LACONIA - Mrs. Virginia L. Arnold, 77, of 14 Lincoln St., died Saturday at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. Arnold was born in Laconia, the daughter of Myron and Lillian (Bass) Cox. She was a lifelong resident of Laconia. She worked as a nurse at the Laconia Clinic. She enjoyed playing bingo and gardening and was an avid seamstress. Survivors include her husband, Herbert Arnold of Laconia; a son, Daryl Arnold of Laconia; a daughter, Jerilyn O'Hearn of Northfield; two brothers, Clayton Cox of Vero Beach, Fla., and Donald Cox of Belmont; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Union Cemetery in Laconia. The Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home in Laconia is in charge of the arrangements.

Fannie C. Terrill, 93, died Friday at Presidential Oaks in Concord. She was born in Landaff, the daughter of Bert and Fannie (Sanborne) Carleton. She graduated from Concord High School in 1927 and attended the Northern New England School of Religious Education in Northfield, Mass. Terrill was active in local churches and enjoyed singing and playing the organ and piano. She is survived by three sons, Donald Terrill of Palm Harbor, Fla., Dudley Terrill of Bow and L. Sherwin Terrill of Beavercreek, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her husband of 62 years, Reginald Terrill, died previously. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Community Church in Bow. The Rev. Richard Huntley Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Alexander Cemetery on River Road in Bow.

MANCHESTER - Robert E. Thompson, 75, of Manchester, died at the Catholic Medical Center after a brief illness. He born in Manchester, the son of George and Lillian (Norton) Thompson. He was a graduate of Manchester Central High School and was a lifelong resident of Manchester. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Until his retirement, he had been employed as an electrical engineer by Transformer Service Inc. in Concord. He was an active volunteer for the Animal Rescue League. He was a communicant of St. Catherine Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Marian Council. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen (Noga) Thompson of Manchester; a daughter, Valerie Thompson of New Hampton; two sons, Scott Thompson of Goffstown and Mark Thompson of Bow; and five grandchildren. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 4 to 8 p.m. at McHugh Funeral Home, 483 Beech St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine Church. HILLSBORO - Denise L. Balquist, 52, of Hillsboro, died Saturday at her home. She was born in Bellows Falls, Vt., and lived in Manchester before moving to Hillsboro 21/2 years ago. She was the daughter of Oscar and Anna (Sullivan) Wilson. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Robert Balquist Jr. of Hillsboro; two sons, Jaime Garcia and Jesse Garcia, both of Manchester; two daughters, Cynthia McLaughlin and Tara Bennett, both of Haverhill, Mass.; two sisters, Diane Ben-Avram of Boca Raton, Fla., and Susanne Konelas of Holiday, Fla.; two brothers, Gary Wilson of Manchester, Conn., and Bruce Wilson of Manchester; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews. FRANKLIN - Richard C. Fifield, 86, of Baldwin Street, died Thursday at Mountain Ridge Center Genesis Eldercare Network. He was born in Laconia, the son of Charles and Alfredia (Chates) Fifield. Fifield was a lifelong resident of the Laconia/Sanbornton area. Survivors include a brother, Leonard Fifield of Hallandale, Fla.; two sisters, Frances Wheaton of Woburn, Mass., and Alice Shaw of Center Harbor. A brother died previously. GILMANTON - Althea M. Urquhart, 77, died Wednesday at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. She was born in Norwood, Mass., the daughter of Willard and Althea Mae (Clark) Jonah. She graduated from Walpole High School and Fisher Junior School in Boston, Mass. She lived in Walpole, Mass., for 65 years before moving to Gilmanton in 1989. Urquhart worked as the school lunch manager for Walpole schools for 25 years before retiring in 1987. She was a member of Gilmanton Congregational Church. She was a member of the Camp Fire Girls, the Lend-a-Hand Club, N.H. Extension, Smith Meeting House Association, Gilmanton Garden Club and Gilmanton Women's Club. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. Survivors include four sons, Jeffrey Urquhart of Gilmanton, Kenneth Urquhart of New Sweden, Maine, Keith Urquhart of Tampa, Fla., and David Urquhart of West Newfane, Vt.; a daughter, Cynthia Lassey of North Attleboro, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Nelson Urquhart, died in 1992; and a son, Rodrick Urquhart, died in 2001. Calling hours will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the carriage house of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Gilmanton Community Church. The Rev. Linda Bolton, pastor of Gilmanton Town Ministry, will officiate. FORT MYERS, Fla. - John Wilman Day, 88, formerly of Concord, died Wednesday at the Hope Hospice Center in Cape Coral, Fla., after a period of failing health.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Helen (Hurd) Day of Keene, Concord and North Fort Myers, Fla.; three sons, Richard Day of Concord, James Day of Keene and Robert Day of Hemet, Calif.; a daughter, Patricia Roux of Las Vegas; a brother, Merton Day of West Stewartstown; two sisters, Gloria Thompson of Concord and Susette Summers of Troy, Pa.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Beverly C. Goodell
SUNAPEE - Beverly C. Goodell, 65, of Hamel Road, died Friday at her home.
She was born in New London, the daughter of James and Elsie (Robbins) Wells.
She graduated from New London High School and from Claremont Vocational Tech.
Goodell was formerly of Croydon, living in Sunapee for the past 45 years.
She worked as a respiratory therapist for New London Hospital for 15 years and for Alice Peck Day Hospital in Lebanon for the past four years.
Survivors include a son, John Robbins of Antrim; two daughters, Debra Temple of Allenstown and Jill Goodell of Hartland, Vt.; and three grandchildren.
A grandson, Brian Goodell, died in 1997.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Chadwick Funeral Services, 174 Main St., New London.
Burial will be in the spring in Old Main Street Cemetery, New London.

