BOSCAWEN - Lawrence H. Blackmer, 90, died Sunday at Havenwood Retirement Home in Concord. He was born in Hardwick, Mass., the son of Clayton and Mary (Bailey) Blackmer. He lived in Boscawen for more than 60 years. He graduated from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture in Amherst, Mass., in 1934. He worked as a poultry inspector for many years and as a laboratory manager for the state Agricultural Department before retiring. Blackmer was a longtime member and officer of the Harold Chase Lodge No. 72 and was a member of the Halloween Grange for more than 65 years. He served as organist for the Horace Church Lodge No. 72 for 18 years and was the organist for the former Penacook Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Barbara (Marshall) Blackmer of Boscawen; a son, Stanton Blackmer of New Jersey; a daughter, Janet Phelps of Vancouver, British Columbia; a brother, Randolph Blackmer of Florida; and a granddaughter. His parents and three siblings, Ruth Stay, Winnifred Mann and Arthur Blackmer, died previously. Calling hours will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home, 42 Washington St., Penacook. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the United Church of Penacook. The Rev. John Westhaver, pastor, and the Rev. EPSOM - Pearl C. Martin, 93, of Suncook Valley Highway, died Saturday at Concord Hospital. She was born in New Hampton, the daughter of Wesley and Anna (Abbott) Fogg. She worked as an accountant for the state for 35 years. Martin was a 50-year member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Concord. Survivors include her husband, Frederick Martin of Epsom; a daughter, Sylvia Larochelle of Florida; two stepdaughters, Carol Stearns of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and June De'Santious of Agawam, Mass.; four step-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord. GOFFSTOWN - Roger F. Coulombe, 76, of Prospect Street and formerly of Epsom, died Monday in Manchester after a short illness. He was born in Manchester, the son of Victorien and Georgiana (Labbe) Coulombe. He lived in Epsom for several years before moving to Goffstown in 1967. He served in the Army in the European Theater during World War II. He worked as a mechanic for Cavanaugh Brothers Motors in Manchester before retiring in 1991. Coulombe was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Jutras Post No. 43 in Manchester. He was an avid outdoorsman. Survivors include his wife, M. Theresa Coulombe of Goffstown; three sons, Richard Coulombe of Georgia, Ronald Coulombe of New Jersey and Edward Coulombe of Goffstown; a daughter, Suzanne Cataldo of Manchester; a sister, Annette Guillemette of Manchester; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A son, Robert Coulombe, died in 1999. Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 S. Mast St., Goffstown. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Manchester. EPSOM - Evelyn L. Judd, 85, died Monday at Epsom Manor in Epsom. She was born in Keene, the daughter of Fred and Margaret (Winchester) Hadley. She attended schools in Keene. Judd was a longtime resident of Keene and lived in Concord for 10 years. She also lived recently in Winchester. She worked for Keene Wood Heel Co. for many years. She enjoyed playing the piano, spending time with her family, knitting and doing jigsaw puzzles and crafts. Survivors include five sons, Fred Judd of Pittsfield, Robert Judd of Keene, Donald Judd of Alaska, Albert Judd of Claremont and Stanley Judd of Palatka, Fla.; six daughters, Shirley Seraiva of Laconia, Margaret Castor of Winchester, Dorothy Hamelin of Scottsdale, Ariz., Barbara Maher of Castleberry, Fla., Beverly Sprague of Bronson, Mich., and Marilyn Lagerberg of Owensville, Mo.; 50 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a niece and two nephews. Her husband, Fred Judd, and a brother, Raymond Hadley, died previously. Calling hours will not be held. CANTERBURY - Marion Wheeler, 85, died Monday at Hospice House in Concord after a long illness. She was born in Concord, the daughter of Robert and Doris (Crosby) Boyce. She lived most of her life in Canterbury. Wheeler and her husband operated the Wheeler Bros. Poultry Farm in Canterbury. She worked a local egg route for more than 30 years. She loved snowmobiling and enjoyed crafts, entertaining and volunteering. Survivors include her daughter, Joan Morrison of Greene, Maine; a sister, Dorothy Hudson of Fruitland, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her husband, Emery Wheeler, died in 1992. Calling hours will not be held. Graveside services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Penacook. D. FRANKLIN - Caroline K. Hottle, 89, died Sunday at the Peabody Home in Franklin. She was born in Allenstown, Pa., the daughter of Raymond and Gouldia Keiper. She graduated from Allenstown (Pa.) High School in 1930 and from Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia in 1932. Hottle lived in Swiftwater, Pa., Philadelphia, Walkersville, Md., and Bethesda, Md., for 17 years. She moved to El Cerrito, Calif., in 1963 and lived in London, England, from 1971 to 1973 and in Mexico City from 1974 to 1976. She retired to Onxard, Calif., in 1976 and lived there for 20 years. She moved to New Hampshire in 1996. She worked as an accountant and personnel director in the Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., areas for many years from the 1930s to the 1950s. She learned Braille in California and volunteered for the blind. She also joined the faculty wives of the University of California at Berkeley. She accompanied her husband on scientific expeditions with the World Health Organization to cities in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America and helped him write descriptive sections of reports on government immunology programs and infectious disease control. She loved to travel and drove across the country many times. She visited every continent, starting with trips to Europe in the 1950s and continuing through her last trips to Chile, the Falkland Islands and Antarctica in 1994. She also enjoyed athletics, playing bridge, knitting and reading. Survivors include a son, Christopher Hottle of Gilmanton; one grandson; two step-grandchildren; and a niece. Her husband of 56 years, George Hottle, died in 1992; and a sister, Margaret Dorn, also died previously. Graveside services will be held privately in the fall at the Grandview Cemetery in Allenstown, Pa. Memorial donations may be made to the Peabody Home, 24 Peabody Place, Franklin 03235-1607.

Dorothy K. Taylor, 85, of Concord, died Sunday at the Hospice House in Concord. She was born in Pittsfield, Mass., the daughter of Raymond and Ethel (Thompson) Kipp. She graduated from Concord High School. She was a lifelong resident of Concord. Taylor worked for New England Telephone Co. She and her husband previously owned Boscawen Mobile Home Park. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Concord. She was a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers. She was an avid reader. Survivors include three sons, Stephen Taylor of Concord, Nathan Taylor of Warner and Dennis Taylor of Freeport, Maine; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Harold Taylor, died in 1975. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Church Street Chapel at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. BOSCAWEN - Alphonse E. Bassett, 81, died Sunday at Genesis-Pleasant View Nursing home after a long illness. He was born in Penacook, the son of Joseph and Leontine (Beaudet) Bassett. He was a lifelong resident of the Penacook area. He graduated from Penacook High School in 1940. Bassett served with the Marines in the Marshall Islands during World War II. He worked at the Brezner Tannery in Penacook for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 31, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the AARP. Survivors include a son, Alan Bassett of Northfield; four daughters, Pamela McKee and Rhonda Bassett, both of Concord, Kellie Cook of Boscawen and Kathleen Bassett of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents, two brothers, Emery Bassett and Joseph Bassett, and a sister, Mandy Blodgett, died previously. Calling hours will not be held. FRANKLIN - Alice Prentice, 54, of Calef Hill Road, died Monday at Concord Hospital. She was born in Belfast, Maine, the daughter of Chester and Charlotte (Hartshorn) Lamphier. She was raised in Belfast, Maine, and lived in Franklin for the past nine years. Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Harold Prentice of Franklin; a daughter, Cora Prentice of Belfast, Maine; a brother, William Lamphier; and several grandchildren. Burial will be held privately at Franklin Cemetery. Thibault-Neun Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of the arrangements.
