Earl R. Castor

BOSCAWEN - Earl Roy Castor, 76, of the Merrimack County Home in Boscawen, died at the Concord Hospice House following a long illness.

He was born in Cambridge, Mass., the son of Philip and Maud (Letteney) Castor. He is a veteran of WWII.

He worked for 20 years at the Woburn (Mass.) Country Club. He has lived in this area for 18 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Hayes) Castor of Concord; a son, Gordon Castor of Lake Park., Ga.; three daughters, Kathleen Haughton of Greensboro, N.C., Janice Thompson of Allenstown and Carol Harless of Concord; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Philip Castor of Somerville, Mass., and George Castor of Rockland, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Loudon Road in Concord, today at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Donations in his memory may be made to the Hospice House, c/o Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, P.O. Box 1797, Concord 03302-1797.

The Perkins Funeral Home in Pittsfield is in charge of arrangements.

David Higgins

MOULTONBORO - David O.C. Higgins, 74, of Lake Shore Road, died Wednesday at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.

He was born in Bartlett and lived most of his life in Concord. He was a graduate of Concord High School and earned a degree in horticulture from the University of New Hampshire in Durham.

He moved to Moultonboro 15 years ago.

He served in the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard, retiring with the rank of colonel.

During his retirement he was an avid horticulturist and enjoyed raising orchids.

He was a member of the New Hampshire Orchid Society.

His wife, Daphine (Saari) Higgins, died in October 1996.

Survivors include three children, Deborah Carlsen of South Paris, Maine, David Higgins of Boston and Diane Constant of Plainfield; nine grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held Feb. 18 at 2:30 p.m. at the Center Harbor Congregational Church. The Rev. Henry Beairsto, interim minister, will officiate.

Spring burial will be in the Village Cemetery in Bartlett.

The Mayhew Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert E. Tepe, CINCINNATI

Saturday, January 30, 1999

CINCINNATI - Robert E. Tepe, 86, father of Hopkinton resident Jerry Tepe, died Jan. 19.

In addition to his son, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie (Lind) Tepe; and two grandsons, Nicholas Tepe and Douglas Tepe.

Donations may be made to Clifton United Methodist Church or Franciscan at West Park in Cincinnati.

Earl L. Wheeler, PENACOOK

Friday, January 29, 1999

PENACOOK - Earl L. Wheeler, of South Main Street, died Wednesday at Hospice House in Concord after a long illness.

He was born in Concord, the son of William and Anna (Plummer) Wheeler. He lived in Bow before moving to Penacook many years ago. He was also a summer resident of Winnisquam.

He was a 1945 graduate of Concord High School, and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.

While living in Bow, he was a member of the Bow Planning Board, a 50-year member of the Bow Men's Club and a life member of the Elks Club. He was also active in the formation of local Boy Scout troops.

He was a florist and greenhouse grower, and he owned and operated Barney's Florist and Green Houses Inc. in Penacook.

He was a hunting safety instructor, and enjoyed traveling, golf and boating.

He was predeceased by a brother, William Wheeler of Bow.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Benson) Wheeler of Penacook; two sons, Richard Wheeler of Vermont and Kevin Wheeler of Penacook; two daughters, Sue Ross of Concord and Karen Crump of Concord; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Janis of California.

Calling hours will be held tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Boutwell, Hussey-Wiren Funeral Home, 190 N. Main St., Concord.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. John Johnson will officiate. Burial will take place after the service in Maple Grove Cemetery, Concord.

Charles P. Johnson, HENNIKER

Friday, January 29, 1999

HENNIKER - Charles "Chip" P. Johnson, 43, of Henniker, died Wednesday at Concord Hospital.

He was born in Concord, the son of Charles and Rita (Dane) Johnson, and moved to Henniker more than 15 years ago.

He was a sales representative for Jordan Equipment Company, Pembroke, and a security guard at the Hopkinton fairs.

He was a 1974 graduate of Hopkinton High School.

He was a past president of the Hopkinton Lions Club and a member of the Henniker Trail Travelers.

He was an avid NASCAR fan, and coached softball and baseball in Henniker for many years.

He was predeceased by his father.

In addition to his mother of Concord, he is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kimberly (McGuire) Johnson of Henniker; a son, Rusty Johnson of Henniker; a daughter, Colleen Johnson of Henniker; a sister, Jill Power of Loudon; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Holt Funeral Home, 3 Hall Ave., Henniker.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Henniker Congregational Church. The Rev. Russ Rowland, pastor, will officiate. Spring burial will be in Henniker New Cemetery.

