VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Peter S. Asby Jr., 43, of Virginia Beach, Va., died Monday at Virginia Beach General Hospital.
He was born in Concord, the son of Marjorie and Peter Asby Sr.
He was a lieutenant commander in the Navy and was stationed at Presinsurv, Little Creek and Norfolk, Va.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lee Anne Asby; two daughters, Sarah Asby and Katherine Asby; a son, Brian Asby; two sisters, Debra Koltookian and Karen Partridge; a brother, William Asby; a grandmother, Irene Martel; and many other relatives.
A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, Naval Air Station, Oceana, Va., by Chaplin Brown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Association of America, New Hampshire Affiliate, 132 Middle St., Manchester 03101.

Evangeline Poling, DEERING

DEERING - Evangeline Poling, 92, of Fisher Road, died Sunday at her home after a long illness.
She was born in Cleveland, the daughter of John and Emma (Haldeman) Klee. She was educated at Willoughby High School, North Central College and Columbia University.
She was a former school teacher in Cleveland.
She had served as a member of the National Board of the Reformed Church of America and was chairman of its scholarship committee. She was also appointed to the National Commission of Depressed Areas and Indian Reservations. She was a conference leader at the 1968 Presidential Prayer Breakfast and was a delegate to the White House Conference for Children and Youth. A former vice president of the National Mother's Committee, she was selected as "The Mother of New York State" in 1976. She was also honored with a special Citation of Honor from the state of New York for her many contributions and was placed in the hall of fame in Albany, N.Y.
She organized the Deering Historical Society and wrote a book titled Welcome Home to Deering about the history of the town. She was also awarded the Outstanding Alumna award.
She was predeceased by her son, Daniel Poling II.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, the Rev. Daniel Poling of Deering; two daughters, Klee Dugan of Deering, and Gene Wood of Andover, Mass.; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Community Church in Deering, with the Rev. Joyce Lovejoy officiating.
Interment will be in the Poling Cemetery in Deering.

William French Jr., GILMANTON

GILMANTON - William "Buzzie" C.S. French Jr., 66, of Route 140, died at home on Monday.
He was born in Chichester, the son of W. Clifton and E. Hope French.
He served in the Army, 82nd Airborne Paratroopers, during the Korean conflict. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He worked as a machinist for Baron Machine Shop for 26 years.
He was a member of the United Church of Gilmanton.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Laura (Page) French of Gilmanton; two sons, Ivo French of Laconia, and Buzzie French of Gilmanton; a daughter, Penny St. Cyr of Gilford; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the family lot in Smith Meetinghouse Cemetery in Gilmanton. The Rev. Linda Bolton, pastor of the Gilmanton Town Ministries, will be officiating.

YORK, Pa. - Canzio M. "Connie" Langione, 78, of York, Pa., and a relative of area residents, died Monday at Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice in Lebanon, Pa.
He was born in Newark, N.J., the son of Canzio and Gertrude (Ricci) Langione.
He served in the Army Air Corps in England during World War II, and received the Purple Heart, five bronze battle stars and a presidential citation.
He is survived by a brother, Arthur Langione of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Anita Hannah of Concord; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, York, Pa.

BOSCAWEN - Sadie J. Constant, 89, of Boscawen, died Sunday at Penny Lane Shared Home.
She was born in Finland, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Ollia) Kupsala.
She was a telephone operator for the state of New Hampshire for many years.
She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Concord Hospital.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Constant; and four brothers, John, Lori, Wayne and William Kupsala.
She is survived by a son, Edward Constant of Concord; a daughter, Anita Johnson of Glendale, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Blossom Hill Cemetery with the Rev. John Johnson officiating.

GILFORD - Catherine A. Hill, 76, of Cottonwood Trail, died Tuesday in Laconia.
She was born in Allenstown, Pa., the daughter of Russell and Hattie (Kirchner) Moore.
She was an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was a member of the church guild. She was also a volunteer at the Lakes Region General Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons, Christopher Hill of Blue Springs, Mo., Stephen Hill of Tulsa, Okla., and Michael Hill of Sorrento, Fla.; three grandchildren, Shawn Hill of Fort Worth, Texas, Christy Hill of Blue Springs, Mo., and Julian Hill of Tulsa, Okla.; and a great-granddaughter.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Parade Road, Laconia, with the Pastor Rob Robb officiating.

EPSOM - Edna DeMeritt, 83, of Route 28, died yesterday at the Epsom Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness.
She was born in Lynn, Mass., and had lived in Northwood for more than 50 years.
She owned and operated Edna's Beauty Shop for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roscoe DeMeritt.
She is survived by a son, Thomas DeMeritt of Northwood; a daughter, Barbara Gray of Los Altos, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the Pinegrove Cemetery in Northwood. The Rev. John Newman, pastor of the South Barnstead Christian Fellowship, will officiate.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - James R. Rhone, 53, formerly of Hopkinton, died Tuesday at his home in Naperville, Ill.
He was born in Huntington, Pa., the son of James Sr. and Betty Lou (Myers) Rhone.
He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Class of 1968, and was recently inducted into the Pennsylvania High School Wrestling Hall of Fame.
He was the president of the Delta Dental Plan of Illinois, and was a past president of the Northeast Delta Dental Plan in Concord. He was also a board member and treasurer of the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium, as well as a board member of the Illinois Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped.
He was a member of the Army, and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion.
He was predeceased by his father, James Rhone Sr.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 29 years, Marian (Brubaker) Rhone of Naperville, Ill.; two children, Matthew Rhone and Christopher Rhone, both of Naperville, Ill.; a grandchild; a brother, Dann Rhone of San Francisco; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held tomorrow from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, Ill. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Nathan Bartel officiating.
Interment will be at Naperville Cemetery, Naperville, Ill.