CHINA, Maine - Jacqueline Hatch, of Neck Road, died Thursday at Inland Hospital in Waterville, Maine.
She lived in Gilford for most of her life, moving two years ago.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, William Hatch of China, Maine.

Graveside services will be held privately in the spring in Pine Grove Cemetery in Gilford.

HILLSBORO - Anita Frances Gracey, 72, of Bible Hill Road, died yesterday at the home of her daughter.
She was born in Somerville, Mass., the daughter of Charles and Martha (LeVasseur) Smith.
She attended schools in Somerville, Mass.
She was formerly of Somerville, Mass., Springfield, Mass., and Tampa, Fla., moving to New Hampshire in February to live with her daughter, Charlene Martelli.
Gracey worked as a film processor at 3-M Film Processing Co., retiring in 1992.
She was a member of the Moose Club in Tampa, Fla., and volunteered with the Salvation Army in Florida.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlene Martelli of Hillsboro; four sons, Brian Herra of Deering, John Herra Jr. of Plymouth, Mass., Charles Herra of Worcester, Mass., and William Herra of Thompson, Conn.; two brothers, Francis Smith of Tampa, Fla., and Lawrence Smith of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Theresa Haker of Tampa, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her first husband, John Herra, died in 1974; her second husband, Ronald Gracey, died previously; a daughter, Karen Whalen, died in 1996; a sister, Emily Dias, died in 1999; and a brother, Charles Smith, died in 1990.
Calling hours will not be held.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 32 School St., Hillsboro.

Kenneth Beres
HENNIKER - Kenneth Beres, 80, of Lake Worth, Fla., and Henniker, died Sunday at the Veterans Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Fla., after a long illness.
He was born in Peabody, Mass., the son of Morris and Fannie Beres.
He graduated from Peabody High School, earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California and a master's degree in business administration from Boston University in 1948.
Beres lived in Henniker for more than 40 years.
He was dean of New England College's School of Business Administration in Henniker, where he taught from 1958 to 1988.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Masonic Order.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
His wife, Elenor (Levin) Beres, died previously.
Graveside services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Esquire Drive, Peabody, Mass.

Normand A. Saucier
BOW - Normand A. Saucier, 70, died yesterday at the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association Hospice House in Concord.
He was born in Manchester, the son of Alcide and Rose (Fournier) Saucier.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He earned an associate's degree in electronic engineering from New Hampshire Technical College.
Saucier worked as a television repairman for Cole's TV in Concord for seven years and for Northeast Electronics in Concord for 24 years. He also worked as a consultant for TauTron, General Signal, in Westford, Mass.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Bow Men's Club and the Concord 2 Pistol Team of Elite Shooters.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his mother of Pembroke; his wife of 47 years, Jane (Bourbeau) Saucier of Bow; two sons, Alan Saucier of Enfield Center and Eric Sellar of Bow; two daughters, Deborah Saucier and Jazlynn Saltmarsh, both of Bow; a brother, Edward Saucier of Pembroke; a sister, Lorraine Vallee of Hooksett; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A sister, Jeanne Letendre, died previously.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 52 Pleasant St., Concord.
