LOUDON - Donald E. Duff, 60, of Chestnut Circle, died at his home Thursday. He was born in New Bedford, Mass., the son of Ernest and Flora (Boyer) Duff, and he attended local schools. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Perkins. He was a member of the Admiral's Readiness Operations Team. He moved to New Hampshire in 1970 and began working at Energy North Propane in Concord in 1977. At the time of his retirement in 2002, he was vice president of operations and had worked at Energy North Propane for 25 years. He was a member and director of the Propane Gas Association of New England and was a member of the group's emergency response committee. He was also a member of the New Hampshire Heating Systems Certification Advisory Board; an advisor to the state Division of Fire Standards and Training; an instructor for the national Propane Gas Association's Certified Employee Training Program; a member of the Propane Education and Research Council's propane energy program; and a well-known volunteer instructor for many New England fire departments. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hot air ballooning, reading and traveling. He is survived by his mother, Flora (Boyer) Duff of Acushnet, Mass.; his wife of nine years, Tricia (Quinn) Duff of Loudon; a daughter, Shannon Young of Bradford; three sons, Derek Duff of San Francisco and Nicholas Perry and Christopher Perry, both of Concord; two granddaughters; two brothers, Robert Duff of Fairhaven, Mass., and David Duff of New Bedford, Mass.; a sister, Vivian Bischel of Bexely, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his two beloved dogs, Claude Monet and Bonnie Mae. Visiting hours will be held today from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Marcy Church, 170 Loudon Road, Concord. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen. EL CAJON, Calif. - Elizabeth M. Lyman, 86, formerly of Wilmot, died Monday at Sun Bridge Rehabilitation Center in El Cajon, Calif. She was born in Dover, N.J., the daughter of Eugene and Lena (Rice) Green. She attended Colby Academy in New London. She worked for Homan's Florist and Kearsarge Telephone Co. She was a member of Martha Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Whitcomb of El Cajon, Calif.; two grandsons, Donald Whitcomb of Marietta, Ga., and Timothy Whitcomb of Winchester, Calif.; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the 351 E. Bradley Ave. in El Cajon, Calif. Burial will be held in the spring at Elkins Cemetery in Elkins. PETERBOROUGH - James G. Fisk, 89, died Sunday at Monadnock Community Hospital. He was born in Bovina, N.Y., the son of Earl and Amy (Redmond) Fisk. He lived in California, Michigan and Colorado before moving to Peterborough 25 years ago. Fisk worked as a manufacturer's representative for manufacturers of heavy equipment, retiring from McCarthy-Sherman in Denver and Tisco Corp. He later worked for Jellison Funeral Home. He was a member of the Union Congregational Church. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Altemont Lodge in Peterborough. Survivors include his wife, Jean (Forbes) Fisk of Peterborough; two daughters, Jennifer Fletcher of Bow and Ann Harper of San Diego; two sisters, Lara Fisk of Delhi, N.Y., and Martha Campbell of Andes, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and three-great-grandchildren. A son, James Fisk; and a daughter, Donna Fisk, died previously. Calling hours will not be held. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Union Congregational Church, Concord Street, Peterborough. Burial will be held in the spring at Pine Hill Cemetery in Peterborough. Thomas Wistar Jr., NEW LONDON

NEW LONDON - Thomas Wistar Jr., 94, of Woodcrest Village, died Wednesday at his home. He was born in Philadelphia, the son of Thomas and Mary (Starin) Wistar. He graduated from Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia and Haverford College in 1930, where he was an avid cricket player, serving as captain of the team, and a member of the Triangle Society. He also graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Architecture. He lived in Philadelphia before moving to New London in 1987 and to Woodcrest Village in 1998. He summered in New London and moved to "Merryfield" on Knights Hill, which he designed in 1949. He lived in New London from 1947 to 1950 at "Appletree Cottage." He served with the Navy during World War II and was assigned to the Naval Board of Inspection and Survey, which was responsible for all the fighting ships being built in naval yards on the East Coast. Wistar worked as an architect for residential and commercial properties and worked for the National Park Service Division of Design and Research. He later worked in private practice as a residential architect in New London. He was active with St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in New London and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He served on many community projects in New London, where he served as chairman of New London Hospital Day; served as past president of the Indian Rights Association in Philadelphia; served as past president of the New London Boy's Club, where he was an active members since its establishment by his father-in-law in 1930; was one of the founders of the Wyck Association in Philadelphia, where he also served as president and on the board of the friends; and was a founder of the C.C. Morris Cricket Library at Haverford College. He was awarded the Wyck Award for many years of service and the Haverford College's Alumni Award. He served on the committee of United World Federalists, Philadelphia Chapter. He enjoyed watercolor painting and charcoal portrait drawings. