Marion H. Madisen of Concord died Thursday at Presidential Oaks in Concord after a long illness. She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the daughter of William and Catherine (Ward) Hurley. She lived in Concord for many years. She graduated from St. Patrick's Girls School in Halifax and the New Hampshire State Hospital School of Nursing and was affiliated with Yale School of Nursing. Madisen worked as a supervising nurse for many years and was assistant to the director of nursing at New Hampshire Hospital before retiring. She was a member of the New Hampshire State Nurses' Association, the Alumni Association of New Hampshire Hospital School of Nursing and AARP; was a past member of the American Nurses' Association; and was a charter member of the State Employees Association. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Concord. Survivors include nieces and nephews, including Joan Cimikoski of Concord. Her husband, Arthur Madisen, died in 1967; and many siblings also died previously. Calling hours will not be held. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Concord. The Rev. George Desjardins will be celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Concord. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 S. MANCHESTER - Sr. Germaine Pelletier (Sr. Annonciade of the Presentation of Mary), 78, of Mammoth Road died Friday at her home after a short illness. She was born in Manchester, the daughter of Aime and Valeria (Benoit) Pelletier. She entered the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in 1944 and made her first Profession in 1946 and her final Profession in 1951. Pelletier spent her entire religious life in community service and served in Holyoke, Mass., Hudson, Nashua, Concord, Manchester, Berlin, Keene, New Ipswich, Woonsocket, R.I., West Warwick, R.I., and Coventry, R.I. Survivors include two brothers, Rosaire Pelletier of Pembroke and Florian Pelletier of Holly Hill, Fla.; three sisters, Clara Flamand of Allandale, Fla., Marie Fournier of Glenwood, Fla., and Aline Burke of Westfield, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours were held Sunday at the Ressurection Chapel of the St. Marie Residence in Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated yesterday at the chapel. Burial followed in Presentation of Mary Cemetery in Hudson. Lambert Funeral Home in Manchester is in charge of the arrangements.

Sylvia J. Brown, 70, of Concord died Saturday at Pleasant View Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born in Concord, the daughter of George and Marie (Lamarche) Ruddy. She was a graduate of St. John's High School. Survivors include a sister, Bernice Ruddy of Concord; two brothers, George Ruddy of Concord and Ernest Ruddy of Plaistow; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, John Brown, died in 1985. Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Bennett Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Penacook - Kathryn G. Norris, 91, of Penacook died Saturday at Hospice House in Concord. She was born in 1912 in Melrose, Mass., the daughter of Rufus and Marion (Hatch) Peck. She was a retired legal secretary. She was a member of the South Congregational Church in Concord and the American Red Cross. Survivors include a daughter, Marcia Stickney of Bow; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. A son, David Norris, died previously. GREENSBORO, N.C. - James "Jim" Jennis, 55, died Thursday at Moses Cone Hospital. He was born in Rochester, N.Y., the son of Michael and Mary "Molly" (Hibbard) Jennis, and grew up in Syracuse, N.Y. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. After he completed his career in the Air Force, he attended Le Moyne College in Syracuse, N.Y., and then worked for the office of the inspector general of the Veterans Administration in Bedford, Mass. After moving to Greensboro, N.C., he worked for the office of inspector general in the HUD office. While in New York, he was involved with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as the state commander. He was an avid golfer and liked spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Joy Mulcahy of Greensboro, N.C., and of Center Barnstead; two brothers, Michael Jennis of Syracuse, N.Y., and Tim Jennis of New Port Richie, Fla.; an uncle, John Jennis of Lakeland, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St., Concord. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 S. Main St., Concord. Burial will follow in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. PEMBROKE - Cecile (Riopel) Plante, 89, died Sunday at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in Manchester. She was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Oscar and Agnes (Lapitre) Riopel. She moved to the United States when she was 9 and spent the rest of her life in the Pembroke-Allenstown area. She was a longtime resident of Pleasant Street in Pembroke. She worked for Suncook Mills before retiring. Plante was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the St. Theresa Rosebush Society. Survivors include a son, Paul Plante of Pembroke; four daughters, Suzanne Cantara of Allenstown, Gertrude Leone of Lodi, N.J., Irene Martel of Chula Vista, Calif., and Muriel Papoutsy of Rye; a brother, Gerard Riopel of Quebec, Canada; a sister, Bernadette Riopel of Manchester; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Her husband, Antonio Plante, died in 1986. Calling hours will be held today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke. The Ladies of St. Anne and the St. Theresa Rosebush Society will hold a prayer service during calling hours at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. LOUDON - Norman Leland Maynard, 84, died yesterday at Havenwood Nursing Home in Concord. He was born in Loudon, the son of Roy and Bessie (Virgin) Maynard. He served in the U.S. Army. Maynard worked as a machinist for R.E. Brew in Concord. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise (Smith) Maynard of Loudon; a daughter, Beverlyann Maynard of Wareham, Mass.; two grandchildren, Stephen Rouse of Johnston, R.I., and Dean Rouse of Massachusetts; a great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. HILLSBORO - Jane L. Eckers, 55, died Wednesday at home. She was born in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Marshal and Lorraine (Meyer) Barnes. She lived in Minnesota for many years before moving to Hillsboro in 2002. Eckers worked as an elementary school teacher for 33 years. She worked in Mound, Minn., before retiring. Survivors include her mother of Hillsboro; her husband of 33 years, Curtis Eckers of Hillsboro; a son, Christopher Eckers of Agawam, Mass.; a daughter, Laurie Bonier of Wayzata, Minn.; three sisters, Ann Smith of Grand Forks, N.D., Kay Bennett of Agawam, Mass., and Lynn Green of Morgan, Minn.; and two half-sisters, Bonnie McCarthy of Ludlow, Mass., and Susan Lever of Springfield, Mass. Memorial services will be held July 5 at 11 a.m. at Hillsboro Center Congregational Church in Hillsboro. The Rev. James Marvin will officiate. Burial will be held at Hillsboro Center Cemetery. BELMONT - Charles L. Alexander, 76, of Province Road died yesterday at home after a long illness. He was born in Jefferson, the son of Fred and Margaret (Berry) Alexander. He lived in Belmont for most of his life. He served in the Navy during World War II. Alexander worked at Laconia Malleable Iron Co. for 47 years before retiring. He also worked as a custodian for the Inter Lake School System for several years. He enjoyed tending his garden and going to yard sales. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Florence (Dame) Alexander of Belmont; a son, Ralph Alexander of Lakeport; a daughter, Brenda Fendley of Belmont; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
