SALISBURY - Gail F. (Palumbo) Cluckay, 56, of Hensmith Road, died Sept. 1 in Sutton. She was born in Providence, R.I., the daughter of Frank and Audrey (Cave) Palumbo. She was raised in Cranston, R.I. She graduated from Cranston West High School in 1968 and from the University of New Hampshire in Durham in 1972. She worked teaching at Concord High School for 13 years and was recently the librarian for the town of Salisbury. She served for 13 years on the Merrimack Valley School Board and was a ski instructor at Mt. Sunapee Ski Area. Survivors include her father of Cranston, R.I.; her husband for 29 years, David Clukay of Salisbury; two sons, Christopher Clukay of Concord and R. Benjamin Clukay of Salisbury; a sister, Donna O'Neil of Jamestwon, R.I.; and cousins. Memorial services will be held at a later date. DEERFIELD - Stephen J. Jablonski, 82, of Maple Avenue, died Thursday at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Exeter. He was born in Montague, Mass., the son of Paul and Mary (Trela) Jablonski. He attended schools in Turners Falls, Mass. He was formerly of Turners Falls, Mass., and Montague, Mass., moving to Deerfield in 1999. He served in the Army in the European-African Theater of War, attaining rank of Private First Class. He rescued a comrade and was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry. He worked for the University of Massachusetts in Amherst for 20 years, retiring in 1981. He was a communicant of St. Anne's Church in Turners Fall, Mass. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He was predeceased by his wife, Gabrielle (Parenteau) Jablonski, who died in 2000. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Spindel; a brother, Theodore Jablonski of Turners Falls, Mass.; a sister, Blondena Barden of Winchester; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. GILFORD - Ellen T. (McNulty) LaSala, 70, of Lake Shore Road died Wednesday at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. She was born in Saugus, Mass., the daughter of Anthony and Mary Monica (Duffy) McNulty. She lived in Saugus, Mass., for many years and moved to Gilford six years ago. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Lynn, Mass., in 1949 and from Burdett College in Lynn, Mass. She was a member of the ABC Quilters of Sacred Heart Church in Laconia, the Belknap Quilters Guild and the LakeShore Park Association. She was a former member of the Saugus Historical Society, the Camp Fire Girls and the Greater Nynn Mental Health Retardation Advisory Committee. She enjoyed quilting, ceramics, crafts and antiques. She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Edward McNulty; a sister, June Sayles; and a grandson, Benjamin. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Edward LaSala of Gilford; a son, Ted LaSala of Saugus, Mass.; four daughters, Patricia Valovanie and Ann Saulnier, both of Gilford, Maryellen Hardy of Melrose, Mass., and Suzanne Nestor of Swampscott, Mass.; a brother, Thomas McNulty of Florida; and 10 grandchildren. He worked as a machinist for Pitco Frialator Inc. for 15 years before retiring. He was a former member of the Moose and Elks Lodge. He enjoyed sharing a smile and a story, and he loved helping people. Survivors include three sons, Roy Cox of Epsom, Wayne Cox of Pittsfield and Russell Cox of Barnstead; two daughters, Gloria Jean Millette of Bow and Carolyn Cox of Epsom; a sister, Mary Whiting; 11 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. EPSOM - James W. Findlay Sr., 76, died yesterday at his home. He was born in Wakefield, Mass., the son of James and Carrie (Beeler) Findlay. He served in the U.S. Navy for 36 years and was a master chief of heavy equipment with the Seabees. He served on the USS Varian 793 during World War II and also served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the Corinthian Masonic Lodge No. 82 in Pittsfield, the Scottish Rite Valley of Nashua and the Bektash Temple Shrine of Concord, where he was colonel of the units. He was a member and past patron of Bethany Chapter No. 50 Order of Eastern Star, the Elwood O. Wells American Legion Post No. 112 in Epsom, the Island 1x Seabees in Laconia, and the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association. He was a past commander of the Legion of Honor; a charter member and first president of the Bektash Highlanders; and was the Citizen of the Year in Epsom for 2001. He was predeceased by three sisters, Pauline Dorlando, Elizabeth Barnes and Carrie Smith. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Margaret (Lichtenberg) Findlay of Epsom; a son, James Findlay Jr. of Epsom; two daughters, Barbara Dombrowsky of Gettysburg, Pa., and Susan Wadsworth of Methuen, Mass.