FAIRLEE, Vt. - Mildred Alice (Higgins) Rhodes, 93, a resident of Fairlee, Vt., died Wednesday at Brookside Nursing Home in Bradford, Vt.
She was born in Bennington, Vt., the daughter of Arthur and Mildred (Daley) Higgins. She attended school in Thetford Center and Post Mills, Vt.
She lived in South Stratford, Vt., and moved to Fairlee, Vt, in 1952.
In her later years she worked as a housekeeper in the Strafford area and also for local summer camps. She was employed by the Fairlee Diner in Fairlee, Vt., and worked as a baby-sitter for many local children.
She was a member of the Fairlee Community Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Jewett Sr., who died in 1952, and her second husband, George Rhodes, who died in 1972. She also was predeceased by a daughter, Valeda Colby; five brothers, Clayton Higgins, George Allen, Wesley Allen, Frank Allen and Raymond Allen; and twin sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Valisa "Pat" Roberts of Fairlee, Vt.; a son, Vernon Jewett Jr. of Concord; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the South Strafford Cemetery. The Rev. Gail Dimick of the Fairlee Community Church will officiate.

Kathryn Harrington, WARNER

WARNER - Kathryn Mae Harrington, 91, died Saturday at Concord Hospital.
She was born in Camden, Maine, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Groves) Sylvester.
She attended school in Camden, Maine, and moved to Warner in 1932.
She was employed as a night telephone operator in Bradford.
She was a charter member of the Massasecum Lake French Park Association. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Baptist Church of Bradford. She also cared for many foster children throughout her years in the area.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carlyle Harrington; a daughter, Elizabeth Harrington, who died in 1961; and two brothers, Edward Sylvester, who died in 1973, and Walter Sylvester, who died in 1943 during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Miranda Harrington of Warner; a sister, Alyne Royal of Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church of Bradford. The Rev. Henry Fleming will officiate.
Burial will be held in the Pond Cemetery in Bradford.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bradford Rescue Squad.

Jeanne L. Fitts, GILFORD

GILFORD - Jeanne L. Fitts, 61, of Liberty Hill Road, died Saturday in the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.
She was born in Laconia, the daughter of Valmore and Diana (Pinette) Blais. She had lived in Gilford since 1967.
Educated in the local school system, she received a degree as a nurse practitioner from Northeastern University in 1976. She had recently retired from Atech Home Health of Laconia. Previously she had been employed by the Laconia State School for 13 years, and later at the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.
She was a member and past president of the N.H. Nurse's Association for the Developmentally Disabled. She had been a volunteer for the Cub Scouts and held leadership roles with the Brownies and Girl Scouts.
She was accomplished in both cross stitching and needlepoint.
She is survived by her husband, Philip G. Fitts of Gilford; a son, Timothy Jon Fitts of Laconia; a daughter, Kimberley Ann Fitts of New Port Richey, Fla; two grandsons, Kyle and Adrian Fitts of Laconia; a sister, Louise Cookman of Manchester; and a nephew.
Calling hours will be in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St., tomorrow from 4 to 9 p.m.
A private funeral will be held at the convenience of the family.

LOUDON - Katie Elizabeth Silva, 10, of Oak Hill Drive, died Thursday at the Concord Hospital.
She was born in Concord, the daughter of Gregory and Carol (Martin) Silva. She had lived in Loudon all her life.
She was a fifth-grade student at Loudon Elementary School. She was active in the Merrimack Valley Soccer Club and the Loudon Youth Athletic Association.
She is survived by her parents, both of Loudon; maternal grandparents, Walter and Lorraine Locke of Andover; paternal grandparents, Kate and George Giffin of Campton and John and Pamela Silva of Sanbornton; three aunts, Donna Crawford of Hazel Park, Mich., Judi LaClair of Beverly, Mass, and Kristine Sopher of Amherst; an uncle, Robert Martin of Wells, Maine; and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 4 Park St., Concord. The Rev. Hayes Junkin will officiate.
Friends and community members are invited to contribute stories, poems and memories celebrating Katie's life. A book of remembrances will be created.

SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. - Laura S. Corriveau, 91, of Smyrna Beach, Fla, died Friday at her home.
She was born in Laconia, the daughter of Paul and Alice (Sanchagrin) Morin.
She attended Laconia schools and graduated from the Villa Augustina in Goffstown. She had been a resident of New Smyrna Beach for more than 20 years and spent summers in Amherst. She and her husband owned and operated Earl's Diner for more than 20 years and the White Owl Cabin Colony & Restaurant on Weir Blvd. for five years. She then worked for the Laconia Water Department for nearly 10 years.
She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling and being with people. She excelled at painting, both on canvas and on china, quilting and sewing. She also enjoyed playing cards with her many friends.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Corriveau of Hudson and Earl Corriveau of Merrimack; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Earl Corriveau, in 1982; three brothers, Albert Morin and Donat Morin, both of Laconia, and Raymond Morin ; and a sister, Vera Roulx of Meredith.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St., Laconia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Ruby A. Webber, BOSCAWEN

BOSCAWEN - Ruby A. (Williams) Webber, 97, a resident of the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen, died Sept. 11 at the nursing home.
She was born in Groton, Vt., the daughter of Adrian and Grace (Prescott) Williams. She grew up in Meredith, and moved to Saxonville, Mass., for eight years before returning to Meredith in 1929. She lived in New Hampton for 35 years before moving to Franklin in 1962.
As a teenager during World War I, she worked in an ammunitions factory in Oxbridge, Mass. She worked at the New Hampton School for many years. From 1952 to 1962, she worked for the U.S. Postal Service at the New Hampton Post Office.
She was a Gold Star Mother, a 50-year member and past officer of the Order of the Eastern Star in Bristol, a long-time member and past president of the New Hampton Woman's Club and a past Master of the New Hampton Grange.
She was a former member of the Community Church in New Hampton. She was a current member of the Baptist Church of Franklin and the American Baptist Women.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Webber, who died in 1982, and two sons, William Morrissey, who died in 1945, and Robert Morrissey, who died in 1995.
She is survived by a daughter, Helen Brown of Edgewater, Fla.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Following her wishes, there will be no calling hours and no funeral service. A private burial will be held in Village Cemetery in Meredith.

Francis H. Albert, WEARE

WEARE - Francis H. Albert, 42, died Friday after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born in Springfield, Mass., the son of Francis and June (Haridman) Albert. He was a graduate of Suffield High School in Connecticut.
He was an aircraft mechanic and served as a U.S. Coast Guard search and rescue air crewman in Cape May, N.J. He also served as a New Hampshire Army National Guardsman.
He serviced aircraft for the Army National Guard in Concord until last November.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church.
He was an experienced fisherman and enjoyed family life.
In addition to his parents of Suffield, Conn., he is survived by his wife, Susan (Dadoly) Albert; a daughter, Christa Albert; a stepdaughter, Shayna Dadoly; a stepson, Erin Vaillancourt; and a sister, Charlene Albert of San Jose, Calif.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Hopkinton.
The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
Lillian Zirpolo, LACONIA

LACONIA - Lillian (Morante) Zirpolo, 102, died Sunday at St. Francis Home in Laconia.
She was born in Boston, the daughter of Vita and Rose (Tranfaglia) Morante. She attended Mount St. Joseph Academy in Brighton, Mass.
After marrying the late James Zirpolo, she worked for William Filene's Sons Co. in Boston and Belmont, Mass.
Before retiring to New Hampshire, she lived in Lexington, Mass., and was a communicant of and choir member for St. Bridget's Church. She also was a member of the town's Young at Heart Singers.
She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn McDonald of Center Harbor and Loretta Winn of Gilford; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington St., Lakeport. The Rev. Victor Gaboury will officiate. Burial will be in Middle Neck Cemetery in Moultonboro.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Francis Home activity fund, 406 Court St., Laconia 03246.

Cynthia P. (Perry) McLoy, 80, died Friday at her home.
She was born in Concord, the daughter of Cleon and Gladys (Haskell) Perry. She lived in York Beach, Maine, for many years before returning to Concord in 1998.
She was a graduate of Concord High School and received her nursing degree from Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing in New York City.
She worked for many years as a registered nurse at Margaret Pillsbury Hospital in Concord.
Survivors include her husband, Edward McLoy; a son, Stephen McLoy of Concord; and two grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery in East Concord.