Natalie E. Nebesky, HAMDEN, Conn.

Friday, January 29, 1999

HAMDEN, Conn. - Natalie E. Nebesky, 81, a former area resident and relative of area residents, died Wednesday at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, Conn., after a short illness.

She was born in Wolfeboro, the daughter of Nathaniel and Mildred (York) Goodhue. She grew up in Wolfeboro, and moved to Hamden, Conn., in 1949.

She was employed by the Hamden, Conn., Board of Education for more than 20 years, working in the audio/visual department of the Ridge Hill School and later at Michael Ehalen Middle School, retiring in 1989.

She was a member of the Grace and St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Hamden, Conn.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane Fenton of Concord and Julie Nebesky of Newington, Conn.; six grandchildren; Haley, Mark, Jacy, Michael, Cory and Jenna all of Concord; and a brother, Dick Goodhue of Wolfeboro.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, Conn. Burial will be at the family's convenience.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 127 Washington Ave., P.O. Box 188, North Haven, Conn., 06473-0188.

Lois A. Simpson

Wednesday, September 22, 1999

Lois A. Simpson, 65, died at Concord Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Concord, the daughter of George and Alice Wright. She worked for the state of New Hampshire for 28 years before retiring as the business administrator for the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an active member of Immanuel Community Church where she sang in the choir.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Simpson; her parents; two brothers, Alfred and George Wright; and a sister, Mildred Maples.

She is survived by two daughters, Sherry Goodwin of Concord, and Brenda Wright and her husband George of Kent, Wash.; three grandchildren, Charles Goodwin of Fort Lewis, Wash., Jamie Goodwin of Concord, and George Wright of McChord AFB; two sisters, Shirley Foley of Brattleboro, Vt., and Jean Barrett of Epsom; a brother, Richard Wright of Concord; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St., followed by a memorial service at Immanuel Community Church, 7 Grover St., at 6:30 p.m., with the Rev. Norm Christopherson officiating.

Michael S. Schwinger

Thursday, September 23, 1999

Michael S. Schwinger, 17, of Ridge Road, died Sunday at his home.

He was born in Utica, N.Y., the son of Robert and Karen (Atkinson) Schwinger.

He was a senior at Summit School in Amherst. He had attended McLachin School in Ontario, Canada, and Mt. Lakes, N.J., schools. He loved the outdoors, marine biology, art and writing poetry.

He is survived by his parents; a brother, Robert Schwinger of New Boston; three sisters, Dr. Debra Kramer of Miami, Fla., Meredith Schwinger of Concord, and Lisa Schwinger of Tampa, Fla.

Memorial services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. David Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the church after the service.

Donations may be made to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church Youth Ministry, 21 Centre St., Concord 03301.

The Bennett Funeral Home, Concord, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen L. Wilke, GOFFSTOWN

Wednesday, September 22, 1999

GOFFSTOWN - Helen L. Wilke, 79, of Village of Glen Falls, died yesterday after a short illness.

She was born in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Ernest and Maude (Fox) Gibson. She had resided in Woburn, Mass., before moving to Goffstown.

She was an avid gardener and a wonderful mother and wife.

She is survived by her husband, John Wilke of Goffstown; a son, Walter Wilke of Sutton, Mass.; three daughters, Barbara Hawthorne of Wimauma, Fla., Catherine Lewis of Nashua,- and Susan Hobbs of Haverhill, Mass.; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two sisters, Dorothea Gibson of Denver, Colo., and Evelyn Hanson of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made to the Congregational Church of Goffstown, 8 Main St., Goffstown 03045.

French and Rising Funeral Home, Goffstown, will be in charge of the arrangements.

Alice A. Lambert, HOOKSETT

Friday, September 24, 1999

HOOKSETT - Alice A. Lambert, 87, of Merrimack Street, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a long illness.

She was born in Wilder, Vt., the daughter of Charles and Alice (Lemay) Bourbeau. Prior to her retirement, she had been the proprietor of Lambert's Market. She was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church.

She is survived by her husband, Gerard Lambert of Hooksett; a daughter, Jeannette Gagne of Hooksett; a son, Gerard Lambert of Epsom; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Hooksett, with the Rev. Fernand Croteau officiating.

Donations may be made to the Tri-Town Ambulance Service, PO Box 219, Suncook 03275.
