SUNCOOK - Shirley L. Perdue, 85, of Glass Street, died Sunday at home. She was born in Manchester, the daughter of F. Wayne and Maybelle (Siddall) Parsons. She lived most of her life in Manchester and lived in Suncook the last six years. She attended Manchester schools. She worked as a shoe stitcher for the former J.F. McElwain Shoe Co. for 30 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Manchester and the Ladies Aid Society. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Perdue; and two brothers, John Parsons and Lawrence Parsons. Survivors include a son, Richard Perdue of Suncook; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cain & Janosz Funeral Home, 74 Brook St., Manchester. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Douglas Rickard, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to TLC Adult Medical Day Care, 211 Loudon Road, Concord 03301.

Nicholas Reynolds Sr., NEW LONDON

NEW LONDON - Nicholas Chester Reynolds Sr. died Monday at the Clough Center, where he lived since January 2000, after a long illness. He was born in Chelsea, Mass., two days after the Great Chelsea Fire. He graduated from Chelsea High School in 1925. He worked as a carpenter. He also built LSTs at the Boston Naval Shipyard during World War II. He formed and operated a construction company on the North Shore, building more than 200 homes in the Boston area. In the 1960s and '70s, he worked on buildings including the Mental Health Center, Boston, and the Hyatt Hotel, Cambridge, Mass., and for the Vappi and Perrini construction companies. He retired in 1976 to Clearwater, Fla., and developed a talent as an artist. In 1986, he moved to New London and Fort Pierce, Fla., where he remained active with building projects and golf. He was a member of the IOOF, Bethesda Lodge. He is predeceased by his wife, Florence, who died in 1986; and a sister, Lucy LeGrow. Survivors include a brother, Bill; four sisters, Ida, Dorcas, Mary and Jenny; a son, Chet Reynolds Jr.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held in the fall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kearsarge Ecumenical Refugee Sponsor Group, 160 Seamans Road, New London 03257.

Robert P. Critchett, CONTOOCOOK

CONTOOCOOK - Robert P. Critchett, 84, died Wednesday at the Harborside Healthcare Westwood in Keene. He was born in Melrose, Mass., the son of Chester and Susie (Delmage) Critchett. He lived in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for three years before moving to Contoocook in 1980. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a machinist for General Electric Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1977. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Ames) Critchett, who died in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Charlene Yale of Hopkinton; and two grandchildren, Jeffery Yale of Hopkinton and Suzanne Yale of Henniker. Calling hours will not be held. Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hopkinton Fire and Rescue Squad, 9 Pine St., Contoocook 03229. Bessie A. MacDonald, LACONIA

LACONIA - Bessie "Betty" A. MacDonald, 79, of County Drive, died Thursday at Lakes Region General Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Laconia, the daughter of Louis and Bessie (Geer) King. She was a lifelong resident of Laconia. She worked in production at Laconia Manufacturing Co. before retiring. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia. She was a gifted knitter and enjoyed making items for her family. She was predeceased by her first husband, Adelard Ouellette; and her second husband, Ernest MacDonald, who died in 1991. Survivors include four stepdaughters, Rosemarie Bastraw of Laconia, Patricia Brunt of Meredith, Janet Stahl of Oklahoma and Yvonne Bristol of Florida; two stepsons, Alfred MacDonald of Oklahoma and Clyde MacDonald of Belmont; many step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Calling hours will not be held. Private graveside services will be held at Bayside Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Frederick L. Altman, GILFORD