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Little of Montreal and Caroline Wistar of Philadelphia; a sister, Eleanor Crampton of Philadelphia; and a grandson. His wife, Elizabeth (Beall) Wistar, died in 1998. Services will be held privately at Woodcrest Village. LACONIA - Steven R. Michael, 47, of Orange Court died Sunday at the Lakes Region General Hospital. He was born in Mobile, Ala., the son of William and Ruth (Croft) Michael. He was raised in Salisbury and Weare and lived in Laconia for many years. Michael was employed in the construction trade and by Lakes Region Construction. He enjoyed rock 'n' roll music. Survivors include a son, Jeremy Michael of Tilton; two daughters, Melanie Michael of Tilton and Krystal Chevallier of Lochmere; eight brothers, Gerald Michael of Weare, Gregory Michael of Concord, Richard Fegal, George Fegal and Michael Fegal, all of Ohio, David Michael of California, Walter Michael of Florida and Edward Michael of Alabama; a granddaughter; and nieces and nephews. A son, Patrick Michael, died in 1997; and two brothers, William Michael Jr. and Jack Michael, died previously. Calling hours will not be held. Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Samantha Persson and Rebekah Persson, both of Sanbornton; grandparents, Sterling and Beverly Blackey of Northfield and Thomas and Sandra Persson of Danvers, Mass.; great-grandparents, Anna Persson of Danvers, Mass.; an aunt and two uncles; and many great-aunts and uncles. HOOKSETT - Dolores M. Cranson, 76, died Sunday at the Hospice House in Concord. She was born in Chicago, the daughter of Carl and Helen (Tierney) Stevenson. She worked as an office manager for many years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Manchester. Cranson enjoyed traveling and shopping. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Elbert Cranson of Hooksett; a daughter, Sandra Mattson of Franklin; a brother, Warren Stevenson of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Katherine E. Schneider, 82, of Concord died yesterday at home. She was born in Concord, the daughter of George and Ella (Fisher) Schneider. She graduated from Concord High School in 1937. Schneider worked for the Merrimack Farmers Exchange and as secretary for the New Hampshire Odd Fellows Lodge. She also worked for the Office of Price Administration during World War II, the U.S. Military Intelligence office, the Civil Aeroronics Administration, as a secretary for Coca Cola, for Richard D. Brew Co., the Federal Highway administration, the U. S. Federal Court and later the U. S. Attorney's office. She was a member of the South Congregational Church, where she was a member of the Madisses Circle, the Relief Society and the church council. She was a member of the Buntin-Rumford-Webster Chapter DAR, the Sports Car Club of New Hampshire and the Baboosic Lake Association. Survivors include a sister, Shirley Schneider of Concord; two nieces, Cynthia Morgan and Karen Morgan; and two nephews, Thomas Morgan and Brian Morgan. A brother, Gordon Schneider, died in 1999; and a sister, Marjorie Morgan, died in 1990. NORTH SUTTON - Mary Palmer Prince, 84, of Route 114 died yesterday at the Clough Center in New London. She was born in Wilmington, N.C., the daughter of McCulloch and Alma Kate (Peschau) Wilson. She lived in Easton, Pa., for 16 years before moving to Lexington, Mass. She lived in North Sutton before moving to the Clough Center in New London, where she lived for the past two years. Prince worked as a licensed practioner nurse, training at the Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital in Washington, D.C., and worked at the Lahey Clinic in Boston and the New London Hospital from 1974 to 1980. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New London and PEO. She enjoyed her flower garden, needlepoint, bridge and golf. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Roy Prince of North Sutton; two sons, Douglas Prince of Sutton and Alan Prince of Queensbury, N.Y.; a brother, McCulloch Wilson Jr. of Wilmington, N.C.; a half-sister, Budd Hodgin of Sumter, S.C.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of New London. The Rev. Richard Dutton, pastor, will officiate. Howe worked as a logger for Carlton Van Cleave Co. in Camden, Tenn., for many years. Survivors include his mother of Pittsfield; his wife of 26 years, Alberta (French) Howe of Camden, Tenn.; a son, Randall Howe Jr. of Manchester; two daughters, Jennifer Howe and Jessica Howe, both of Camden, Tenn.; two brothers, Larry Howe of Exeter and Linda Howe of Lee; a sister, Cindy Garnett of Windsor; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