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a niece and six nephews. BOW - Charles E. Hale, 78, of Ridgewood Drive, died Sunday at Concord Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Melrose, Mass., the son of Maurice and Marie (Crateau) Hale. He lived in Dover for many years, moving to Concord in 1961. He graduated from Dover High School in 1941 and earned a bachelor's degree in forestry from the University of New Hampshire in 1947. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II as a pilot and flew with the 569th Squadron of the 390th Bombardment Group out of England. He worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Philadelphia on flood projects for two years before being transferred to Portland, Ore., for three years. He worked for the U.S. Department of Interior, Geological Survey in the Boston office for nine years, beginning in 1952, and became chief of the Geological Survey for the New Hampshire office in 1961. He was a hydrologist, retiring from the Geological Survey in 1979. He then worked as a field service engineer for Aerotronic Association in Contoocook for three years and as a civil engineer for the New Hampshire Water Resources Division in Concord for five years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Bow Men's Club and the Bow Pioneer Snowmobile Club for many years. He was predeceased by a son, Gary Hale, who died in 1974; and a brother, Maurice Hale Jr., who died in 1998. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Martha (Bennett) Hale of Bow; two sons, David Hale of Bow and Timothy Hale of Brookline; a sister, Eleanor Murphy of Dover; four grandchildren; a niece and three nephews. John R. "Jack" Gothreau, 83, of Fisherville Road, Concord, died Monday at Concord Hospital. He was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, the son of James and Mary Ellen (McNamara) Gothreau. He lived in Berlin most of his life. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1936 and earned his Eagle Scout badge. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Hawaii, and in the New Hampshire Army National Guard in Berlin for 21 years. He retired as chief warrant officer. He worked at the Brown Paper Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1980 as assistant purchasing agent. He served as a tax assessor for the town of Berlin for many years and was a member of the state Board of Education from 1981 to 1986. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Gothreau, who died in 1990. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jeanne (Roberge) Gothreau of Concord; two sons, Edward Gothreau of Concord and Stephen Gothreau of Mountain Top, Pa.; a sister, Margaret Hansell of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. ALLESNTOWN - Dorothy Mae Martell, 78, died Friday at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton. She was born in Burlington, Vt., the daughter of Victor and Louise (Monniere) Schneider Sr. She graduated from Burlington High School. She lived in Boston and Manchester before living in Allenstown for more than 25 years. She served with the U.S. Navy WAVES during World War II. She worked as a bookkeeper for Vermont Transit in Burlington, Vt., and for Eastern Refrigeration in Manchester for 15 years. She also worked for R.J. Rudnick & Sons in Manchester, retiring after 22 years. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church. She loved children and was known as the neighborhood "grandmother." She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Ernest Villeneuve, who died in 1997. LAKEPORT - Frances M. Eryou, 92, of Dell Avenue, died Sunday at her home after a period of failing health. She was born in Ashland, the daughter of George and Jennie Mae (Russell) Sorrell. She was raised in Ashland and lived in Meredith before moving to Laconia around 1955. She moved to New Hampton in 1975 where she lived for 10 years before moving to Lakeport. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes parish. She enjoyed needlework and made tablecloths and bedspreads. She danced at the Circle 9 Ranch in Epsom when she was younger. She opened her home to many elderly relatives and cared for them. She was predeceased by her husband, William Eryou, who died in 1975. Survivors include many nieces and nephews, including Roxanna Parshley, who lived with her; and many great-nieces and greatnephews. He worked as a heating engineer for Page Belting in Concord and owned Blake's Sugar House in Pembroke. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Concord. He was a member of Corinthian Masonic Lodge in Pittsfield, Horace Chase Masonic Lodge in Penacook, the Scottish Rite Valley of Concord, the Bektash Temple Drum Corps, and IOOF of Concord for 55 years. He was a 44-year member of the Kiwanis Club of Concord and was its past president. He served as lieutenant governor of the New England District twice and was a life member of Kiwanis International, which awarded him the Legion of Honor and the Hixson Award. He was also a member and past president of Bektash Temple Shrine. He enjoyed making maple syrup. He was predeceased by a son, Gary Blake; a daughter, Joyce Blake; a brother, Winston Blake; and two sisters, Louise Ellsworth and Charlotte Hall. SALISBURY - Russell Vernon Benedict, 90, formerly of Franklin Road, died Monday at Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen. He was born in Pawtucket, R.I., the son of Frank and Rose (Mueller) Benedict. He moved to Gorham in the late 1920s and to Salisbury in 1946. He served as a seaman first class with the U.S. Navy, Pacific Fleet, aboard the battleship Missouri from 1944 to 1945 during World War II. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and drove a coach on Mount Washington. He was also a self-employed carpenter and did remodeling and restoration work on the Salisbury Congregational Church. He was a former Salisbury fire chief and member of the Salisbury Supervisors of the Checklist for many years. He was predeceased by two brothers, Earl Benedict, who died in 1964, and Maxwell Benedict, who died in September. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ruth (Holt) Benedict of Salisbury; three sons, David Benedict of Salisbury, Stephen Benedict of Gorham and Robert Sullivan of Pelham; three daughters, Cynthia Underhill of Salisbury, Joy Stacey of York, Maine, and Margaret Bruns of Long Island, Maine; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. EPSOM - Hazel Parsons, 102, died Wednesday at Epsom Manor. She was born in Gilmanton, the daughter of Usher and Addie (Hill) Parsons. She was a lifelong resident of Old Providence Road in Gilmanton until moving to Epsom Manor. She was a member of the Smith Meeting House Church for many years. She was a charter member of the Lower Gilmanton Community Club. She received the Boston Post Gold Cane award in Gilmanton on her 100 birthday. She was an avid reader and enjoyed painting. She was predeceased by a nephew. Survivors include two nephews, Gordon Hall of Manchester and Julian Hall of Brandenton, Fla.; seven grandnieces and grandnephews; and 19 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Calling hours will not be held. Graveside services will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. in Smith Meeting House Cemetery in Gilmanton. Perkins Funeral Home, Pittsfield, is in charge of the arrangements.

HAWLEY, Pa. - Pamela Rae Radomsky, 52, died Monday at Miami Heart Institute in Miami, Fla. She was born in Concord, the daughter of Reginald and June (Whittemore) Follansbee. She was a homemaker. She was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Hemlock Farms Volunteer Fire Co. and Auxiliary. Survivors include her parents of Concord; her husband of 25 years, Michael Radomsky Sr. of Hemlock Farms, Hawley, Pa.; two sons, Joel Speilman of Connecticut and Michael Radomsky Jr. of Hemlock Farms, Hawley, Pa.; two daughters, Ann Turner of Southgate, Ky., and Kelly Derrick of Williamsport, Pa.; many brothers and sisters; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held tomorrow at 4 p.m. in the Church at Hemlock Farms. The Rev. Dr. Robert Duncan Sr. will officiate. LOUDON - Roger A. DeCato, 67, of Chichester Road, died Wednesday at Concord Hospital. He was born in Franklin, the son of Alfred and Lena (Champagne) DeCato. He lived in Loudon for 40 years. He owned and operated DeCato Sand & Gravel and worked as a supervisor for Pike Industries for 18 years. He loved ocean fishing, traveling and visit Foxwoods Casino. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard DeCato Sr. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Evangia (Gerow) DeCato of Loudon; three sons, Eric DeCato of Loudon, Winfred Norton of Fairhaven, Mass., and Roger DeCato of Vermont; two daughters, Lisa Norton of Keene and Lynn Trudeau of Loudon; three sisters, Doris Berwick of Loudon, Arlene Klocek of Candia and Margaret Emmons of Concord; eight grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 3 Church Street Chapel, Concord. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. the funeral home. Burial will be held at the Moore Cemetery in Loudon.
