ANDOVER - Bertha Evelyn Fenton, 94, died Tuesday at Peabody Home in Franklin. She was born in Dublin, the daughter of Harry and Cora (Knight) Wright. She graduated from Conant High School in Jaffery and Keene Normal School. She lived in Alstead before moving to Andover in 1943. Fenton taught home economics at Pinkerton Academy in Derry. She served as matron of the Merrimack County Home from 1949 to 1952. She was a member of the Andover Congregational Church. She was a former superintendent of Sunday school at the Andover Unitarian Church; member and secretary of Blackwater Grange of many years; member of Ragged Mountain Order of the Eastern Star and the Andover Historical Society; member and past president of the Andover Service Club; founding member of the Andover Planning Board; and an active volunteer for the American Heart Association. Survivors include two sons, Dennis Fenton and Paul Fenton, both of Andover; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Her husband, Paul Fenton Sr., died in 1987. Calling hours will not be held. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Andover Congregational Church, Route 11, East Andover. The Rev. John Wagner, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Proctor Cemetery in Andover. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Peabody Home Endowment Fund, 24 Peabody Place, Franklin 03235. H.L. PEMBROKE - Pauline "Polly" Underwood, 78, died Monday at the Hospice House in Concord after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Kalamazoo, Mich., the daughter of Hugh and Marion (Potter) Underwood. She lived in Pembroke with her close friend Helen Oldfield for more than 20 years. Underwood worked as executive director for the Girl Scouts in Los Angeles, Detroit and Philadelphia for 25 years, retiring in 1988. She was an active member of the Congregational Church of Pembroke. Memorial services will be held tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. at the Congregational Church of Pembroke, 301 Pembroke St. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of the arrangements.

LACONIA - Blanche M. Theberge, 89, of Carver Street, died Tuesday at Laurel Center in Bedford. She was born in Greenville, the daughter of David and Jennie (Cherette) Ricard Sr. She lived in Laconia most of her life. She worked at Cormier Hosiery Mills, O'Shea's Department Store, Sears and Fletcher's Market and as a knitter at the Belmont Hosiery Mill before retiring. She also worked in the laundry department of the Margate Resort. Theberge was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish and was a former parishioner of St. Joseph Parish in Belmont. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Lomer Theberge of Laconia; a brother, Emile Ricard of Laconia; a sister, Irene Labrecque of Belmont; three grandchildren, including Melinda Maheux of Belmont; and nieces and nephews. A daughter, Patricia Allard, died in 1976. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. at Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St., Laconia. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave. The Rev. Adrien Longchamps, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

GOFFSTOWN - Therese Grace Wright, 52, died Tuesday at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Manchester, the daughter of Edward and Louise (Messier) Montplaisir. She loved in Goffstown for 25 years. Wright taught mathematics at Goffstown High School, Hesser College and New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Goffstown. Survivors include her father of Manchester; her husband of 28 years, Thomas Wright of Goffstown; two sons, Michael Wright and Eric Wright, both of Goffstown; three brothers, Edward Montplaisir of Bedford, Paul Montplaisir of California and Peter Montplaisir of Nashua; two sisters, Cecile Goudreau of Northport, Fla., and Sue St. Onge of Milton, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at French & Rising Funeral Home, 17 S. Mast St., Goffstown. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Congregational Church in Goffstown. Burial will be held in Shirley Hill Cemetery. Leah I. Steege, 85, of Concord died Thursday at Havenwood Residence in Concord. She was born in Lafayette, Ohio, the daughter of Grover and Sadie (Clawson) Imhoff. She earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio Northern University and a master's degree in nursing from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland. She served as a visiting nurse in New York City during World War II. Steege moved to Wethersfield, Conn., after the war. She was an active member of many community organizations, including the League of Women Voters, the Wethersfield Garden Club and St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was a gourmet cook and an avid painter and gardener. Survivors include a son, Steve Steege; two daughters, Judith Pease and Jane Charlesworth; a brother, John Imhoff of Galion, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. PITTSFIELD - William Boyd, 93, of Manchester Street died yesterday at Concord Hospital. He was born in Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic, the son of William and Angie (Nelson) Boyd. He attended schools in Manchester and Pittsfield. He lived in the Pittsfield area for 75 years. Boyd served with the U.S. Army and worked for Scott & Williams Co. and the Portsmouth Naval Yard during World War II. He was owner and operator of Boyd's Jewelers until retiring. He served as tax collector for 13 years; was named chairman of the Thompson for Governor campaign in 1972; and was a member of the Knights of Pathias Club, the Pittsfield Rotary Club and Beaver Meadow Golf Club. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Doris Boyd; a daughter, Barbara Smith; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Two brothers, four sisters and a grandson died previously. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Park Street Baptist Church, Park Street, Pittsfield. The Rev. LACONIA - Mary E. Kiernan, 95, formerly of Blueberry Lane died Thursday at Harborside Healthcare in Bedford. She was born in Albany, N.Y., the daughter of John and Thirza (Wilkins) McAuley. She lived in Laconia for most of her life. She was a seamstress for more than 40 years, working for O'Shea's for 15 years before retiring in1984. Kiernan was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia. She was a member of the Ladies' Guild and the Laconia Country Club. Survivors include a niece, Barbara Stone of Bedford. Her husband, Daniel Kiernan, died in 1987; and a brother, Harry Sanborn, a sister, Kathryn Johnson, and two nephews died previously. Calling hours will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Church Street, Laconia. NORTHFIELD - L. Stanley Mallett, 49, of Greenwood Drive died Thursday at his home. He was born in Brattleboro, Vt., the son of Lansing and Barbara (Chase) Mallett. He lived in Canterbury before moving to Northfield in 1977. He graduated from Timberlane Regional High School in 1971, attended Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, Va., and earned a bachelor's degree from Unity College in Maine. Mallett worked as an emergency medical technician for the former Forest Park Ambulance in Laconia; as a medical support technician for Major Medical in Belmont for 18 years, Lincare in Belmont, Merriam-Graves Medical Products in Laconia and at Lifeplus Inc. in Laconia. He was a member of the Northfield-Tilton Congregational Church, where he served as deacon for three years. He was active with Boy Scouts Troop 248 and enjoyed sailing with his brother, canoeing, camping, skiing, riding his motorcycle and taking care of the elderly. Survivors include his mother of Venice, Fla.; his wife of 26 years, Darlene (Girouard) Mallett of Northfield; two sons, Nathan Mallett and Andrew Mallett, both of Northfield; a brother, Peter Mallett of Contoocook; a sister, Betsy Mallett-Vaughn of Canterbury; and two nieces.