GILFORD - Frederick L. Altman, 82, of Edgewater Drive, died Wednesday at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Benjamin and Gertrude (Harrington) Altman. He moved to Inwood, N.Y., in 1919, Rockaway, N.Y., in 1932, Laconia in 1972 and Gilford in 1986. He became a summer resident of Meredith in 1968. He attended the New York City public schools and graduated from Far Rockaway High School in 1934. He also graduated from New York City College and New York University Law School. In 1942, he served as a U.S. Naval Reserve midshipman and was commissioned as an ensign. He was stationed at Norfolk, Va., Orlando, Fla., and Port Hueneme, Calif. In 1943, he was promoted to lieutenant junior grade. He served during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was on staff as a fighter director officer. He was awarded five combat stars and the Bronze Star. In 1948, he was promoted to lieutenant commander. He retired in 1949. He was a former partner of the accounting firm of Smith, Davis and Wills and worked as a senior accountant for Hurdman & Cranstoun. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 1947 and the U.S. Tax Court in 1956. He was certified as a CPA in New Hampshire in 1973 and was the senior partner of Altman & Co. He was a former member of the Congregational Church of Manhasset, N.Y., and was a member of the Congregational Church of Laconia. He was a member of the American Institute of CPA's, the New York State Society of CPA's and the New Hampshire State Society of CPA's. He also was past president of the Laconia Rotary Club and a member of the Laconia County Club and the New Hampshire Senior Golfers. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Altman of Gilford; seven sons, Fred Altman of Croston, Md., Kim Baron of Gilford, Kevin Baron of Hebron, Robin Baron and Jay Baron, both of Ann Arbor, Mich., Kent Baron of Gilford and Chip Baron of Manchester; four daughters, Zalla Galya of Albuquerque, N.M., Kathy Collis of Brookfield, Wis., Jari Ford of Boston and Bethanie McCann of Rye; 22 grandchildren; and two nephews. Calling hours will not be held. Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Laconia Congregational Church, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia. The Rev. Carolyn Keilig, interim associate pastor, will officiate. CONTOOCOOK - Marjorie L. Miller McKenna, 81, died Thursday at Concord Hospital. She was born in Warner, the daughter of Luther and Nellie (Nudd) Bartlett. She lived in Boscawen for four years before moving to Contoocook. She worked as a mail clerk for Rumford Press in Concord for many years, retiring in 1984. She was predeceased by a son, David Miller, who died in 2000. Survivors include four sons, Everett Derry of Missouri, Kenneth Miller and Donald Miller, both of Contoocook, and Benjamin Miller of Concord; three daughters, Nancy Donnelly of Hopkinton, Nellie Chandler of Webster and Lavona Hardy of Suncook; a sister, Winnifred Starkey of Warner; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will not be held. Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Contoocook Village Cemetery, Contoocook. The Rev. Gordon Crouch, pastor of First Congregational Church in Hopkinton, will officiate. The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home in Contoocook is in charge of the arrangements.

Harry C. Cutting Sr.

Harry C. Cutting Sr., 83, of Runnells Road, died Monday at the Hospice House in Concord.
He was born in Concord, the son of William and Ethel (Webster) Cutting Sr.
He worked for 35 years as a purchasing agent and department manager at the Merrimack Farmers Exchange in Concord, until his retirement in 1980.
He served with the United States Army during World War II.
He attended the United Church of Penacook, was a former 4-H leader, and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Cecile (Fournier) Cutting of Concord; one son, Harry Cutting Jr. of Manchester; four daughters, Ethel Furlong of Penacook, Carol Barton of West Bolton, Vt., Eva Cutting of Pittsfield, Mass., and Susan Gay of Plymouth, Mass.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Cutting of Penacook; three sisters, Pauline White of Virginia, Berle Shepard of Concord and Judith Jameson of Canaan; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice House, 250 Pleasant St., Concord 03303 or Open Door Community Kitchen, P.O. Box 6178, 21 Merrimack St., Penacook 03303. Private graveside services will be held in Blossom Hill Cemetery.

Kay E. Davis, DOVER
Wednesday, August 9, 2000
DOVER - Kay E. Davis, 60, of Three Rivers Farm Road died Sunday at her home after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Keene, the daughter of Omer and Sybil (Harper) Croteau.
She was a graduate of Keene High School and University of New Hampshire. She received her masters degree in secondary education from Keene State College and did graduate work in forestry at the University of New Hampshire.
She worked in Concord with the Department of Health and Human Services, where she had been a social worker and a supervisor. She also worked with the Head Start program and was an adjudicator for the State of New Hampshire Disability Determination Service.
She was a communicant of St. Charles Church in Dover.
She was predeceased by her father and a son, Nathan Davis, in 1993.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, John Davis; her mother in East Swanzey; a stepdaughter, Brierly Brown of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a stepson, Brenton Davis of Epping; two step-grandchildren; four brothers, John Croteau of Bedford, Gale Croteau of New Milford, Conn., Scott Croteau of Swanzey and Tom Croteau of Dover; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Bernard's Church in Keene with the Rev. John Hurley officiating. A burial will be after the Mass in St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Squamscott Visiting Nurses, 113 New Rochester Road, Suite No. 4, Dover 03820.

Edward J. Pelczar, TILTON

TILTON - Edward J. Pelczar, 78, of Winter Street, died Monday at the Veterans Home in Tilton after a long illness.
He was born in Chicopee, Mass., the son of Jacob and Caroline (Niemicz) Pelczar.
He was a mechanic for Webster Valve in Franklin.
He served with the United States Army during World War II.
He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Franklin.
He was predeceased by his wife, Naomi (Merklein) Pelczar.
Survivors include two daughters, Caroline Galica of Allenstown and Vanetha Foote of Agawam, Mass.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Lavallee of Chicopee, Mass.
A memorial Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday at St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown, with a burial after at Holy Cross Cemetery in West Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the New Hampshire Veterans Home, P.O. Box 229, Tilton 03276.
The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.

