Celia Viola Nelson, 93, died Wednesday at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Concord.
She was born in Middletown, Conn., the daughter of Antonio and Modestina Viola.
Survivors include her son, Russell Nelson Jr. of Concord; two brothers, Julius Viola and Charles Viola, both of Providence, R.I.; a sister, Anna Faramonico of Providence, R.I.; and a granddaughter, Sara Nelson.
She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Nelson Sr. in 1995.
There are no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrowat 1 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord.

Walter Brown, BOW

BOW - Walter Brown, 86, died Monday at Pleasant View Center Eldercare, Concord.
He was born in Manchester, the son of Winfield and Grace (Ritchie) Brown.
He was an industrial engineer for Malden Mills in Lowell, Mass., for several years.
He was a former member of and president of the Bow Bog Meetinghouse Association.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Marion (Young) Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Melanson) Brown of Bow; four sons, Walter Brown of Merrimack, Douglas Brown of Culver City, Calif., Dennis Brown of Hastings, Minn., and Kimball Brown of Merced, Calif.; a daughter, Judith Johnson of Concord; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Winfield Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. Pastor Bud Woodward will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Jefferson E. Thornton, ANDOVER

ANDOVER - Jefferson E. Thornton, 74, of Cilleyville Road, died Wednesday at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
He was born in Knox City, Texas, son of Thomas and Vera (St. Clair) Thornton.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
He worked as an accountant for various engineering firms for many years.
He previously lived in Taiwan, Puerto Rico, Oklahoma and many other locations in the United States, due to his work.
After retiring in 1989, he and his wife lived in Georges Mills until moving to Andover last year.
He had worked part time for MacKenna's Restaurant, New London, for the past eight years.
He enjoyed working with livestock, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his father of Mineral Springs, Texas, he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Thelma (Dowdy) Thornton of Andover; a daughter, Karen Thornton of Andover; a son, Larry Thornton of Asheville, N.C.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Billiejoe Caster of Chesterland, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chadwick Funeral Home, 174 Main St., New London.
Funeral services will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Wayne McDonald, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Sunapee, will officiate. Committal services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.

Abbie Sullivan

Abbie Sullivan, 99, of Pleasant Street, died yesterday at the Genesis Eldercare Nursing Home.
She was born in County Kerry, Ireland, daughter of Daniel and Nora (Healey) Sullivan.
She lived in New York for most of her life, moving to Concord four years ago.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Michael Sullivan, Patrick Sullivan and Daniel Sullivan; and three sisters, Margaret Hunt Duffy, Mary Sullivan and Nora Markey.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Maureen Tully of Bow.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, 135 N. State St., Concord. The Rev. Mitchell Wanat, pastor, will be the celebrant.
Spring burial will be in Evans Cemetery, Bow.
Belva Clapp

Belva Carll Clapp, 91, died Tuesday at the Havenwood Heritage Heights Nursing Home in Concord after a long illness.
She had moved to Havenwood from Pittsburgh, Pa., about eight years ago to be near her older sister, Crete Tracy, who survives her as a resident of Pleasant View Nursing Home.
She was born in Waterboro, Maine, the youngest daughter of Jason Carll and Annie Libby.
She graduated from Bates College in 1928, and began a career in teaching. In 1933, she left teaching and entered an accounting and bookkeeping school in Boston. After graduation, she spent 22 years working as a cashier for a Boston insurance agency.
In 1936, she married Kenneth Clapp, and they lived in Boston until 1955, when Kenneth Clapp joined Gulf Oil in Pittsburgh, Pa., as manager of the Gulf Tour Guide Bureau. She then became a full-time housewife, with avid interests in gardening, bridge, and arts and crafts.
The Clapps traveled extensively in North America and Mexico.
They had no children.
She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth.
She is survived by Crete Tracy's children, Gloria Cassaboon and Carll Tracy, both of Laconia.
It was her request that there be no flowers, no memorial service and an immediate cremation.

Minnie Jewett, PENACOOK

PENACOOK - Minnie "Mitzie" Jewett, 69, of Broadcove Drive, died Tuesday at home.
She was born in Sutton, the daughter of Robert and Estelle (Morrow) Partridge. She lived in the Penacook-Concord area for most of her life.
She did telephone referral service for 12 years with the Concord Community Services Help Line. While working at Help Line, she organized Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and baskets. She had previously worked for several electronic services in Concord.
She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, where she served as a eucharistic minister. She was commissioned a Stephen minister, and became a Stephen minister leader.
She was a Concord Hospital volunteer, a member of the Riverhill Grange 346 and she belonged to the State and National Granges. She was a notary public and a justice of the peace.
She was predeceased by a sister, Sarahjane Mullins.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Vernon Jewett of Penacook; three sons, V. Robert Jewett of Concord, Gregory Jewett of Portsmouth, Va., and Steven Jewett of Fort Belvoir, Va.; a daughter, Linda Poupore of Howard, Hawaii; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Fish of Williston, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Boutwell & Hussey-Wiren Funeral Home, 190 N. Main St., Concord.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church. Spring burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery, Webster.
Thaddeus J. Malette, BELMONT

BELMONT - Thaddeus J. "Buck" Malette, 63, of Horne Road, died Wednesday at the Lakes Region General Hospital.
He was born in Brushton, N.Y., the son of Adolphus and Lillian (Stone) Malette. He spent his younger years in Brushton, N.Y., where he attended local schools. He had lived in the Lakes Region for the past 35 years, coming from Vermont.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his service, in 1956, he helped build the Eisenhower Locks at the St. Lawrence Seaway.
He owned and operated the Malette Construction Company for 35 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 1670, the NRA, the Aircrafts Owners & Pilots Association and the Belknap Sportsmen's Club.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was predeceased by a son, Craig Malette; four brothers, Melvin Malette, Carlton Malette, Camille Malette and Eugene Malette; and a sister, Betty Robideau.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara (Harte) Malette of Belmont; two sons, Robert Malette of Colorado and Gary Malette of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two daughters Deborah Sanville of Laconia and Tamorah Asvaraksh of Amherst; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Doris Curtin of East Rochester, N.Y., and Cecilia Helbig of Penn Yan, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.

Joseph D. Janowicz, ALLENSTOWN

ALLENSTOWN - Joseph D. Janowicz, 27, formerly of Tyngsboro, Mass., died Wednesday at home after an unexpected illness.
He was born in Lowell, Mass., attended St. Patrick Grammar School and graduated from Greater Lowell Regional Vocational High School. He later attended Electronic Technical School.
He worked for Brox Construction and Motorola Technologies, and later for the New Hampshire Department of Corrections at the men's prison in Concord and the secure psychiatric unit.
He was a member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks, BPOE No. 87.
He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Catherine Janowicz of Tyngsboro, Mass.; his wife, Linda (Mowry) Janowicz; four children; Andrew Janowicz of Londonderry, Whitney Burton, Alexis Burton and Jeffrey Gage, all of Allenstown; eight siblings, Margaret Childs of Lowell, Mass., Joanne Burns of Pepperell, Mass., John Janowicz of Lowell, Mass., Dennis Janowicz of Dracut, Mass., Mary Casasnovas of Lowell, Mass., Donna Tracy of Petaluma, Calif., Diane Janowicz of Lowell, Mass., and Denise Mindes of Lowell, Mass.; his birth mother, Mary Kennedy of Lowell, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held Monday at 8 a.m. in the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland St., Lowell, Mass. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, followed by prayers at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Spring burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
