LACONIA - Nancy Graham Rich, 72, of Old Prescott Hill Road died Monday at home. She was born in Bristol, Va., the daughter of Clifford and Pearl (Elliott) Graham. She was a longtime resident of Laconia. She graduated from Laconia High School in 1948 and from the University of New Hampshire, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She worked as a claims representative for Munsey and Brazil Insurance Agency for many years. Rich was a member of the Laconia Congregational Church. Survivors include her husband of more than 50 years, Paul Rich of Laconia; three sons, Paul Rich Jr. of Manchester, Robert Rich of Epsom and Thomas Rich of Laconia; a daughter, Susan Hildreth-Brown of Gilford; a sister, Ann Hood of Laconia; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. in the carriage house of Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Congregational Church of Laconia, Veterans Square. The Rev. Carolyn Keilig, interim associate pastor, will officiate. LACONIA - Joseph E. Levasseur, 47, of Morrill Street died Monday at home. He was born in Manchester, the son of Elie and Alice (Dumoulin) Levasseur. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the town of Gilford. Survivors include his mother of Laconia; two sons, Christian Levasseur and Steven Levasseur, both of Laconia; two nieces; and many cousins. BOISE, Idaho - Walter John Angers Jr. died Oct. 29 at Idaho State Veterans Home in Boise, Idaho, after a battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. He was born in Laconia, the son of Walter and Irma (Labbe) Angers Sr. He graduated as a second lieutenant from the University of New Hampshire in 1941. He moved to Boise, Idaho, in 1968. He served with the U.S. Army in the Southwest Pacific including Java, New Guinea and Australia until 1945. He later served in New York, North Carolina, Colorado, California and Utah, remaining with the Army for 27 years and retiring in 1968. Angers was a past commander and member of the Boise Valley Chapter of the Military Order of World Wars; life member and past commander of the American Legion, Region Post II; life member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; life member of the DAV (Disabled Veterans); and served the Idaho Veterans Assistance League at the Idaho State Veterans Home. He enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Dale Angers; a daughter, Patricia Bulthuis of Gallup, N.M.; two brothers, Carl Anders of Smithville, Texas, and Eddie Anders of Perkinsville, Vt.; a sister, Elaine Fregosi of Concord; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. His parents and siblings Wallace Angers, Clyde Angers, Dorothy Chadwick, Harold Angers, Earl Angers and Raymond Angers died previously. GREENFIELD - Milton H. Morris, 80, of Colonial Drive died Saturday at home. He was born in Meredith, the son of Uzeb and Ethel (Dolloff) Morris. He served in the Army during World War II. He lived in New Jersey for many years before moving to Henniker in 1966. He wintered in Bradenton, Fla. Morris worked as a foreman for the Iron Works Union in New Jersey and later owned and operated Banner Real Estate Co. in Henniker for 25 years. He had a New Hampshire real estate license. Survivors include his wife, Dorothea (Hunt) Morris of Greenfield; a son, Dale Morris of New Brunswick, N.J.; a daughter, Lynn Jane Krawiecki of Greenfield; a brother, Leslie Morris of Meredith; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. PEMBROKE - Walter H. Hayes, 86, of Pembroke Street, died Sunday at Harris Hill Health Care Center in Concord after a long illness. He was born in Winchendon, Mass., the son of John and Elsie (Derby) Hayes. He lived in Concord before moving to Pembroke 50 years ago. He served with the U.S. Army. Hayes worked as a tractor trailer operator for Holmes Transportation for 22 years and for Textron in Suncook. He was a member of the Pembroke Fire Department. He volunteered mowing lawns and plowing driveways. Survivors include a daughter, Madeleine Cunningham of Manchester; a brother, John Hayes of Crystal River, Fla.; and nieces and nephews. His wife, Lucy (Starkey) Hayes, died in 1995. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. at Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke. GILFORD - Robert H. Spear, 72, of Liberty Hill Road, died Thursday at Mid-Coast Hospital in Bath, Maine. He was born in Laconia, the son of Henry and Margaret (Crandall) Spear. He was a lifelong resident of the Lakes Region. Spear worked in the maintenance department for the State of New Hampshire Department of Transportation Division III in Gilford for many years and in the kitchen at St. Paul's School in Concord for five years. Survivors include two brothers, Henry Spear of Beverly Hills, Fla., and Donald Spear of Gilford; three sisters, Mary Lou Goddard of Gilford, Ann Barnard of Thornton and Sara Kosoco of Orlando, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. LACONIA - The Rev. Robert W. Withington, 81, of Edgewater Avenue died yesterday at the St. Francis Home in Laconia. He was born in Adams Center, N.Y., the son of Dwight and Martha (Cooley) Withington. He served as a first lieutenant in the Marine Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y., and the University of the South. Withington lived in Canandaigua, N.Y., before moving to Laconia in 1992. He served as rector of the St. John Episcopal Church in Canandaigua, N.Y., for 17 years before retiring in 1986. He also served as rector of St. John's Church in Marathon, N.Y., Grace Church in Whitney Point, N.Y., Gethsemane Church in Sherrill, N.Y., Trinity Church in Canastota, N.Y., St. Augustine's Church in Ilion, N.Y., and St. Paul's Church in Schenectady, N.Y. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Betty Jane (Heisley) Withington of Laconia; three sons, Mark Wright of Gilford, Paul Wright of Derry and John Withington of New Bern, N.C.; four daughters, Diana Mobley of Medfield, Mass., Joan Wing of Boca Raton, Fla., Karen Mancuso of North Bellmore, N.Y., and Mary Withington of Saratoga, N.Y.; a brother, Lawrence Withington of Watertown, N.Y.; a sister, Betty Gleason of Williamson, N.Y.; and 12 grandchildren. NEW LONDON - Barbara Tovey, 78, of Newport Road, died Saturday at her home. She was born in New York City, the daughter of Otto and Edith (Hausling) Schinnerer. She earned a bachelor's degree in 1945 from Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pa., where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Mass. She attended the Department of Public Law and Government as a University Fellow at Columbia University from 1945 to 1947. She lived in South Hadley, Mass., before living in Hanover for 14 years. She moved to New London in 2001. Tovey worked as an assistant professor in the department of philosophy at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., and as professor of philosophy for the University of New Hampshire for many years. She enjoyed time on Harvey's Lake in Barnet, Vt., and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, her cats, traveling, classical music and opera. Survivors include a son, Peter Tovey of Boston. Her husband, George Tovey, died in 1989. Memorial services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Hilltop House in New London. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the George V. TILTON - Harold B. Oldham, 77, died Thursday at New Hampshire Veterans Home. He was born in Detroit, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Oldham. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II where he served as crewmember of the LCI-G 68. He attended the LaSalle Institute of Law for three years. He was formerly of Dartmouth Street in Laconia and lived in Laconia since 1950. Oldham worked as a chef at Lakes Region General Hospital, King's Grant Inn, St. Pierre's Restaurant, The Playhouse Inn and Ames Farm. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1670, where he served as commander six times; served as Aide De Camp with the National Commander for three years; and was a member of the Wilkins-Smith American Legion Post No. 1, where he served as commander twice. Survivors include thee sons, Scott Edwards of Laconia, Charles Oldham of Tempe, Ariz., and Arthur Chouinard of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Shelley Chisolm of Laconia; a brother, Ernie Davis of North Branch, Mich.; a sister, Ann Davis of Michigan; and seven grandchildren. HOOKSETT - M. Maxine Boyd, 63, died Monday at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack. She was born in Hillsboro, the daughter of Manuel and Mary (Rodrigues) Teixeira. She lived in Hillsboro before moving to Hooksett in 2000. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1956 and Bentley College in 1958. She studied piano with Mildred Porter and at the Sherwood Conservatory of Music. Boyd worked as an insurance agent for Davis and Towle Group for more than 25 years, for SAU No. 34 for five years and for NHMA-PLT for more than five years. She was a member of the St. Mary's Church in Hillsboro, where she served as choir director and organist for more than 50 years. She also served as CCD teacher. She served as an organist for area churches for many years. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, George Boyd of Hooksett; a son, Stephen Boyd of Milford, Mass.; two daughters, Susan Boyd of Manchester and Karen Cardoza of Hollis; a stepson, Michael Boyd of North Easton, Mass.; a brother, Ronald Teixeira of Florida; two sisters, Louise Horvath of Georgetown, Texas, and Catherine Teixeira of Winter Spring, Fla.; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. SALISBURY - Carol Ann Davis, 56, died yesterday at Concord Hospital after a period of failing health. She was born in Watertown, Mass., the daughter of Harold and Eleanor (Mossman) Hill. She graduated from Simons High School. She moved to Salisbury 28 years ago. Davis loved flowers, animals, bingo, feeding wild birds and taking trips to the casino. Survivors include her husband of 37 years, John Davis of Salisbury; three daughters, Barbara Thoits of Contoocook, Cynthia Cilley of Northfield and Karen Marriott of West Winfield, N.Y.; three brothers, Thomas Hill of Warner, James Hill of Laconia and Daniel Hill of Bow; two sisters, Catherine Rizza of Warner and Judy Reid of Sanbornton; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.