Salvatore Barrile Jr., NORTHFIELD

NORTHFIELD - Salvatore Barrile Jr., 62, of Vine Street, died yesterday at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia after a period of failing health. He was born in Waltham, Mass., the son of Roberta and Salvatore Barrile Sr. He lived in Northfield for five years, moving there from Tilton. He was an oil-burner technician at Irving Oil Inc. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Chenell, who died in 1996. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Gail (Gralton) Barrile of Northfield; three daughters, Melanie Wadleigh and Kelly Cote, both of Northfield, and Kathy Baretto of Massachusetts; a son, Michael Barrile of Massachusetts; nine grandchildren; brothers and sisters, all of Massachusetts; and nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Monday from 10 a.m. to noon at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road, Tilton. Private graveside services will be held in Park Cemetery in Tilton. Herbert F. Baxter III, SEABROOK

SEABROOK - Herbert F. "Cubby" Baxter III, 38, of Janvrin Drive died Thursday at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after a battle with CML leukemia. He was born in Amesbury, Mass., the son of Herbert and Arlene (Harrington) Baxter Jr. He was raised in Newburyport, Mass., and Seabrook and graduated from Winnacunnet High School in 1982. He was employed as a chemist for Lonza Biologies Inc., a pharmaceutical company at the Pease Tradeport in Portsmouth. He was a former Seabrook harbormaster, an avid fisherman, a hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his mother of Sanbornville, he is survived by his wife, Collen (Lennon) Baxter of Seabrook; six children, Jeremy Baxter, Herbert Baxter IV, Dwayne Stoddard, Alannah Baxter, Adrian Baxter and Cheyenne Baxter, all of Seabrook; his maternal grandfather, James Harrington of Amesbury, Mass.; his paternal grandmother, Florence (Dobson) Abesamra of Methuen, Mass.; two brothers, Brian Baxter of Sanbornville and Bradley Baxter of Seabrook; three sisters, Tammi-Jo Baxter of Concord, Robbi-Lyn Baxter of East Kingston and Tara Bishop of Salisbury, Mass.; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Remick and Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Services will be held tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Normand Tourigny Sr., LACONIA

LACONIA - Normand J. Tourigny Sr., 69, of Durkee Street, died yesterday at home. He was born in East Templeton, Mass., the son of Leo and Yvonne (Cournoyer) Tourigny. He moved to Sandwich in 1956 and later to Laconia. He graduated from Holy Rosary School in Gardner, Mass., in 1947 and from Templeton High School in Baldwinville, Mass., in 1951. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War onboard the USS Missouri and later on the USS Iowa. For four years, he worked with his father at the Tourigny Tool and Die shop. He was employed by Tangent Tool and Stamping Inc. for 18 years, retiring in 1997. He also worked for Vernitron and Scott and Williams. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. He joined Troop 68 in 1957 and was the Boy Scout troop leader for 40 years. He also served as committee chairman and served as the assistant Scoutmaster. He was awarded the Scoutmaster Training Award and also the Scoutmaster Key Award. In 1975, he was awarded the Pemi award by the council. In October 1999, he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks No. 876. He was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond Tourigny, Leo Tourigny and Leonard Tourigny. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte (Avery) Tourigny of Laconia; three sons, Thomas Peaslee of Gilmanton, Charles Peaslee of Kissimmee, Fla., and Normand Tourigny Jr. of Sanbornton; two daughters, Linda Plourde of Guilford and Yvonne Taylor of Londonderry; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Tourigny of St. Peters, Mo., and Edmond Tourigny of Florida; and many nephews and nieces. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Laconia. The Rev. Gary Kosmowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. EAST WASHINGTON - Arthur A. Larson, 79, of East Washington died Friday at Concord Hospital. He was born in Bristol, Conn., and was a lifelong resident of that community. He was the son of Lars and Lydia (Bergstrom) Larson. He was the owner and operator of Larson Brothers Vegetable Farm in Bristol, Conn. He retired in 1990 and moved to East Washington. He was a member of the Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 38 F & AM in Hillsboro; Portia-Henocon-Asteria No. 14 Order of the Eastern Star in Hillsboro; Washington Commandery No. 1; Spinx Temple of Newington, Conn.; Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 56 F & AM; Lee Council No. 25 R & SM; Columbia Chapter 31 R.A.M.; Washington Snowriders Association; Washington Congregational Church and Trinity Coventry Church in Plainville, Conn. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annie (Whitney) Larson of East Washington; five sons, Christopher Larson of Escalon, Calif., Ralph Larson of Burlington, Conn., and Stephen Larson, Eric Larson and Evan Larson, all of Bristol, Conn.; a sister, Ruth Sleasman of Portland, Ore., and seven grandchildren. Calling hour will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funks Funeral Home in Bristol, Conn.
