Evelyn P. (Schoen) Davis, 87, of Harris Hill Nursing Home died Saturday at the Hospice House in Concord.
She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of Arthur and Bertha (Houck) Schoen. She was a graduate of Bryant and Stratton Business School in Buffalo.
She was married to Harold Davis, a make-up man for the Currier Express Newspaper for 20 years.
After Harold's death in 1980, Davis moved to New Hampshire to live with her only son and his wife, Joel and Sue Davis, and two grandsons, Andrew and Kevin Davis, all of Hopkinton.
Davis lived in Concord for 11/2years, and before that had lived in Hampstead and Salem for eight years before moving to New London for nine years.
She had been employed during World War II by Curtiss Wright Airplane Manufacturing of Buffalo. Besides her son and family, she had one brother, Edward Schoen of Bonita Springs, Fla., who died in 1991, and a surviving sister, Elma Hughes of Newbury, S.C., as well as nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside service will be held on tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Ridge Lawn Cemetery, Cheektowaga, N.Y.

Elaine P. Scalora, ANDOVER

ANDOVER - Elaine P. (Crane) Scalora, 62, of Kearsarge Mountain Road, Potter Place, died Saturday at the New London Hospital.
She was born in Lawrence, Mass., the daughter of Gregory and Adrienne (Pare) Crane.
She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Lawrence, Mass., and from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. She received her master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University. She received her degrees in art education.
For 17 years Scalora had been an art teacher in Branford, Conn., retiring four years ago. She had lived in Potter Place for the past four years, previously residing in Branford, Conn., for many years. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Potter Place.
Scalora enjoyed making stained glass and sewing.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, William Scalora of Potter Place; three sons, William Scalora of Hiram, Ga., Peter Scalora of Uniontown, Pa. and Paul Scalora of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Mary Catherine Ferraro of Orange, Conn., and Amy Wooten of Edgewood, Ky.; six grandchildren; a sister, Maureen Cunningham of Branford, Conn.; two nieces, a nephew, a grandniece and cousins.
Friends may call at the Chadwick Nursing Home, 174 Main St., New London on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Potter Place with the Rev. Richard T. Lower as celebrant.

James F. Leonard, LOUDON

LOUDON - James F. Leonard, 72, of Staniels Road, died Monday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, White River Junction, Vt., after a long illness.
He was born in New Jersey, the son of George and Francis (Stadler) Leonard. He had lived in the Loudon-Concord area since 1955.
He worked for Grappone Ford Inc. for many years, and during the 1950s, he was the owner and operator of O.K. Services in Concord.
He was recently employed at Wal-Mart in Concord.
He served with the Merchant Marines during World War II.
He was a member of the Concord Elks Club.
He was a cat fancier, who enjoyed breeding and showing Siamese cats.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Laura "Babe" (Foss) Leonard of Loudon; two sons, James Leonard of Loudon and Richard Leonard Sr. of Ocala, Fla.; four daughters, Karen McMican of Orlando, Fla., Louise Tolworthy of Pawling, N.Y., Cindy Cobb of Valdosta, Ga., and Donna Leonard-Babin of Warren; a stepson, Bill Philpot of Venice, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Leonard of New Jersey, and William Leonard of Oregon; three sisters, Edna Leonard, Jeannette Salback of Orlando, Fla., and Virginia Foley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held by the Elks Club tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in the Boutwell & Hussey-Wiren Funeral Home, 190 N. Main St., Concord. Calling hours will be held prior to the services from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Katherine E. Ruden, CANTERBURY

CANTERBURY - Katherine "Jeannie" E. Ruden, 72, of Robin Shore Drive, died Monday at Lakes Region General Hospital.
She was born in Boston, the daughter of John and Katherine (McGarry) Harrington. She moved to Canterbury from Malden, Mass., in 1983.
She was an active member of St. Joseph Church, Belmont, where she was a member of the St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society, the music ministry, the arts and crafts group and the bereavement team.
She was a volunteer at Shaker Village in Canterbury.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence "Bill" Ruden of Canterbury; a step-daughter, Ellen Knowles of Seabrook; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. in St. Joseph Church.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in the church. The Rev. Marc Drouin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Canterbury.

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. - Licia Andrea (Wood) O'Conor, a former area resident and relative of area residents, died Monday at home.
She was born in Nashua, and graduated from St. Paul's School, Concord, and Hood College, Frederick, Md.
She worked in the medical field for many years, providing services around the country in a medical van.
She also worked in a doctor's office in Jacksonville, Fla.
She found her true calling working with preschool children and was last employed by Christ Episcopal Church Preschool in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
She was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Jacksonville, Fla.
She enjoyed the beach, walking, the outdoors and children.
She was predeceased by a son, Alexander O'Conor.
In addition to her parents, James and Constance Wood of Bristol, she is survived by her husband, Joseph O'Conor of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Anna O'Conor and Madelyn O'Conor, both of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; two sons, William O'Conor and Casey O'Conor, both of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; and two sisters, Signa Watts of Loudon and Kristin Dunklee of Concord.
A memorial Mass will be held tomorrow in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Jacksonville, Fla. The Rev. William Kelly will officiate.

MEREDITH - Harold Smethurst, 83, of Meredith Brick Manor, died yesterday at the Lakes Region General Hospital.
He was born in Malden, Mass., the son of William and Catherine (Ward) Smethhurst.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a ceramic tile distributor for William Smethhurst & Son.
He was a resident of East Alton for 49 years.
He was a member of Realty Lodge Masons, Boston.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (McDonnell) Smethurst of Meredith and West Alton; two sons, Robert Smethurst of Wilmington, Mass., and Richard Smethurst of Duxbury, Mass.; a daughter E. Jeanne Brodmerkle of Sterling, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Donald A. Ainslie, BRADFORD

BRADFORD - Donald Arthur Ainslie, 64, of Route 114, died Sunday at Hospice House in Concord.
He was born in Boston, the son of James and Clare (French) Ainslie. He was a 1952 graduate of Hyde Park, Mass., High School, and a 1957 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y.
He worked for engineering firms in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
He was a member and past master of St. Peter's Lodge No. 31 F&AM, a member of the Valley of Concord and the New Hampshire Consistory. He was a Scottish Rite, a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Bektash Temple Shrine, Concord.
He was a partner with Robert Stewart at the Stewart Agency for approximately six years, and the Lake Sunapee Board of Realtors chose him as Realtor of the Year in 1977.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Margaret (Keenan) Ainslie of Bradford; and a son, Benjamin Ainslie, who is student at Keene State College.
There are no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in Sunny Plain Cemetery, Bradford. The Rev. Henry Fleming will officiate and Masonic services will be conducted by St. Peter's Lodge.

M. Rae Borror, DURHAM

DURHAM - M. Rae Borror, 63, relative of area residents, died Nov. 19 at home after a long illness.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Richard and Countess Irene (Noe) Roney.
She received a bachelor's degree in nursing from the Ohio State University, and a master's degree in reading and certification in special education from the University of New Hampshire.
She worked as a reading specialist in the Oyster River Middle School for many years.
She served one term as chairperson of the Durham Planning Board, and was once active with the League of Women Voters.
She was a member of the choir at the Community Church of Durham and was an active member of the Sounds of the Seacoast, a women's barbershop chorus.
She shared with her husband a lifelong interest in the field of natural history, and enjoyed trekking off to obscure places with him, searching for birds and other wildlife.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Borror; a daughter, Valerie Madsen of Lee; a son, Donald Borror of Dunbarton; and five grandchildren.
Services were held already.
