Cathryn Hohnstein
CINCINNATI -- Cathryn Linn (Rainforth) Hohnstein, 62, of Cincinnati, formerly of Hastings, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at the University of Cincinnati Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Rosedale Methodist Church in Rosedale. The Rev. William Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation.
Mrs. Hohnstein was born on April 22, 1936, at Hastings to Roy and Gwendolyn (Linn) Rainforth. She grew up in Rosedale and graduated from Hastings High School in 1953. She attended Hastings College and also taught school in Hastings for two years.
She graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University and then returned to teach in Hastings for another year.
She married
Dean Hohnstein on June 10, 1959, at Rosedale. The couple lived in Milwaukee, where she taught. They moved in 1984 to Florida and in 1988 to Cincinnati, where she taught.
She was a member of the PEO and the Anderson Hills United Methodist Church in Cincinnati.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Gregory D. Hohnstein of Wheaton, Ill., and Scott R. Hohnstein of Cincinnati; one daughter, Suzanne L. Hohnstein of Portland, Ore.; two grandchildren; and three sisters, Marsha (Mrs. Myron) Lautenschlager, Patty (Mrs. Gerald) Jones and Mary Gwen (Mrs. Kenneth) Hollister of Doniphan.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Paul Larsen
Paul C. Larsen, 94, of Grand Island died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at St. Francis Memorial Health Center Skilled Care Unit.
Services are pending with Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
'Gene' Beck
CENTRAL CITY -- Eugene "Gene" C. Beck, 53, of Central City died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at Community Care in Central City after a short bout with cancer.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Chapman cemetery with the Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch officiating.
Solt Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Beck was born on Sept. 17, 1945, in Grand Island to William and Faith (Davis) Beck. He grew up and attended school in Grand Island. He lived his entire life in various locations in Nebraska, mainly in Grand Island, Marquette and Central City.
He was an auto mechanic and enjoyed building and rebuilding vehicles as his hobby. He had started his own business in Central City shortly before being diagnosed with cancer.
He married
Jennifer Lyn Stevens in Grand Island on Dec. 17, 1998.
Survivors include his wife of Central City; four daughters, Nicole Lyn and Alisha Iona Beck, both at home, Theresa Beck of Hastings and Tina Beck of Grand Island; five sons, Kevin Beck of Kansas, Bobby and Kenny Beck of Grand Island, Chris Beck of Alda and Billy Beck of Cairo; three grandchildren; two sisters, Candee (Mrs. Lonnie) Bandt of Central City and Rhonda (Mrs. Marc) Par'e of Mechanicsville, Md.; and four brothers, Robert Svitak of Orlando, Fla., Donald Beck of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kevin Beck of Indiana and Craig Beck of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Leslie Brundage Jr.
CAIRO -- Leslie Brundage Jr., 55, of Cairo died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in Cairo.
Services are pending with Apfel Funeral Home in Cairo.
Survivors include his parents, Leslie and Marlene Brundage Sr. of Cairo; two sons, Micheal Brundage and Richard Brundage, both of Geneva; and one daughter, Brenda Ruther of Hansen.
Donna Camp
PETERSBURG -- Donna Rae Camp, 75, of Petersburg died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion with the Rev. Brian Bergum officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Petersburg.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Camp was born on Jan. 11, 1923, on a farm in the North Branch area east of Petersburg to Louis and Manfreda Faye (Thomas) Levos. She was baptized on Jan. 21, 1923, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in rural Petersburg and confirmed on April 2, 1939, at Grace Lutheran Church in Petersburg.
She received her elementary education at School District 33 east of Petersburg and School District 36 in Petersburg. She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1940.
After high school, she moved to Omaha, where she worked at St. Joseph Hospital as a dietitian. She moved to Lincoln and worked for the Elastic Stop Nut Co., which made lock nuts for airplanes in World War II. After the war, the company was sold to Elgin Watch Co., and she continued working there. She attended Lincoln School of Business during this time.
She married
Harold J. Camp on Sept. 17, 1944, at Topeka General Hospital Chapel in Topeka. They moved to Petersburg in 1946. She began working at the post office as a clerk in 1951. She also served as an active postmaster at Belgrade and a substitute clerk at area post offices. She retired in 1984.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Petersburg and later transferred to Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. She was a member and past president of American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 334 of Petersburg and a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No. 736 of Albion. She also belonged to Peace Circle at church, the hospital auxiliary, helped with the bloodmobile and participated in golf and bowling leagues.
Survivors include her husband, Harold of Petersburg; two sons, Tom Camp of Kearney and Steve Camp of Bassett; one daughter, Linda Rosenthal of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Hylan "Bus" Levos of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Shelby Kay Camp.
Catherine Hemmingsen
PRIMROSE -- Catherine P. Hemmingsen, 83, of Primrose died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, at Boone County Hospital in Albion.
Services are pending with Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Floyd Iwanski
ORD -- Floyd Iwanski, 75, of Ord died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at his home in Ord.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord with the Rev. Jim Warner officiating. Burial will be in the Ord City cemetery with military rites by the Ord VFW and American Legion.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel, with a rosary and Christian wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Lyle V. Johnson
STROMSBURG -- Lyle V. Johnson, 79, of Stromsburg died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg with the Rev. Bruce Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Stromsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg.
John Ketchmark
SCOTIA -- John Ketchmark, 82, of Scotia died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at Valley County Hospital in Ord.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Greeley with the Rev. Gerald Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a 7 p.m. rosary.
Memorials are suggested to the Scotia rescue unit or the Kidney Foundation.
Mr. Ketchmark was born on July 20, 1916, on the family homestead northwest of Greeley to John and Donna (Hughes) Ketchmark. He was raised on the family farm and attended rural school. He farmed with his parents for a time before moving to Huntley, Ill., where he helped his brother on a dairy farm.
He returned to Nebraska and married
Clare Schmeits on May 28, 1945. They lived on the Anton and Henry Schmeits farm northeast of Spalding. They later moved to a farm on Mud Creek northeast of Spalding. In 1957, they moved to a farm northeast of Burwell. In 1969, they moved to Scotia, where they bought a farm on the east edge of town.
Mrs. Ketchmark died on Sept. 13, 1993. He continued to live in Scotia until his death.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Scotia.
Survivors include four sons, Joseph of Omaha, Frank of Westminster, Colo., John "Tom" of Lincoln and Bernard of Hastings; six daughters, Patricia Gingery of Beatrice, Michaela Schultz of Clarks, Colleen Pedersen of Scotia, Mary Dierberger of North Loup, Ann Russell of Hastings and Theresa Freeman of Doniphan; 28 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Ketchmark of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Donald Ketchmark of Springfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant son, Billy Joe; a grandson, Ryan Ketchmark; two brothers, Leroy and Jim Ketchmark; and one sister, Julia Schmeits.
