunbar
BROKEN BOW -- Annabel R. Dunbar, 58, of Broken Bow died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of God in Broken Bow. The Rev. Tom Coll will officiate. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery.
Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Mid Nebraska Services or the church.
Miss Dunbar was born on Nov. 28, 1939, at Payette, Idaho, to Shannon and Ruth (Dressen) Dunbar. She contracted polio at the age of 4 months. Her family moved to the Broken Bow and Milburn area in Custer County.
She moved to the Beatrice State Home at the age of 5 and later moved to the Burwell Nursing Home. She moved to Mid Nebraska Services in Broken Bow in 1972 and worked at the Mid Nebraska workshop.
She lived independently in her own apartment for more than 20 years. Her communication greatly improved with the aid of automatic communication devices.
She enjoyed country music, especially Allan Jackson, her trip to Disneyland and church activities.
Survivors include her mother, Marian Dunbar of Ord; a sister, Delores Hyde of Ord; and a brother, Hank Dunbar of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Shannon and Ruth Dunbar.
'Katie' Grzywa
FULLERTON -- Catherine "Katie" Grzywa, 70, of Fullerton died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at the Fullerton Manor.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton. The Rev. Richard Whiteing will officiate. Burial will be in the Fullerton Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. vigil service, Sunday at Palmer's Funeral Home in Fullerton.
Mrs. Grzywa was born on Nov. 18, 1927, at Loup City to Anthony and Josephine (Toczek) Badura. She grew up in Fullerton and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1945.
She married
Julius Grzywa on June 15, 1948, at Fullerton. She taught in country schools.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a 4-H leader, taught religious education and was a substitute teacher at parochial schools.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jerome of Fullerton and Thomas of Richmond, Va.; three daughters, Janet Johnson of Hastings, Elizabeth "Betty" Duncan of Lakewood, Colo., and Patricia (Mrs. Christopher) Powers of Fayetteville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; two brothers, L.A. "Tony" Badura of Fremont and Robert of Genoa; and one sister, Mary Ellen Badura of Fullerton.
